Keep getting spam emails about copyright infringement even though I bought the images through a paid plan previously many years ago and none of these are in use anymore.

Received aggressive “copyright infringement” emails demanding $999/year Enterprise upgrade. or face “serious legal consequences” over a single, low-visibility social media post from months ago. No proof of download from Pngtree was ever provided, and the image in question was not identical to theirs.

This is clearly a mass scare campaign – hundreds of identical 2025 reviews here and on Reddit describe the exact same templated emails and fake deadlines.

Decent library, but the blatant harassment and bullying tactics make Pngtree impossible to trust. Plenty of reputable alternatives exist that don’t resort to these practices. Avoid.

Clearly a scam. Have a "lifetime" Premium membership and suddenly getting email threatening 'legal action' if I don't pony up a grand to be 'Enterprise.'

Took out a 1 month Premium plan in 2018 with unlimited full use license and downloaded a few images on three occasions during the course of that month. The plan also included permanent use though they were not used, being unsuitable. Just received an email November 2025 asking for more money or they will take legal action. Just another scam and will ignore.

Update 19 Jan 2025 - PNGTree did NOTHING!!! As expected.
Don't respond. Don't be tempted to send ANY info. It's all a scare scam. Don't engage in any way and they eventually go away.

Update 30 Dec – The Escalation Fatigue
PNGTree have officially moved from threats to “are you there? please engage with us”.

Looks like they don’t like being ignored.

After the dramatic (read: I couldn’t sleep… but I lie) 24-hour ultimatum, PNGTree sales — dressed up as admin or perhaps wannabe legals on their lunch time — have resurfaced, asking me to confirm receipt of their emails and whether I need help paying them.

Legal escalation has apparently been replaced with pitiful on-their-knees grovelling — presumably to restock much-needed soft tissues for their... bout of intestinal distress.

Update 19 Dec - Drumroll please…
I have 24 hours to pay before Agent Smith (Matrix) is sent to collect my soul.

According to the latest email, the clock is now at 24 hours to pay. AND, if I disagree I have to provide the supporting evidence.
Hang on while my 2 brain cells try to process this… So I’m expected to investigate myself?

Definitely a classic spray-and-pray marketing campaign relying on a few silly people to panic-pay. Think about it. If just 1000 people pay them $999, they make (reaching for calculator)...

Replying to these absurd emails just feeds the monster. Do not engage!

Update – 11 Dec 2025 – and PNGTree delivers another 2 final notices.
Another day, another drama-gram from PNGTree’s “Overseas Compliance Team”. This one claims it’s their 6th formal notice — funny, I’ve only received five. Basic counting must be optional in that department.

This time they’ve levelled up the scare tactics by quoting sections of Australian copyright law like they’re the High Court. And now they’re threatening $275,000 in damages unless I upgrade to their magical Enterprise Plan within 48 hours

I'm looking forward to the grand finale — the Final Final Final Notice!

Update – 27 Nov 2025 – A “Final Notice” from PNGTree
Today PNGTree hit me with a Final Notice — apparently I’ve been running some underground international image-pirating racket without realising it. Their “International Compliance Team” of knuckleheads reckons I ignored earlier reminders and now I must upgrade to their Enterprise Pro Plan at a once-only “amazing” price of USD 999
...plus a free set of steak knives within 7 days… or else!!

They even gave me a WhatsApp number — like I’m meant to ring Hong Kong and sort it out over a yarn ...please donate the steak or any $$$ you have to spare.

Don't fall for this crap!

Another quality email from PNGTree. Honestly, this mob never disappoints with their creative attempts to squeeze a few extra bucks.

They wrote:
“Several days ago, we sent a confirmation letter regarding the commercial infringement of images… blah blah.. downloading and using images without an Enterprise commercial usage license constitutes an infringement… blah blah.. To avoid legal disputes, we strongly urge your company to upgrade to an Enterprise plan… blah blah.. We will not pursue any legal responsibility for past usage… blah blah blah..”

So basically: Pay us again or we’ll ‘take legal action’.
—Yeah right.

Use your noggin folks — don’t fall for it. This must be PNGTree’s new “friendly” marketing strategy. Bet that trick reels in a few flatheads!

If in doubt, check the email header. They're sending thru a dodgy email server (QQMail, a Chinese free email service) — and are forcing the DKIM Header to look like it's coming from pngtree.com servers.

