A wonderful bookselling experience — great selection, great people
Peter Harrington offers an excellent and thoughtfully curated selection across many areas: modern first editions, rare books, and collectible titles of all kinds. Their website is clear, easy to navigate, and well structured, and the option to reserve items before visiting or ordering is extremely helpful.
What truly makes the experience special, though, is the team. The staff are knowledgeable, friendly, and genuinely passionate about books. Annabel in particular has been fantastic — she not only knows a great deal about the field, but also clearly loves books, and that enthusiasm shows. She gives thoughtful, honest guidance and makes the whole process enjoyable, whether you’re searching for something specific or just exploring.
Their packaging and international shipping are also excellent. Every book I’ve ordered has been packed with great care and has arrived safely.
When I first walked into the Dover Street shop, I expected a very posh atmosphere where I might feel out of place. Instead, I discovered a welcoming environment where it doesn’t matter whether you are spending a little or a lot — you are treated with respect and real attentiveness.
Overall, Peter Harrington is a truly enjoyable place to visit and buy books. Highly recommended.

A Notable Rare First Edition for an Emerging Mathematician.
My family was looking for a notable book to record the achievement of the grandson accepted as a Mathematics undergraduate at Cambridge, with also successes in a local digital games league, a regular winner, and above all repeat MVP winner. Beyond the family's skills (bar one other), it's not surprising that the league game is one of erudite logic, but disturbingly MVP stands for Most Violent Player, so the many club members are glad to see him depart, very touchingly, on a wave of their congratulations.
Peter Harrington through their most kind, knowledgeable and helpful staff contributed the idea of a first edition of Charles Dodgson's "The Game of Logic". Interest was maintained throughout by the two granddaughters, realising that Dodgson was one and the same as Lewis Carroll. To them this made CD acceptable as the author of "Alice in Wonderland". So in deference to CD/LC's more famous book, a number of family cooks picked up the idea of a Jam Tart party, successfully held as the book was examined.
The only significant downside to this transaction to live long in the memory is that CD was a mathematics tutor at "The Other Place". Even Peter Harrington can not solve every problem, but they are thoroughly forgiven.
