After initially contacting London Coins back at the start of the year I spoke with Semra who was really helpful.
I had some old English banknotes to sell which were from my late father. I have tried over the years to sell to various dealers but they were only offering peanuts for what I considered a valuable collection. Anyway London coins discussed the options with me and put them in their June auction under approx 10 different lots. A couple of them exceeded my expectations and overall I was happy with the result. They only took 10% commission so was left with a decent return . Thanks to Semra and the team for making this possible for me.
Yes, I would recommend this company.

Seem I am blocked from access to their site without been given any notice. Business dealing custody is the basis from misunderstanding.

I contacted London Coins when I'd been given a derisory offer of £155 for my collection (coins, sets, tokens, notes and numismatic covers) by a well known dealer and others had shown limited interest. I sent them the collection, they did their appraisal and said they would expect to get between £500 and £1000 at auction. We could have accepted the offer for them to buy them for £550, but decided to let them go to auction in June. Glad we did, they made £885 after London Coins' 10% fees. Very happy. Thank you Semra and colleagues!

Our father had purchased part of his coin and medallions collection from London Coin Auctions. He always found them to be friendly and extremely helpful. When he recently passed away we contacted LCA and they arranged to collect, catalogue, and then auction the numerous items that he had amassed over the years. They were so considerate and kept us involved at every stage of the process. We would 100% recommend them.

I've received this company's catalogues for some months now. Interested in several items and wanting to view before bidding, I couldn't find their address on the September Catalogue web page. I phoned and wish I hadn't. A woman who obviously isn't too keen on her job answered in monosyllables. Asked why there's no address on the catalogue page, she said, "That's the way we are". Hardly helpful to a new bidder.

I have sold various lots with London Coins and have found them fantastic to deal with. They came out to London to assess the collection free of charge, and were clearly knowledgeable, fair and efficient.

They were also respectful and not patronising in any way - which can happen.

Their 10% commission is very fair given all the work they put in and detailed descriptions.

I got a very good prices everytime and swift payment. They really are a find.

Reading the isolated poor reviews about communication - i do have a couple of observations - emails aren’t always responded to the first time and theres a guy who sometimes answers the phone who cant do anything but take a message and sometimes you feel that message wont get through.

I’ve Just purchased a rare Phasis Hemidrachm from London Ancient Coins it arrived a week later. Exactly as described and at a good price. I’ve been collecting Greek coins for over 40 years and would be happy to purchase from this company again.

The service given by London Coins is excellent. Most professional and honest. I was not put under pressure and was guided through the process by Steve and Semra. The end result was very satisfactory and payment was made promptly. In all truth, I have nothing but praise and gratiture for the quality of service I have received. It really is outstanding. Excellent all round.

I have dealt with London Coins for many years and can honestly say that I have always had first class service. Their website is easy to use and contains many images of the items in their quarterly sales. Their descriptions are good and their grading is always accurate with any defects clearly mentioned. A free colour catalogue is sent to regular customers too. Their commission is fair and any items that you buy are sent out speedily.

I have been using London Coins now for over a year and I find them very helpful ,and a pleasure to do business with, I have bid on and won some very nice coins, and I am very, very pleased with the speed of delivery, keep it going Guys and Gals, well done.

Back in November last year I contacted London Coins Auction about my collection of coins and told me to post my collection to them for appraisal. On the 1st of December I posted two packages of coins to them and they received both of them a couple of days later.
I phoned them after they had received both packages and I spoke to a man (didn’t give his name, sounded older) and he said that they would divide them into separate lots as this would achieve better results. When I got their glossy catalogue at the end of the first week of February my coins were in one lot with no photos and the description was not even a full sentence. It was clear as they were not a high value they couldn’t be bothered. So I emailed them and asked them to return my coins to me. I got a reply asking me to confirm my address and told she would post my coins out on the following Monday, so I waited till Wednesday and nothing came. I contacted them again and they refused to send them back instead asking for a copy of my ID telling me I’d need to collect ( they are in Kent nearly 200 miles away and I live in Brighton) I reminded them that they said they would post them back to me and no reply and they have not replied to any email since.

