- Why do I have a workplace pension?
- The government’s auto enrolment laws mean all employers must put eligible employees into a workplace pension and contribute to their pension savings. NOW: Pensions provides workplace pensions for millions of members on behalf of tens of thousands of employers.
- Can I stop paying into my pension?
- Yes, you can stop paying in at any time. After being auto enrolled for one month, the pension savings you’ve saved will be invested until you retire or transfer to another pension provider. You’ll be able to see your account at nowgateway.com. If you stop paying into your pension, you’ll miss out on your employer’s contributions – at least 3% of your earnings; tax relief; and building up pension savings. Please note charges will still apply.
- Can I opt out?
- You can opt out within a month of being auto enrolled and get back any money you’ve paid in. If you opt out after a month, your pension savings will be invested until you retire or transfer to another pension provider.
- Can I have my money now?
- Pension laws mean if you don’t opt out within one month of being auto enrolled, your pension savings will be invested until you retire or transfer your savings to another pension provider. You can start to take your pension savings any time after you reach age 55.
- Why can’t I cash in my pension savings?
- After you’re auto enrolled in a workplace pension, pension laws give you one month to opt out. After a month, your pension savings will be invested until you retire or transfer your savings to another provider.
- How long does it take to transfer out?
- Once we’ve received everything we need to carry out your transfer request, payment can take up to 25 working days.

Absolutely appalling company if I could give zero stars I would, and like the many negative reviews I have had the same issues obtaining my pension. I have been trying for over 3 months now as I had to retire early due to ill health to get into my account as I was locked out for security reasons, my multiple calls lead to nowhere apart from stalling tactics and lies waiting for letters that don’t arrive, giving dates that nothing happens, promises that lead to nothing. Complaints that they say has been resolved when it hasn’t this company will lie to you and stall as they don’t want you to access your own money. I have had financial stress due to this company not allowing me access to my own account and money. Avoid at all costs this company should be closed down as they won’t give you access to your own money they will just lie to you and stall you constantly. I like many other will be seeking legal advice and have contacted the pension ombudsman,
Your positive reviews I do not believe and they don’t fool anyone as the negative ones over ride the fake positive reviews, that this company is either paying for or asking people they know to leave to try and cover up for their absolute incompetence.

A similar experience to the numerous documented accounts of an opaque, de-humanising, convoluted communication process that ultimately goes nowhere, with the customer feeling like a hamster trapped in it's wheel.
Enough of the flowery prose. This isn't incompetence, rather it's an intentionally dysfunctional and unsavoury combination of people and process that delivers 100% on its objective.... To make it as difficult as possible for people to access their own money.
Disgusting.
Don't bother inviting me to contact you because I can guarantee it will be yet another dead end.

I have just checked you review status and I am not at all surprised to see that you have struggled to achieve over one star, my experience with you was completely unsatisfactory, I am certainly glad I haven’t moved my pension to you guys, that would have been a disaster.

I have to own up to this actually being partly my mistake. During a call with an advisor it was identified that NOW Pensions did actually email me a reset code for my account on the 9th of November. I completely missed the email. However, I have rung up a few times since, including the day I left the original review (5/1/2026) and still no advisor could tell me this, just to stay patient and wait for the code. So whereas I hold my hands up to my part, the level of knowledge displayed from previous calls was not of a sufficient standard either to signpost me. Adjusting from a 1* accordingly as now rectified.

An awful company who now are just playing games in order not to release the monies I am owed.
Having sent all the relevent documents for my pension pot to be paid out in November, they have waited 2 months just to say they did not receive them all.
DELAYING TACTICS
Its quite possible that they are in financial trouble and are having to hold back monies owed to bolster their cash flow.

So, you sent me an email this evening with some updated terms, and I haven’t been in my account for a while, so, I logged in, and when I tried to login, it wouldn’t let me, not accepting my email, site said it was wrong, tho it’s not.
Then when I went to password assistance, it said we’ve sent an email with a code to your address. I waited all night I tried 7
Times, I didn’t get a code sent once, i’m not even to my spam or junk, so I tried contact you through your chat. Your chat wouldn’t load, every time I press start, I would get three or four letters out, and then it would close the chat. I have a video, which I tried to send your email, but he’s close your email down. There is no direct email to get to support anymore. I have to go into the chat, but I can’t go into the chat, because it’s not working. Your website isn’t working. My password isn’t working, you don’t know me, so your website says, I’ve got no account, even though you’ve sent me an email today with my account number. This is ridiculous, what is going on?

Shocking company
Everyone seem to be having the same problems as me with this Awful company, 3 times in 3 month i have tried to withdraw my money, and still waiting,upto me typing this, i have been on chat, phoned them, and even putting in numorous complaints ,but just getting fobbed off with stupid excuses, my next step is trading standards, financial ombudsman,and my local mp. for some reason they are holding on to it, i have also had a phone call and chat disconnected, It seems to me they have not got the funds to pay people out, as many like me want to close their pensions account due to the shocking government taking off the working people. Like others would be a big fat zero if i could. Take your money when you can then AVOID at all costs😡😡

Cannot Upload Employee Data
UPDATE: 4th February 2026. Obviously an automated response from NOW below, as I am writing from an employers point of view and so providing my personal DOB and NI number will not help the situation at all.
Several more phone calls and webchats later nothing has changed, I now have October, November, December & January staff data files to upload.
Writing this review from an Employers point of view who use NOW for their employees. We have a unique pay period that does not fall into the options available on the website. This means I have to request a manual change of date each month. I have now requested the October date change 7 times, via webchat and phone and also raised a complaint. Each time I am assured the date will be changed but the date remains unchanged meaning I cannot upload my October data file. I also have Novembers file waiting to be uploaded and in a week will have Decembers file ready. I am hoping this review will get a response, but I do have an Internal Dispute Resolution Process form (provided by The Pension Ombudsman after a webchat with them asking advice) to complete and submit today if I get no further with this.

You'll have difficulty getting your money back
My hard earned money was transferred to Now Pensions by an Umbrella company (I am paying both the employer and employee contribution!). To transfer money from Now Pensions they send you a 28 page PDF document that you have to split into three forms, fill in, get counter signatures from professionals and post back to them with your passport. They say that this is to 'protect' my money whereas they are clearly trying to hang on to it. There is something very very wrong here. I have made a formal complaint and requested their complains procedure. I guess I'll have a similar experience to the other reviewers and frankly, I can't wait for the eight weeks to elapse and refer them to the Pensions Ombudsman.

A new barrier put in between me and my hard earned money. Now Pensions (Trust Pilot 1.7) will not allow my money to be transferred to Moneybox (Trust Pilot 4.4) unless I register and interact with 'MoneyHelper'...

Dear Now pensions,
You have asked me to meet with MoneyHelper to receive advice regarding leaving Now Pensions (1.7 TrustPilot) and transferring the money to Moneybox (TrustPilot 4.4) just in case I'm being ripped off!
Having spoken to MoneyHelper, they inform me that I can't initiate this meeting (as you well know!) and that you need to initiate a referral for me in order to generate the Money Helper Reference Number.
I'm going to clearly request that you initiate this referral to MoneyHelper for me now.
Needless to say, this will be added to all of the other interactions on TrustPilot and added to my complaint to the Pension Regulator.

Will not let me login keeps badtelling me…
Will not let me login keeps telling me my all my login details don’t exist and my account number doesn’t exist. I have tried to get in touch with them several times every time I put my account number in will not let me go any further. I have no way to access anything. I’ve emailed sent messages had no reply.