To the bottom of the pond sales/admin team at pngtree.com in China ... surely you’ve got something better to do?

Back in 2020 I paid 199 USD for PNGTree’s Permanent Premium Lifetime Plan. Read “permanent premium” with unlimited downloads and “exclusive PRF agreements” = they promised usage rights. I have the receipt.

Fast forward to 2025 I get an extortion email accusing me of copyright infringement unless I upgrade to some new "Enterprise Plan" and pay another 999 USD more. They’ve essentially cooked up this new tier and shifted most of the better “premium” images into it, leaving the old lifetime plan hollowed out. To sweeten the threat they "assure" me they "will not pursue any legal claims related to the image materials used during (my) previous membership period" once I pay. As I rarely even use their site these days, I’m left scratching my head wondering what their problem really is.

That’s classic bait and switch / aggressive upselling bordering extortion. If you look up their company whereabouts, you'll find them in Hong Kong. No surprises there!

Looks like a scamming conglomerate from Southern China as registration, posing as legitimate business. They only do what they do to get you to sign up for a service and then they’re coming after you for a breach of contract or to squeeze more money out of you and your organization. Stay away from them!

Same issues as others- purchased a plan to allow use of images for commercial use and have now been threatened with copyright emails. SCAM, SCAM, SCAM!!!!

Misleading information and misleading refund info. I requested refund (less than 2 weeks of payment as per their rules), but they didn't want to issue refund.

This is their reply:
"Sorry for affecting your experience, but you do not meet the conditions in the refund agreement and we cannot refund you"

They didn't mention why it didn't meet the conditions. I paid for it, didn't find it useful, emailed them within the time frame.

Received this scam email from pngtree despite not taking any images from them. They appear to be a chinese company that just sends this slop to every and any email can find. Responded to them that I believe their ransom demand is fraudulent and it has been denied!!!

They sent me a very sophisticated email telling me I had used their copyright images. I panicked as I paid a graphic designer for my logo I didn’t create it, so it made me question it. They even took my image and told me it was theirs. I nearly fell for it as it was done very cleverly. I even replied with them. They then sent me yet another clever written email. Be so careful the first time I nearly fell for a scam. They need reporting!!!! Nearly ruined my Holiday opening their email!

I bought in 2020 a permanent plan that allowed commercial use. Now I'm accused of copywright infringement over and over again because I used pictures commercial. Now they say I bought a Individual lifetime plan that does only allow personal commercial use, not for a company. They just want a lot more money.

This is the big scam company. DON'T download or use free image in this website.

Here is the story. We found an image which is stated free to download.

We downloaded, edit it and then use.

For around 7 to 8 months later, we got an email from this website and say we use their image for our benefit. The image is copy right and they ask us to upgrade Enterprise Plan for a free image that we download from this website. If not, they will take legal action.

I forgot to cancel my membership, and asked for a refund. They replied to me, but only with a one-time clickable link where to read their replies. After one click, you can never access it again. So, I canceled the subscription. Then upon checking a week after, I am on premium again. Like hello? I just cancelled a week ago. Why am I on premium again!?

PNGTree.com is a fraudulent platform for contributors. After making just one payment or uploading many files, they may ban your account, confiscate your content, and refuse to allow withdrawals or file deletion. Do not upload anything or invest money in PNGTree.com.

So glad I found these reviews. I’m getting emails about one image I downloaded in 2023 that I decided not to use but am now accused of copyright infringement to a t-shirt company that I’ve never heard of (we don’t use these types of services). I’ve asked for evidence but they have none. Seeing these reviews highlights the scam; I was panicking. I’ve taken a screenshot of my account, will delete it and ignore future requests for payment to the upgrade. They definitely need investigating. There are probably many vulnerable people that are just paying and that’s what they are relying on. Terrible company. DO NOT touch.

They try to make me subscribe to a business plan, saying that I'm using stuff from them other than for my personal use. They are scamming their own customers.

I definitely do not recommend this site, unfortunately I accidentally forgot to turn off the automatic subscription and I was charged $25.
Communicating and being silent is absolutely not possible.

On their website, where the refund policy is stated, it is stated that the payment will be refunded if you have not downloaded anything after the 15-day trial version.
I did not download anything during that time and they still do not want to refund my money.
Unbelievable, I have never experienced this before.
