- Why do I have a workplace pension?
- The government’s auto enrolment laws mean all employers must put eligible employees into a workplace pension and contribute to their pension savings. NOW: Pensions provides workplace pensions for millions of members on behalf of tens of thousands of employers.
- Can I stop paying into my pension?
- Yes, you can stop paying in at any time. After being auto enrolled for one month, the pension savings you’ve saved will be invested until you retire or transfer to another pension provider. You’ll be able to see your account at nowgateway.com. If you stop paying into your pension, you’ll miss out on your employer’s contributions – at least 3% of your earnings; tax relief; and building up pension savings. Please note charges will still apply.
- Can I opt out?
- You can opt out within a month of being auto enrolled and get back any money you’ve paid in. If you opt out after a month, your pension savings will be invested until you retire or transfer to another pension provider.
- Can I have my money now?
- Pension laws mean if you don’t opt out within one month of being auto enrolled, your pension savings will be invested until you retire or transfer your savings to another pension provider. You can start to take your pension savings any time after you reach age 55.
- Why can’t I cash in my pension savings?
- After you’re auto enrolled in a workplace pension, pension laws give you one month to opt out. After a month, your pension savings will be invested until you retire or transfer your savings to another provider.
- How long does it take to transfer out?
- Once we’ve received everything we need to carry out your transfer request, payment can take up to 25 working days.
- How do I check the progress of my request?

First experience from a few years ago was enough to put me off them for life but unfortunately my employer uses them for my new job,, and lo and behold, they haven't changed in their ineptitude to dealing with Joe public
Trying to get an actual email address is a labour in itself, All the time they are pushing for you to use the U portal or an App - not everyone has a smart phone nor wants to throw their details into an already dodgy companies portal

Terrible company with the worst customer service
Blocked my account for no reason.
Advised it would take 2 weeks for an email to arrive with an "unlock code" it never came.
Called them after waiting almost a month to be told they would send a letter within 10 working days (Its almost Christmas!) The agent on chat closed the chat on me, the agent on the phone put me on hold every time i asked a question. Terrible experience, and I still don't have my funds, maybe in time for the summer?

Moving funds from an old pension provider to my current one was simple and is now combined. All done quickly and satisfactorily online. No phone calls, no difficult instructions, delays or complications.

My mum passed away 6 months ago after her death i contacted nowpension as am the only son she had. I called and told them about my mums death they said they will send me all the paper work 4 months in after mums death I only received the papers to fill in I would have not received them if I didn’t keep calling them begging for them. Firstly the staff are very rude on the calls and they don’t know there job role or haven’t been trained once I filled in all papers I was told money will be transferred to my bank account I has even called to say 6 days maximum for money to reach my account but this was a lie. For 6 months till now I just get lies over the phone that I have to wait 6 months I don’t get any updates my have to beg my self over the phone for everything very disappointed giving me for much stress this company after my mums died. I just want everything to be done and over everything transferred and I can forget about this company. As till this day still no letter or email about my mum pension pot money being paid out unbelievable.

DO NOT USE NOW PENSIONS!!
You would think the bereavement team would have compassion to its clients, especially when they have recently lost a loved one. Nicholas promised to call me every Friday however today marks the 5th week which he has not called, this is disappointing in itself. I raised a complaint with the team on the 24th of October, I still have not even received an email acknowledging the complaint. Please avoid at all cost, the stress this is putting me through is so unfair.

