Oxbikes agreed to purchase my old bike on 20th September this year. They inspected it and asked me to leave it with them at Wolfson College that day and the money would be transferred into my bank account within a week. The bike was old and the sale price was quite low so I proceeded in good faith. Despite numerous requests, I am still awaiting payment almost a month later. They have provided weak excuses and I just sense the operation is simply incompetent and extremely unorganised. I would strong recommend that anyone considering selling a bike does not work with them as they are not reliable.

only slight issue was the returning process which didn’t work several times but eventually went through. wasn’t too difficult in a pair but unlocking it and retaking all the pictures was a little frustrating with no answers from the support phone line or chat.

We had a few technical issues but the company was super quick to respond to texts and made it seamless! I will say the bikes were quite old and squeaked a lot, but it got the job done. Also, the process to verify felt slightly unnecessarily long

First off, slightly sub-par bikes, even for secondhand, but the prices are fair. I started with trying to rent a bike, but after charging me and making me go look for it, it wasn't at the indicated depot. The only kind of refund they offered was in the form of Oxbykes credit, which keeps you stuck with them. The fact that no real refunds are offered isn't made clear on their website.
The website is a buggy mess, confirmation emails don't get sent, and when I tried to get help from the Livechat they were quite slow to reply. Also extreme nosiness for the simple act of purchasing a SECONDHAND bicycle: they asked for a driving license, two emails, my phone number, a selfie, and student card.
At least I have a bike now, but be ready for a lot of needless complications with them.

Pretty cheap and easy and to get a bike. And what is best, is that they recycle bikes. So all that rusty bikes that some one forget. They bring in to life again. Oxford it’s a city for ride. Don’t hesitate to click Ox.

I've been so grateful for OxBykes! I've purchased and returned a bike, as well as rented bikes on several occasions, and all have been great experiences. Picking up a bike is made incredibly easy, and if ever anything is wrong with a bike, you can easily swap for another one, and I've always managed to find one I'm happy with. And the staff are absolutely incredible. Whenever I've run into challenges and needed support, they've been there to offer immediate assistance (truly immediate, and no matter what time of day!) which was both very kind and very helpful. I'll definitely keep renting with them whenever I'm back in Oxford, and would highly recommend!

Bought a bike and went to go pick it up but could not find it. Went back multiple times, spending hours looking for it. They told me to just cancel my purchase and buy a different bike that was there. Not a single bike on the website was there at the depot. I canceled my purchase, bought a different bike, and went to a different smaller Oxbyke depot elsewhere on campus. I spent hours looking for it on two different occasions. I am a phd student, and I have very little time and very little money. They later told me that the bike I had spent so much time looking for is unridable and therefore not where they said it was, and I could not buy/collect it. It has been almost two months and they still have not refunded me for both bikes and are now no longer replying to my emails and whatsapp messages.

Brought a bike to the Wolfson College location and agreed to sell it. Was told I would be wired the funds, but more than 2 weeks later I haven't received it. Website says bank transfers are usually done same day. No response to emails requesting more information.

I’ve had so many frustrating experiences with this company over the last few months that it feels like a personal attack now.
My WhatsApp messages with Byke customer support take us from the website glitching and refunding the wrong bike (three times), to a refund of over a hundred pounds taking three months to process, to tonight’s saga of £94 being taken from my account with no explanation (and a later unfounded accusation of theft). Whenever victory seemed near, I was met with another trial in the form of an absent refund, or a charge four months later for a missing bike that was verified to have been returned at the time.
My experience with Byke has forced me to learn skills I had no desire to attain. I have had to adopt a formal register with which I am incredibly uncomfortable, and be more forceful than I thought I could be, and also probably a little bit rude (which was the only method which actually had any effect). Further to this, I’ve moved from accountancy, trying to calculate and receive refunds, into private detective and lawyer, trying to defend myself against an accusation of theft, and prove my innocence (which THEY THEMSELVES verified four months ago).
Throughout the many conversations I’ve had to go through with customer service, I’ve been made to feel like a nuisance, despite having caused none of the problems which impacted me. When, tonight, I was told that a bike I returned three months ago had gone missing, and I was charged £94 as a result, I felt insulted. I’ve now been told that I will be charged if the bike has been stolen, even though I have provided evidence that it has been returned. This company has insanely bad business practices given that they’re willing to validate a refund and then revoke it months later, taking a payment with absolutely no explanation. If this isn’t rectified soon, prepare for televised coverage of the ensuing proceedings.
Please, please, please, don’t use this company to buy a bike. Please. If the bike works for you then you’ll be fine, but if not (and the ones I bought had faulty brakes or punctured tyres), you’re screwed, and should take up jogging now. It’s your only chance of getting anywhere on time.

I bought a bike from them with a 30 days warranty. Returned it within 1 week. I told them next day that battery is faulty . They advised that try it for few more days. When bike was returned they tried to sell another one which I refused. Held onto my money for almost 8 weeks . Before refunding deducted £70 without giving any reason and now not replying any mails , what app messages or live chat.
Dont buy bikes of them as not trustworthy.

This company is a scam.
I hired a bike through the company and it was in an unrideable condition. The bike was rusted incredibly badly, the tires were flat and the seat was as low as it could go and couldn't be adjusted. As allowed by the policy on their website, I cancelled my bike booking and asked for a refund via email.
The email bounced back, their "customer service" inbox seems to be a do-not-reply one. The phone number on their website tells you to call a different number, which immediately hangs up on you. If you contact via WhatsApp or Instagram, they also don't reply. Their "customer service" is a Chat bot that takes about 20 minutes to respond and nothing will ever happen with what it says.
You should just not use this company. Everything is fine if there's no problems with the bike, but there will be problems because all of the bikes they rent are in shocking condition. It is literally impossible to reach any kind of customer service. Such a disappointing experience.
