A Chapter of Disasters
On 18-04-24 I accepted a quote from this company to collect my daughter’s possessions from York at 10 am on 05-07-24 and deliver them back to Bromley and I paid half of the removal fee. We did have to reschedule the date to 24-06-24 and a new invoice was received for this revised date.
Three working days before the removal day I received a text saying that I now had to pay the remaining 50% before the removal date. I spoke to Daniel who said I had to pay the full amount because I had changed the date.
This was the first time I had been informed of this and there was nothing in the original invoice or in the e-mail of 17-05-24 about this condition. In a phone call I said I was willing to pay an additional 30% of the outstanding payment. At the time Daniel did not object to this though I then received a text saying ‘…we can issue a refund or you can make the payment today’.
This left me in a difficult position. There was not enough time to rearrange an alternative removal firm and my daughter had booked a train ticket home at 4 pm on 24-06-24, so I had no option but to pay the remaining 50 % of the fee which I did that evening.
On 24-06-24 we were informed that the removal van would not arrive until 1pm, not 10 am as agreed. After a number of phone calls Daniel said he could not contact the removal van and he finally informed me that the removal would not happen that day.
Daniel then told us that he could arrange for the removal in 2 days’ time and fortunately my daughter was able to stay in York at some friends for the next two nights.
After agreeing that Daniel would arrive in York between 11am and 12 noon, he did not arrive till 2pm having driven up in a saloon car and he had to dismantle my daughter’s cycle and desk chair to fit it in the car. He arrived in Bromley at 10-30 pm and spent 45 minutes borrowing tools from me and reassembling the cycle and chair
