Hi Doug, thank you so much for your review! Very glad you are sleeping comfortably. Since the fans are sounding a touch noisy it might help if you set the Fan Limit in the app a couple notches lower - but sometimes the higher fan speed is needed if you're a hot sleeper, and you may have already tried this. More breathable sheets can also help, as can letting the topper hang a small half inch past the foot of your mattress for easier air intake. We love that setup was simple and that you've found your overnight settings easy to manage. Your noise comparison made us smile—quieter than an AC at full blast, and about like a steam radiator at normal levels is a fair and accurate way to put it.

You're right about the dual-zone tradeoff. Each side is fully independent, which is what makes it work so well for couples with different temperature preferences—but it does mean there's no "meeting in the middle." We're glad it was easy to adjust to.

And yes—HSA/FSA eligibility is something we're proud to offer. Good sleep is a health investment, and it should be treated like one.

For the 75 degree bedroom - we hear you! Our toppers will cool a sleeper in a room that temperature, and even a warmer room, but it's a gentle feeling process, rather than shocking on the skin. 🤍 The airflow will do its job and hold the sleeper's body at their chosen cooling set point, and keep them sleeping through the night - but gently. For sleepers in a warm room, we recommend that they ensure their sheets are highly breathable, and that they know the "chill" feeling won't be as strong as it will be on days when their room is colder. What they'll notice is they mysteriously don't toss and turn, they don't have insomnia, and they don't wake up sweaty!

I'll share this for anyone else reading too, it could be educational: The Smart Topper isn't "cold to the touch," but when we did a side by side comparison between Perfectly Snug and a water-based cooling topper in a room up to 80F, our topper outperformed the water system's cooling overnight, removing 102% more body heat. In a dual zone test with one side of each topper set to cooling, the other to heating, this went up to 256% more cooling, because of the efficiency of our system. We also have no external subcooling unit that can unintentionally heat your bedroom. An additional advantage of our air-based toppers is that by avoiding a subcooled surface, there is no risk of your bed falling below the dewpoint in a humid environment, resulting in condensation that can occur with water systems. These are all tradeoffs that each sleeper weighs out while finding the right solution for them, and it's by no means simple. That's why there are so many solutions on the market, and something for everyone.

Former users of water systems can run into expectation challenges related to those first few minutes of wanting to feel a chill when they get into bed, but if you wake up hot in the middle of the night, our Cold Burst feature cools you within seconds. It can take 30 minutes for a water system to cool to a lower cooling set point.

With Perfectly Snug, a recommended starting setup for someone in a warm room might be Start Length 60 minutes, Start Level Cold 7 (-7), Sleep Level Cold 8 (-8), Wake Level Cold 7 (-7).

Hi Ryan, thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts, and we're sorry your Smart Topper was a bit on the firm side for you! The Smart Topper is medium firm. Some people find it firmer than their mattress, some they find it a bit softer, and many others notice no change. We always recommend giving your body a few weeks to adjust to a new sleep surface, and to benefit from the cooling, before calling it quits. For most people who notice a firmness change, 1-2 weeks is all it takes. 🤍 This is one reason for a full 30 night trial that starts the day you receive your topper, just to make sure you have that chance.

Our toppers are engineered to have increased airflow in the torso area compared to the foot area (the power cables should be at the headboard end of the bed), due to most individuals running warmer from the thigh up. This makes your experience unusual, and we sincerely apologize! Our app IS simple and basic. 😶‍🌫️ Thanks to all the feedback, improvements are on the way in the near future. Free app updates will be available to all existing customers once the new version rolls out.

Very sorry to hear about the fan noise and cooling performance issues. There is a Fan Limit as well as a Non-Responsive Cooling option that take care of noise (I use the fan limit), but sometimes you have a sleeper on one side who really wants high speed cooling and no white noise. Our fans will generate white noise, even in non-responsive mode (constant fan speed, no fluctuations). Very understandable that a sleeper who doesn't like white noise would find it disruptive.

