Octopus Legal Services are very professional indeed.
We would like to thank all of their staff involved in sorting my Dad's affairs after he passed as they have been very polite, respectful and helpful. They clearly explained every step involved in helping my Mother, my sister and myself in negotiating the legal processes, paperwork, timescales and costs involved to enable a complicated process to go smoothly.

I have been very fortunate in having Emma-Jay looking after my probate affairs. She has been efficient, helpful, smoothed over technical issues and always kept me in the loop. At a difficult time, she has been supportive and reassuring. Would recommend.

I'm very hesitant to write a review before I finally receive the service I'm paying for, but feel I'm being left no real option and want to ensure other potential customers have a balanced view against the many positive reviews I can see on this site (and which I'd consulted before agreeing to work with you).
I was referred to Octopus Legacy by FareWill, to help with the probate application for my Mum's (uncomplicated) estate.
All the documents requested from me were loaded onto the secure site by 18th August. Yet we're the 14th October and I've still not seen the completed probate application for me to sign. This then needs to be submitted before the 16 week current average processing time starts.
My case was only allocated to a case manager on 14th September, 4 weeks after I'd provided everything, and only after I'd tried to call multiple times, left 2 voicemail messages, and emailed multiple times.
My case manager reviewed the documents on Wed 30th Sept and set up a meeting on Thurs 1st October to discuss. During this conversation I was told the application would be completed that afternoon and sent out to me for review and signature. I requested it be emailed, to try and cut out a little bit of time with the post.
I hadn't received anything by Wed 7th Oct and chased it, with a reply coming on Thurs 8th to say it hadn't been completed as planned the previous week, but that the application had now been completed and had gone for internal review.
It's now another week on and I still haven't received anything. My email today has been responded to with an out of office.
SURELY this part of the process shouldn't be taking so long? It's not even been submitted yet, so the 16 week average wait for it to hasn't even started yet!
I really wish I'd just done it myself - it would have been half way through the 16 weeks already and I can't see how it could have been more stressful an experience!

I originally instructed Ocotpus as recommended from farewill site and when they were originally acting as NewLaw. I primarly dealt with only one or two points of contact and one senior consistent point of contact throughout. They were very patient, helpful and knowledgeable throughout a difficult time handling probate and estate taxes with which we are all quite unfamiliar at relatively young age. Would recommend despite moderate level of cost, it is worthwhile to have the weight taken off your mind. It may not have happened the fastest but prefer this to feeling a lot of pressure to provide difficult/complicated information.

Octopus Legal provided a very professional but approachable and friendly service for my mum's probate. There was a bit of a delay at the early stages as Octopus were in the process of taking over the original company Farewill Probate but once this was completed, the service was excellent.
Emma dealt with the probate and was easily contactable via both email and phone and she took all the stress out of preparing and lodging the paperwork and guided me through the process. I provided all the financial bank balances and probate values for the probate statement required for the grant of probate but did not have the confidence or time to research the inheritance tax thresholds and probate procedures and I therefore decided to use Octopus Legal and have no regrets. The cost was £895 (inc vat) to obtain the probate which I thought was value for money and after lodging the documentation, the probate was issued within a week which was great.
I would highly recommend Octopus Legal for obtaining probates, to offer guidance and to take the stress out of lodging paperwork at a very attractive cost at a difficult time.

In dealing with my late father's probate Emma-Jay Tunbridge and the Octopus Legal team were very sympathetic and sensitive in all matters. The process was very efficient including all the online verification, and matters were dealt with promptly with clear instruction on how to proceed. The probate was granted in record time ( a couple of weeks) not the usual 3 months. All in all I cannot rate Emma-Jay and Octopus Legal Services highly enough.

Poor. Very slow in general at processing simple estate cases. Do not answer important emails in a timely manner. Misplace original copies of Last Will and Treatments, then blame the client. Do not answer their phone line.

Initial contact with Octopus Legal was very good. They were very thorough with their questioning, enabling the correct documents to be sent in for review. There was a delay in reviewing the paperwork I was asked to provide, due to the volume of applications they were receiving at the time. As such my documents were not reviewed within the 5 working day period advised. Nonetheless the probate application did move quickly once it had been reviewed, and probate granted within a week of the application being submitted by Octopus Legal.

My case manager Galena went above and beyond during what was a very difficult and protracted probate process. She is a great ambassador for Octopus.

Kirsty was always available and quick to respond to any communication with clear advice.

Shannon was always efficient, responsive, and helpful. Very pleasant and understanding on the phone. A credit to octopus!

My rating isn't anything to do with Octopus (who I haven't had any dealings with) - but all to do with my case handler since April 2024, Jackie Rice. Jackie has been there for me through a very difficult time and I always knew I could rely on her - quite apart from handling the legal and financial processes.