Sooo many red flags!!!!
Fortunately I only have a small amount of pension savings with this company, from a temporary job a few years ago, but if you have a significant amount PLEASE be really cautious in your dealings with this company. Here are a few red flags that I’ve come across:
1. They changed their customer portal recently but didn’t feel it necessary to tell many (any?) of their customers. When I tracked down their app my customer reference number wasn’t recognised. (Yeah, they changed that too without informing me.)
2. They haven’t sent out any annual statements this year. Honking red flashing light!! All of this made me decide to withdraw my funds and close my account. As the hundreds of scathing reviews here attest, this is not a quick or simple process.
3. CHECK YOUR DATE OF BIRTH!!! As several reviewers have already mentioned on here, now:pensions often appear to have the wrong date of birth on their system for customers, which they blame on the employer. Interestingly previous annual statements sent by them show address and national insurance number but no date of birth. You’ll probably only find out that your date of birth is incorrect when you try to withdraw any funds. Do we think this is an innocent mistake by numerous employers or could it be all part of their stalling tactics to avoid paying out any funds?! The foreign call centre worker rather gave the game away by getting me to check my date of birth before I could request a withdrawal. I’m sure she already knew it would be wrong. To get your date of birth changed you have to fill out a form and send in identity documents and they will endeavour to update your details in 5-7 working days. They won’t even consider processing your withdrawal at the same as updating your details. Oh the irony of a company called NOW: dragging its feet on absolutely everything.
I’ll post an update if they ever allow me to withdraw my funds…
UPDATE: Hahaaaa. You just couldn’t make it up. Obviously prompted by the poor review they’ve actually managed to update my date of birth in less than 7 days!! Unfortunately when I try to withdraw the funds I get the following message: “We can’t pay money out of your pension savings at the moment. This is because your pension investments are changing. Please come back after 3 working days.” Why would they be changing my investments when I have phoned them and confirmed in writing that I want to close my account? Good luck to anyone else trying to get hold of their hard earned savings from this crowd!!

Would actually leave less than zery
Would actually leave less than zero stars. Worst company to deal with 7 times i 3 moths they've asked me me proof of id. Don't want to give u ur own money. Call today a now say 8 to 10 day although should hit my account tomorrow. Scottish widows took 3 days start to finish. Avoid this company big time. Read the reviews, less than 2 on trust pilot, explains its self. Liars a cheats. Have now reported them to the inland revenue for withholding funds as clearly shows i withdrew in September and still nothing in my account .
Reporting to Trading Standards today as still nothing. Now 40 to 50 emails and calls. Still nothing.

I would give zero stars but have to give 1. Do not put any money into this pension. They delay giving you any money. Their website is full of rubbish as the firm do not live up to their promises.
At your peril Do NOT use this organisation to invest your hard earned money. Poor poor poor.

Account NP 13365179. Awful company, had money since 2018 and haven't invested it (their own words) charges taken and reduced it from £68 to £13 which has now been transfered to my main provider. Dob was changed to wrong one after being corrected before being put back again. Complaint from August hasn't been responded too. No one takes responsibiliity or calls you back. Regulator should step in and shut down.

"Flagged for review"…
Account has been "Flagged for review" for weeks now. Despite me including all my login details correctly i still can't access my account. I have zero confidence that my money that is supposedly being paid in monthly is safe.
Every time I try to speak to someone on webchat, I get a bot response which is very unhelpful.

Ridiculous
Ridiculous, you pay a pension in easily enough but to get it out is pathetic. I haven't had this with my other pension provider, I rang them up they transferred my pension pot to me within 3 days. This one wanted bank statement sending to them and was processed 24th November it's now 1st December and no money into my account. There's even a message blocking the front screen so all I can do is chat to someone online, ridiculous company

Terrible company. I have been trying to transfer my money to another better provider and it is now 6 months!!!! They just make the process difficult and don't provide information to the new provider. It's disgusting - it my money!!!! Do not ever use them, you will never get your money out!!

Fraud company
The worst company I've ever encountered in the UK. I was trying to figure out how to withdraw money to my bank account after leaving work in the UK. After a day or two, they simply blocked my account while they conducted a security check. Customer support said it would take about two weeks, but five or six weeks have passed and nothing has happened. I tried contacting them to find out why this was happening, but they said I needed to log in, which I can't because they blocked me without explaining the real reason. I'm sure all of these actions should be investigated by the police and regulatory authorities, because I see from the reviews that there are a lot of people like me. To me, it looks like the company is either trying to steal my money or has already done so.

Rubbish customer service
Rubbish customer service, employer entered my details incorrectly. I had to correct it manually. It then took about 8 phone calls and 5 emails over 6 weeks to gain access to my account.