It's possible you were experiencing bed recirculation if the cooling didn't feel cool in a regular room temperature room. This occurs with blocked fans at the foot, breathability issues in bedding, or if you get a little tent at the foot of the bed allowing body heat to get pulled back into the fans - keeping sheets and blankets smooth and flat over the foot of the bed and topper prevents this.

However, if your room was up in the 30s celsius, in that case your bed would be the coolest place in the room, but you wouldn't get the chilly effect and you're exactly right, it may not feel cool enough. Sleepers in hot and humid environments without AC face a genuine cost-benefit analysis dilemma. Our topper will help, but not chill them. A subcooled water system will chill their bed, but the external machine warms the room up by a few degrees, and if you subcool a bed's surface below the dewpoint in a humid environment you get condensation in your bedding. We have no easy answer for this just yet, aside from recommending some gentle AC to take the edge off the heat. Many of our sleepers report turning their AC down once they have a Smart Topper - but with zero AC in a hot environment, that is hard!

Hi Julie, thank you so much for choosing Snug, and for your thoughtful feedback! That's a great point about not being able to rotate the topper, with it needing to be mesh-side-up with fans at the foot. We would love to help you with the fan and responsiveness to your body temperature, though. 🤍 For fan volume, what you might like is to go into the app and set the Fan Limit for around 50%. (I have mine around 30-40%, because I'm sensitive to noise and windchill.)

For body heat, the topper works like a thermostat, and will keep your skin exactly at the temperature set point you choose for Sleep and Wake Phases. The topper offers a 20 degree span of skin temperature set points, -10 to +10, with Middle 0 representing "average comfortable skin temperature." The trick is choosing the right set point for you. It's very subjective - one person's perfect set point will feel hot to some folks after a couple hours and cold to to others, depending on your personal physiology. But there will be a "sweet spot" - the goal in the first week is to find it, using our recommended settings for cold and hot sleepers as a starting point. What I usually recommend is if you find you wake up hot, use the manual controls (or app, but controls are preferred in the middle of the night) to make your set point only 1-2 levels cooler. Then, once it is adjusted, press and hold the down/cool button for 5 seconds to activate a cold burst. What this does is a) optimize your set point without overcorrecting, and b) get rid of the overheating you're experiencing in the moment.

One of the biggest mistakes new users make is what we affectionately call "button mashing" if they wake up too hot or cold, not realizing how very subtle of a change is needed and how drastic a multi-level change can be. (Each level represents 1 degree of colder or warmer skin temperature, and over the course of the night that is a very significant transfer of body heat that impacts your core.)

The same principle applies for cold sleepers, we recommend they adjust only 1-2 levels warmer if they are too cold, then press and hold the "up/warm" manual control button for 5 seconds for a hot burst. (This will give them full-strength heating for 30 minutes.)

Hi LLK, thank you so much for your review! We're so glad to hear your Smart Topper cools as advertised, and I can relate - my first night I overdid it on the cooling too, lol! I learned to use a warmer (or "less cold") setting pretty quickly.

We hear you on the app, and are actively working on improvements which will be available to all existing (and future) customers at no additional cost. :) We'll send an email blast when those updates are available.

For the odor, we apologize for this! We have a procedure for "pre-airing" the Certipur memory foam, but sometimes a faint odor can still be present. There are a couple of tricks that can help, though! Leaving the topper uncovered for a day at -10, -10, -10 cooling is one way. Paradoxically, another can be leaving it at +10 Start heating, +10 Sleep heating, and then -10 Wake cooling for a day. The idea here is to warm all the inner materials up, then at the end push out any lingering odor. We've given both these tips to customers and have heard they result in improvement, but haven't done a perfect side-by-side comparison to see which method is best. Neither will hurt!

If those aren't enough, we can provide extra straps, or sometimes some non-slip pads for mattresses from Amazon work in a pinch. Another trick is to put a coarse cotton fitted sheet over your mattress but *under* your Smart Topper - this extra friction can also prevent that sliding you're experiencing. That goes for the app connection as well, we'd be happy to hop on a call and work through any network issues you may be experiencing.
