My Language Exchange Omdömen 10

I purchased a premium membership on mylanguageexchange.com.

Of the six people contacted who have logged in during the last few weeks, not a single one responded to a friendly request. Five of them have not logged in since their last log-in date.

Furthermore once, I was no longer able to log in. Instead, the following error message appeared:

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server error '80004005'
SQL Server does not exist or access denied
/GenLib.asp, line 565

This is clearly a server-side issue, not a user error. In this state, the platform is essentially unusable. Displaying such technical error messages to paying users suggests a lack of proper maintenance and quality control.

Whether the lack of responses from the profiles I contacted is related to these technical problems cannot be determined, but it certainly does not inspire confidence.

I have since deleted my account and will not continue using this service. For a paid membership, I expect a significantly more stable and professional level of service than what is offered here.

Given the obvious inactivity of some profiles, one wonders why the operator charges money for such a platform. I am happy to pay for something useful, but certainly not for nothing. In my experience, there are free sites with better chances of success. I will no longer use this site and cannot recommend it to others.

Con una scelta e un sito veramente poveri, andava ancora bene finchè era completamente gratuito, adesso si pretende anche una sottoscrizione (modesta, devo dire) che però non è giustificata da un'offerta davvero basic, Tra l'altro l'idea che permettendo a un membro standard di contattarne un altro con "hi", si induca il secondo a sottoscrivere è veramente meschina.

At first I thought this would be a good place to practice languages, but honestly without paying for gold membership you can’t do much. There was no real conversations. Feels more like a joke than a learning platform.

I was thinking it's going to be a good experience. As I'm not a gold member, I can't do nothing. Only sent "hi" to other not gold members. They are sending me the same "hi". :))))) it's only a big joke 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I used the site for the first time around 4 to 5 years ago, and I remember that even as a free member, it was somewhat active. Slowly but surely, it was possible to find people to start planning something together for language exchange.

I’ve tried it again recently and unfortunately I must say it has really gotten worse, quite a lot. There are scammers, people who don’t reply to you unless you use a private picture (as if it were a dating app, which I’m not interested in).

Moreover, without a gold status you basically receive zero inquiries, no matter how professional your message is. I know 3 different languages and still not a single person contacted me in 4 months.

Just out of curiosity I tried creating a fake account using a female picture and got 10 requests in one day, even though the selected mothertongue was just English lol

That speaks for itself. Really sad.

I used my language exchange for like a year while preparing for an stay abroad eleven years ago, so I can't provide an up to date review on how active it still is. But back than, it highly improved my English and my confidence in both it and myself, helped me to connect with lots of great and fun people from all over the world and on this day eleven years ago, I met the love of my life and my now wife through it. Despite not using it anymore, I'm so happy it still exists and I can't recommend enough.

I am a golden member of mylanguageexchange. I paid in order to be able to send emails and answer the possible Hi!s I could receive.
So far today, I have sent 45 requests to people interested in exchanging languages: they were interested in my native language and I am - still - interested in theirs. But for day 1, when I received two answers, I haven't received any more answers to my requests, which IMO is unusual. I keep sending requests just for the sake of it because nobody is answering me. But I have paid for a month and want a couple of interlocutors to help me with the target language.
I complained to the webmaster and they suggested waiting for several more days and to space my requests.
I'll wait.

In all fairness, I must say I received one Hi! and was able to answer it, and made contact. The person who contacted me had a very poor command of my native language - he couldn't even say his name - and we dropped it.

I have changed the appraisal to 3 stars because I now have several interlocutors. Eventually, it all depends on a lot of patience.

When I first joined this website, I thought I was going to like it. That was until today, I found out they logged me out of my account, and when I tried to log back in, they said they had terminated my account for supposedly "violating" the rules. I didn't do anything wrong, I even read the rules and violated none of them. Not to mention that the website is also NOTORIOUS for scammers. If you want to learn a language, I highly do not recommend this website at all.

Worst platform i ever seen . before sign up you guys can charge money why wasteing our time. if we want to use it free you know useing this platform free is not possible. they provide everything in pro version. if you dont want to spend money then this platform is not for you.

I would give them 11 stars if I could! A MUST for all serious language learners!

I wasn't very impressed at first, because of the outdated appearance. But after reading some of the profiles and their How-to's, I knew I would find serious language partners - FINALLY!.

I tried other "modern" sites and apps. But they were full of scammers or people looking date me. Whenever someone texted me on an app, they would disappear after a short conversation.

Over the years, I have found partners from MLE to practice writing and conversation. And not only has my French improved TREMENDOUSLY, but I have made many friends. Some of my language partners have become life-long, family friends. We fly across the ocean to meet up. We treasure and love our visits. I have even heard of others meeting their future spouse at MLE.

It may not be completely free, but I find if I am patient, I will find a good partner. At times, I have paid for the gold membership too, and it was the best $6 I ever spent. I can't believe people complain about such a small fee, when the so called "free" sites are full of ads and send me spam constantly asking me to upgrade to their premium plan.

My Language Exchange has made my dream of becoming bilingual come true. I highly recommend MLE to every serious language learner!
