I’ve had a really frustrating experience with this bank. The branch staff were often rude and dismissive, which made even simple requests uncomfortable. On top of that, the fees are extremely high compared to what you actually get.
What makes it worse is the overly complicated and unclear security procedures. The app and authentication system feel unnecessarily complex and confusing instead of secure and user-friendly. It often takes multiple steps just to do basic things, and the instructions are not transparent at all.
Overall, the combination of unhelpful customer service, excessive fees, and a confusing app/security system makes banking here far more stressful than it should be. I hope they seriously improve both their customer service and their digital experience.

Very disappointing experience with this bank.
My wife, who is a legal resident of Serbia, attempted to open a basic bank account. Without even reviewing her documents, the employee immediately focused on one question only: whether she was formally employed. When we explained that she works as a freelancer, we were told she could not open an account unless she had a registered company in Serbia.
There was no attempt to understand her situation, no proper explanation of alternatives, and no willingness to assist. The interaction was polite on the surface, but the overall approach felt dismissive and discriminatory.
It is frustrating to see a foreign-owned bank operating in Serbia while applying such rigid and outdated practices, especially toward residents who fully meet legal requirements.
Based on this experience, I cannot recommend this bank. Anyone without endless time, patience, and legal knowledge should avoid it. If you encounter similar treatment, consider reporting the issue to the National Bank of Serbia.
Unfortunately, one star is the lowest possible rating. If zero were an option, I would choose it.

Horrible experience at the Florian…
Horrible experience at the Florian square branch. I needed a simple teller service, they made me wait 1 hour and 15 minutes. During my long waiting time, I noticed the branch had very low amount of customers and a lot of customer service agents were not dealing with anything, just sat at their desks. When I spoke to the branch manager she said she cannot do anything as her colleagues were on their lunchbreak. Also she couldn't tell me how long my expected waiting time is. She gave no apology just walked away with no solution to my complaint. This is the most unprofessional service I ever experienced in a bank.
Most greedy bank
This bank is extremely greedy.
They advertise a “Friendly Fee” option, which allows customers to withdraw cash from ATMs without a commission in every country where OTP bank is presented. However, they compensate for this by offering a very poor exchange rate (for example, they don't allow to withdraw EUR in Serbia, if your card wasn't issued it Serbia).

The worst bank you can choose. Please don't go to OTP. I have only negative experience with them.
Worst of all is the mobile bank app. 9/10 times I want to use it there are technical difficulties from their side.

Concern Regarding Banking Practices in Slovenia
I would like to share a recent experience involving a Slovenian bank that raises serious concerns about accessibility and customer treatment.
I have been assisting my 70-year-old aunt, a permanent resident of Slovenia who has lived in the country for over ten years and is married to a Slovenian citizen. Despite meeting all legal and residency requirements, she has been repeatedly denied the opportunity to open a savings account.
This situation is particularly concerning as her husband is terminally ill, which means that once he passes away, she risks being left without access to funds, since all assets are currently held in his account and would be temporarily frozen. When asked how to manage the proceeds from the sale of their house, the bank’s only advice was to withdraw the entire amount in cash — an impractical and insecure solution.
In contrast, several other Slovenian banks have confirmed their ability to open a savings account for her without difficulty. This discrepancy raises questions about the policies and decision-making standards applied by the institution in question.
Such practices do not align with the principles of fairness, inclusion, and customer care expected within the European banking system.

Peccato non posso dare 0 stelle. Ho prelevato al bancomat 50.000 ft ma purtroppo mi son distratto a parlare con qualcuno ed è passato il tempo e i soldi son rientrati al bancomat. Contattato servizio clienti e dicono che mi devo arrangiare con wise , ( la mia banca ) 4 mail e non mi danno i soldi, chiaramente scalati dal conto....ma non guardano la telecamera del bancomat ? Cosa c'entra la mia banca ? Lo sportello è di otp, la videocamera è di otp...dunque incompetenti. Banca negativa sotto molti aspetti, non è la prima volta che riscontro problemi ma gli incompetenti ci mangiano i nostri soldi !!! Cambiate banca

I call the call center everyday, they cant solved the problems.. Only saying that i will call again and ask for update..worst experience ever. Poor communication with those staffs..

Stealing as an art form
I have opened a standard savings account with OTP one year ago at my last visit to Hungary. As dual Hungarian-Australian citizen, I have spent the past year back home in Australia. However, in this one year OTP have charged me 33346HUF (136AUD) in account keeping fees. That is without me having used the account even once. Naturally, I can only cancel the account in person in Hungary, and I will make it the very first task when visit again. Is stealing have now become a Hungarian corporate standard or does Mr Csanyi (owner of the bank) not rich enough as yet?
