For specific gifts, our system only allows you to leave items to clearly named individuals. A group isn’t a fixed legal entity, and leaving items to a group (for example, “my family” or “my children as a group”) creates practical problems for your executor. Groups change over time as people join, leave, or pass away, and your executor is left without clear instructions on who receives what, especially when the item cannot be divided evenly — for example, a collection of paintings. Situations like this can easily lead to disagreements among group members, delays in settling the estate, or even legal challenges. Naming individuals keeps your instructions precise and easy to carry out.

Regarding pricing, everything is laid out at legalwills.ca/pricing. You can choose either an individual plan or the couple plan, which is simply a discounted option allowing two people to create their Wills from separate accounts. To receive the couple price, both accounts must be linked before checkout otherwise the system processes the first purchase as an individual order.

We’re sorry you felt unsupported — but I do want to clarify what actually happened on your ticket, because we did try to help and were ready to call you with a solution.

To resolve your issue, we needed two things from you: (1) A simple explanation of what you were trying to do in the distribution section (percentages, substitutes, children, etc.); and (2) your consent to view your account so we could see the exact setup and fix it.

We asked for this twice, and unfortunately you didn’t provide either answer. Without that information, we couldn’t see your Will, couldn’t diagnose the problem, and couldn’t prepare a meaningful call — which is why the issue remained unresolved.

We always call when a situation requires it, but only once we have the details needed to give clear guidance. In your case, we never received the information that would have allowed us to fix the problem or call you with a solution.

If you still need help, we’re absolutely here — and as soon as you tell us what you’re trying to do in Section 7 and give consent to access your account, we can resolve it quickly.