So I was left with no other option but to report my coins as stolen to Kent Police who issued me with a crime reference number and they are investigating this as a theft. The police contacted them asking them to return my coins and they squirmed out of it by saying he’s free to collect them. So now I will take them to court. Don’t trust them as far as I could throw them. They lie and mislead and treat you appallingly.
Now I’m sure they will comment on this with an absolute load of rubbish but I have emails from the police and all the emails they sent me and happily post them publicly for all to read

It has always been a pleasure to deal with London Coins both as a Seller and Buyer for almost 10 years. Prompt payment. Polite and helpful customer service with fast responses, plus only 10% commission for selling.

I sold a high value gold coin with this company in December - no problems. Their catalogue alone proves they are serious traders in this sphere.

I have been collecting most of my life, which has given me a rich experience in dealing with auction houses - everything from smaller
local ones to auction houses of the like of Christies and Sothebys.

My main interest is in vintage timepieces, but I have been collecting ancient coins for several years now as ancient history is close to my heart. It's all been a pleasant experience until I came in contact with London Coins.

And as many other coin enthusiasts, I use the plattform Biddr to bid on lots of different auction houses. I see a few lots at London Coins that I submit my pre-bids on, well within the time frame.

And this particular item, lot 1054 in their 174 auction, I submit a 1150GBP bid. It will sell for 800GBP and to my surprise I get no information from London Coins - no invoice or the like. I contact them, and to my asthonisment they simply reply with one sentence "Your bid was not accepted" without any (!) explanation or whatsoever. Was my name wrong? The sum, 1150GBP, is obviously low enough to make me not need to provide bank details or proof of salary, and in terms of ancient coins, is actually fairly low amount to not need to take other precautions. Or what was the matter of this behaviour?

Or did London Coins reject the my pre-bid so they could buy the coin cheaply themselves? I cannot think of any good and reasonable reasons of why my bid was rejected. And one thing to point out, the mentioned lot/coin had an estimate of 1500GBP, but sold for 800GBP or almost half the estimate! And we are currently in a bull-market where ancient coins (or coins in general) are breaking records.

Also note that most auction houses put pride and accomplishment in how they beat their own estimates, as a way to tell how good of a job they did. I guess London Coins work the other way around. Most AH would be happy to get more bids, unless something fishy is happening.

I also should mention that I feel sad for the seller for getting such a low amount as London Coins obviously didn't act in the best interest of its sellers or buyers. That is why I feel obliged to share my experience here, and other enthusiast forums and collectors.

There is so many other and better alternatives, as proven
by my experience, that would happily accept more bids making the buyer and seller happy, while getting their share by higher comission fee. Which is how AH normally functions. Reading their comments here that they have put as a reponse to other reviewers, where LC acts like it's a
privilege for its customers to get their items valued, which is a standard part of the business model of pretty much all auction houses - or the lack of response or communication, blaming the number of lots and "lot to do"
which is actually their responsibilitiy to have enough capacity to provide adequate experience and support of their customers just proves my point even more. Just beware of London Coins.

Edit: Update to London coins response, even more lies?:

I am unknown to you? Is new members treated differently? Honestly, I do not see your point or the relevance expect new members should be careful with London coins. Biddr is one of the biggest, if not the biggest plattform to buy and sell coins for auction houses and used by tens of thousand enthusiast world over. Reducing this to a "third party" just show the ignorant London coins is of the evolving market of coins.

No matter if you like it or not, plattform such as BIDDR, which revolutionize the coin market will be vital for auction houses to be able to compete with others, or you will be left in the dust. London Coins ignorant view of new trends, markets and new technology which will expose their catalogue to new users makes me think of the old management of Konica which looked at digital cameras with suspicion as "analogue cameras" was always a thing for over a hundred years. Well, we all know what went with that company...In fact that would explain their low results in their sales, which is by no mean a subjective opinion of mine. Most AH publish their catalogues and results and you are free to do your own comparison.

And blocked by several auction houses? Oh my, even more lies. You mean the famous lot 1250, NBS auctions, web auction 2 that turned out to be fake and highly discussed in enthusiast circles? Do London Coins support fakes and replicas? Most auction houses don't and thats why I obviously have no issues registration with well over 20+ auction houses. But I guess LC have other opinions on fakes. And in an desperate attempt, London coins makes another lie to make them look good in front of bad reviews. Lot 1054 did have an estimate of £1500, its even in your webpage, jesus!

It is not clear what’s going on there but I receive no answer to my questions I have sent to their valid email address. As soon as there is something in the email pointing to a problem, they ignore it at its most. This has happened to me not once but multiple times.

Ignorance is probably the policy there by London Coins.
