I was enquiring about two separate properties for a possible summer holiday this year. I communicated with both Jacqueline and Henry at the company via email. They contacted the owners of both properties with my questions and got back to me quickly and efficiently with the information I was looking for. Thank you!

Adelaide of the US sales office reached out to me promptly upon my inquiry and went the extra mile to contact the chateau owner to get answers to my specific questions about the property. Clear description of the properties on the website. Very simple to book and a big bonus was being able to provisionally book for 48 hours without any deposit. Samanta phoned immediately after provisionally booking to confirm agreement with the owners about the dates and bringing a dog. Samanta kept me in touch with next steps. Such high hopes for our multi generational holiday, aiming to do something special while both our daughter and daughter in law are on maternity leave and travelling with 3 babies plus nanny.

Starting with the positives. Villa Galeon is spectacular with fantastic views across Salobre Golf resort, and worthy of its listing in Times article of 21 of the best villas in Gran Canaria. (if worth noting that 3 of the 6 bedrooms are in the basement)

The local concierge recommendation for a private chef in Marco Das Haus was great. Great chef and super knowledgeable guide as to the best on the island.

Then for how it went wrong and warning to be careful.

Days before our departure it is made clear that 2 of the 6 bedrooms will be locked!? We are referred to 'Terms & Conditions' where this will apply if 8 persons or less are booked. We hadn't spotted this and might in any case have assumed that small people counted as 'persons', for which we would then have been 9. Extra charge for having 2 bedrooms opened up? £3,500.. and that was not long after agreeing to an extra €1,120 required to have the pool heated... In the T&C's...
Left a bad taste for the start of the holiday. As a result you become suspicious of everything. eg Why does Oliver's travel call it Villa Galeon when the real address is seemingly Sunset Villa?
But all this paled compared to the sheer level of construction noise at Salobre. While Villa Galeon is perhaps 10 year's old, there are clearly some major new phases under construction all around, requiring migraine inducing rock breakers, typically 6 hours per day during the week and often longer. The T&C's warn renters against disturbing neighbours but seemingly zero acknowledgment in return. And as a result we could only enjoy the spectacular pool and outside space for a fraction of the day.
