Ripped my mum off £600 for changing a lock!
Complete Ripoff. So many hidden charges.
One should avoid them at any cost.
Today was the third time I have had to contact this company, SERVICES247 LTD (locksmith service), as I was still experiencing ongoing issues gaining entry to my property and securing my door.
This morning, I was unable to lock my door and leave for work, which meant I had to take the day off due to the serious security risk this created.
I was initially locked out of my property on Friday 17th July after accidentally leaving my keys on the inside. I contacted this company and was advised that a locksmith would attend within 20 minutes; however, I waited over an hour for the technician to arrive. The technician attended and carried out work which they claimed had resolved the issue.
However, the following day I was unable to gain entry to my property using the new key they had provided. This demonstrated that the issue had not been properly resolved. I contacted the company again and had to wait a further two hours for the same technician to return, with no apology or acknowledgement of the inconvenience caused.
I paid £554.40 for a service that failed to resolve the problem, left my property unsecured, and resulted in damage to my door. I have since had to instruct an independent locksmith to rectify the issues caused by their technician.
I have requested a full refund because the work carried out was not completed to an acceptable standard and did not resolve the original issue. Instead, further problems were caused, including damage to my door, removal of part of the door mechanism, and additional damage caused by the use of a crowbar. The locks have now had to be replaced.
The independent locksmith who attended my property today advised that the lock fitted by this companies technician was not operating correctly with the keys provided and required replacement. He also advised that I was significantly overcharged and that the work carried out was unnecessary. He has confirmed that he is willing to provide a written report to support these findings.
I have also reported this matter to trading standards today. I was advised that under the consumer rights act 2015, I am entitled to request a refund where services have not been carried out where the workmanship is substandard. I obtained three separate quotes today for the work that was actually required. I was also advised that as the company failed to properly rectify the issue when given the opportunity on Saturday, I was entitled to instruct another locksmith.
I have made it clear to them that if I do not receive confirmation of a full refund by 12:00 tomorrow via email, I will have no option but to escalate this matter further. This will include pursuing a chargeback through my bank and providing the independent locksmith’s report as evidence should I need to make a claim through the small claims court. I will also be seeking recovery of the full costs incurred in rectifying this issue.
I strongly advise others to avoid this company and carry out thorough research before using them. I contacted them in a moment of panic after accidentally leaving my oven on and urgently needing access to my home. I feel that I was taken advantage of during a vulnerable situation and I was SIGNIFICANTLY OVERCHARGED for works that hadn’t even been completed. I believe more people should report their experiences so that this company can be properly investigated.
DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES USE THIS COMPANY - COMPLETE CON MAN CHARGED OVER £1000 to replace a barrel and put back my old parts. I have reported to trading standards and disputing the payment with my credit card company. Doesn’t deserve 1 star but had to give one to put a review.
Complete scam. Eldery disabled woman, slammed door on the way to hospital appt. Locksmith arrived quickly, drilled out lock and replaced, changed me other lock although not needed, Charged me £1274.40, I have bad sight and thought it was £127, outrageous charge, fighting it still. COMPLETE SCAM!! Posted on NextDoor, amazing how many other people been scammed, BBC has done a section about it. I wish I knew before!!
Was quoted £49 plus the price of a lock on the phone.
After dismantling my front door lock I was presented with a bill for £429! £49 call out, £189 for a lock and £120 for labour and 'warranty' plus VAT. None of these charges were explained nor agreed beforehand.
When I refused and asked for my original lock to be put back on I was told it would cost me £120 + VAT just to reverse the work. At that point, my lock had already been removed and left outside my property.
It was late, myself and my son live alone and I felt totally intimidated into having no choice but to pay as my lock had been removed and placed outside my home.
The company has since refused my request for a partial refund and lied about their total lack of transparency.
This is a common tactic with rogue and unscrupulous locksmiths where a lesser price is quoted then midway through the work the customer is presented with an over inflated bill.
I have reported this to action fraud, trading standards and disputed the charge with my bank who are investigating.
I ENCOURAGE ANYONE WHO DISCOVERS THESE REVIEWS AFTER THE EVENT TO DO THE SAME.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!
They have lied about their trust pilot score, on their website it’s 4.8 stars. I would rate this company 0. They are rude and unreliable, I firstly spoke to the office and they told me it would be a 30 minute wait. Which we would be happy with, until an hour goes by and we have no sight of them, so we ring up and ask for the locksmith to clarify when they will arrive, they said it would be an extra 45 minutes!!! I called fo cancel and I have never been spoken too so disrespectfully. Please do not use this company. 😔
SCAM. Did not fix the door properly. Would not rectify the issue or issue a refund. FAKE SCORES for Trustpilot, Google and CheckATrade displayed on their website. Don't announce the company's name when you call. Company stated in website footers (PVIDA Security and Master Locksmiths) are DISSOLVED. No way to contact them in writing.
Do not use these people, complete rip-off merchants. Charged extortionate prices for 'new' parts when they were refitting the old parts, virtually ruined my mother's door, wouldnt leave until we had paid their eye-watering fee & have had to pay out another £200 to a reputable firm today to try & fix what these shysters have done. Only gave 1 star as trustpilot does not let you give zero stars
I’m very disappointed with the service I received. I wasn’t given a quote before the work was done, and the locksmith took advantage of the fact that it was an out-of-hours emergency. The final bill was far higher than expected, and I feel I was overcharged. After ringing the office to question the final price of £499, it was reduced to £399 I wouldn’t use this company again and would advise others to confirm pricing upfront before agreeing to proceed with any work
Only giving 1 star cos they answered the phone and I can’t give less. Was told as long as they could see the keys in my van they could get in. My keys were on front seat so they said it’ll be fine and with me within 30 minutes. 40 minutes later I had a text saying they were 13 minutes away. He got here and said he didn’t do vans. He’d have to get down inside my window to press the button. £150 plus call-out fee of £45. I said I was told he could do it. I didn’t want to pay just under £200 for him to break into my van. I had to pay him £45 before he would leave. Upon further investigation they state they didn’t do cars even though it lists vehicles on their page and I was told on the phone it was not a problem.
DO NOT USE!!! ( number 1 rated my arse)
