From initial consultation through to post surgery examination and final discharge I received excellent service both on the clinical and the administration aspects of the process
All appointments were on time and efficient , staff at all times were well informed and courteous , my reservations on having eye surgery were received politely , and by the time surgery went ahead I was totally reassured , to the extent that I was actually looking forward to the procedure on the second eye

I experienced amazing results from cataract surgery performed on both eyes by Mr Balagan. I have worn glasses since age five and now only need them for close reading. The whole experience from start to finish was conducted by him and the staff in a highly caring, informative and professional manner.

I was unfortunate to develop a macular hole in my left eye. Following delay of treatment by the NHS I made the decision to go private and thankfully my optician referred me to Mr Balaggan. I cannot praise him enough. He was most informative and understanding of my concerns about losing my sight. His initial assessment was that he would try to improve my vision but was unsure how successful it would be. Thankfully the operation was a complete success. I was so pleased that I decided to have my right eye cataract operated on by My Balaggan. In my eyes he is the best and I can't thank him enough.

I’ve had 2 cataract surgeries done by Mr Balaggan with excellent outcomes. Everything explained in great detail and operations successful. Removing the need for me to wear glasses , except for reading small text.

Kam is extremely good at putting you at your ease and explains what he’s doing fully. He knows just what everyone of his patients needs are. As far as Ophthalmologists go I would not see anyone else only Kam

I've been lucky to have had wonderful opticians for many years; Colin Lee, in Lichfield. When they identified a problem as a retinal membrane on my right eye & development of cataracts in both, I was worried. I've been type 1 diabetic for over 50-years, but had been told there was nothing wrong by the NHS 3-years earlier. I tried to get them to look again, but after waiting 10-months was forced to ask for advice from Colin Lee's, who suggested Mr Balaggan, at Little Aston.
He saw me quickly & agreed that I needed help, booking my first operation in March & second in May. Now (in early June) my distance vision and colour perception has improved markedly, with only minor distortions in my right eye and I'm seeing a referred ophthalmologist for the in two days.
Under these circumstances, I'd always expect the specialist to be good, but in the case of Mr Balaggan's team it's "not only" the consultant, who has been as superb as his reputation that precedes him, "but also" the superb team that support him. Between them all, my experience has been exceptionally good and I'd like to thank everyone in Mr Balaggan's team who's looked after me in the last six-months.

Having seen the ophthalmologist, as mentioned above, I’m hoping to get my “lazy eye” corrected by the end of the year as well. It’s been more difficult than I expected at the outset, but to be able to see well without glasses, except for reading, will be a blessed answer to my psyche.

I first met Mr Ballagan at New Cross Hospital, when he diagnosed a Epiretinol Membrane.
I next sought Mr Ballagans advice privately, when my eyesight began to fail over a very short period of time, and he diagnosed cataracts in both eyes.
Mr Ballagan is very attentive, and always thorough in his examinations and diagnostics. I have never felt rushed during appointments, even when he’s been running late.
Both surgeries at the Nuffield hospital were painless and stress free and the theatre team at the Nuffield were so caring and reassuring - big shout out to the anaesthetists who on both occasions, made a real effort to engage and chat, which was lovely of them!
Mr Ballagan was calm, reassuring and efficient.
The results are excellent in first eye, and as very recent, still improving daily in second eye.

After the way I was let down and poorly treated through the NHS for such a long time, meeting Dr Kam Balaggan was the turning point I desperately needed. The care and attention I received from Mr. Balaggan, his team, the nurses, and the catering staff was outstanding. My vision is now fantastic after cataract surgery; I can see both near and far without glasses, which I never thought would be possible.

Because I was very anxious on the day, the staff went out of their way to put me at ease and reassure me. The procedure itself was quick and painless—I was back in my room before I knew it, enjoying tea and a delicious lunch (the food is outstanding!). I have always been apprehensive about eye surgery, but having undergone double lens replacement surgery with Mr Balaggan two weeks ago, all I can say is that I wished I had done it many years ago. From the initial consultation through to the follow-up assessment, the whole experience has been incredible. Having recently had cataract procedures in both eyes, Mr Balaggan ensured that the experience (on both occasions) was a positive one. Mr Balaggan explained every step with care and empathy, allaying any worries I had, and was reassuring from start to finish, including super aftercare too. My recovery from both procedures was seamless, vision in both eyes is now amazing, and I can drive confidently at night again!!! After our local eye hospital saying my eye operation was problematic. Both had Cataracts but with other issues. Fantastic service from start to finish from Kam and his team. The cataract procedure was completed without any problems and had exceptional sight within 48 hrs. and getting better. No complications thereafter. Everything was explained in detail and in advance.
