Appointment for 3.30 to order new lens…
Appointment for 3.30 to order new lens for my existing frames.
Arrived 3.17, checked in and was asked to take a seat.
2 assistants working - 1 had finished with her customer but spent over 10 mins just chatting. The other assistants customer needed to go in to see the optrometrist and returned to the desk after 5 minutes.
At no time was I informed that assistants were ‘running late’ or that I would be seen shortly.
I left the showroom and went to find a more professional opticians. No one phoned to ask why I had left or to ask if I wanted to make another appointment.
I was completely ignored.

Arriving for an appointment and not being properly acknowledged or kept informed is not the level of service we aim to provide. You should have been updated about the delay and attended to promptly, and we regret that this did not happen during your visit.
We also understand how disappointing it must have felt to leave without assistance and without any follow-up from our team.

Such a shame you won’t let customers…
Such a shame you won’t let customers use the toilet and send them to Macdonalds instead. You’re happy to take my money but won’t let me use the facilities. The excuse that you’re not insured as you have so many elderly customers is frankly unbelievable and wouldn’t apply to me anyway as I’m not elderly - and it was a two hour appointment. Poor.

We’re very sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your experience. We completely understand how frustrating this must have felt, especially during a longer appointment, and we sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused.
However, our team was correct in advising that we are not insured for customers to use the toilet due to its positioning within the practice. Because of where the facilities are located, allowing public access would fall outside of our insurance coverage and health & safety policy. This is not a decision we take lightly, and it certainly isn’t intended to cause discomfort or inconvenience to our customers.
We truly value your feedback and appreciate your understanding of the constraints we have to work within.

Exceptional service from start to finish. The staff were friendly, polite, courteous and knowledgeable about all of the products. I had lots of questions about their other services such as contact lenses and hearing and everything was explained clearly and thoroughly.

I had such a wonderful experience at my recent optician’s appointment for contact lenses in Basingstoke with Ali. From the moment I arrived, the team showed incredible patience and genuine care. Ali never rushed me—not once. Instead, he took the time to explain every step, answer every question, and make sure I felt completely comfortable.
Learning to put in and remove contact lenses can feel intimidating, but Ali guided me with so much kindness and reassurance. Even when it took me a few extra tries, he remained encouraging and calm, reminding me that it’s okay to take things at my own pace.
Alis patience truly made all the difference. What could’ve been a stressful appointment turned into something positive, confidence-boosting, and even enjoyable. I left feeling supported, informed, and excited about this new step in my eye care.
I’m genuinely grateful—and highly recommend them to anyone, especially if you’re nervous or new to contacts.

All of the team handling my eye-test at Leighton's, Basingstoke were of a very high standard, particularly Martina Reeves who by far and away the best optometrist I have been treated by-and I have seen many over the years ! She is incredibly knowledgeable and a credit to your company. Also, the young lady who dealt with my pre-test examination was also excellent. I always get a friendly greeting when I visit Leighton's, as if my custom is much appreciated. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

First class service!!
I recently had the pleasure of visiting Annette, and I must say, the service I received was nothing short of outstanding. From the moment I walked in, the staff greeted me with warm smiles and a welcoming atmosphere that instantly put me at ease.
The optometrist (Annette) was exceptionally knowledgeable and took the time to thoroughly explain each step of the eye examination process. I appreciated the personalised attention and the in-depth discussion about my eye health and vision needs. They carefully addressed all my questions and concerns, making me feel valued as a customer.
The selection of glasses was impressive, with a wide variety of stylish frames to choose from. Paul (I think that was his name) was incredibly helpful in assisting me to find the perfect pair that suited both my face shape and personal style.
What stood out most was their commitment to customer satisfaction. After my purchase, they followed up to ensure I was happy with my new glasses and provided excellent care in adjusting them for comfort.
Overall, I highly recommend Leightons Basingstoke to anyone in need of eye care. Their professionalism, expertise, and genuine care for their clients truly set them apart. I will definitely be returning for my next eye exam and glasses!!
