HSL redeemed themselves in the end
A very variable experience.
Due to disability I required a chair specifically to help with my back and various other difficulties. We chose a chair and all went well until it was delivered. It looked discoloured almost immediately, but I was having a bad patch and it took a while to notify HSL. Two independent reviews later and apparently they said it was "pile shading" and that it was worn out by my use. When I felt better we referred our complaint up the chain to another person who said, "I wouldn't accept that!"
We then chose a replacement chair, with the original payment refunded and paid a load more money, but we now have a splendid chair that meets my needs and does not look worn.
Great staff in store, who were very helpful. One very understanding and helpful member of staff in head office. Beware "pile shading" and being fobbed off for something that isn't right.!

As a well-established family-owned business, HSL takes great pride in offering quality hand-crafted furniture alongside 5* customer service and I am happy that we were able to offer you a satisfactory flexible solution to your issue.
I do note that your replacement chair was offered with no penalty charges, and the extra cost that you subsequently paid simply covered the difference in price to upgrade to the new riser recliner chair.
I am pleased that this has proved a satisfactory outcome for you.

Due to unforeseen circumstances we decided not to go ahead with purchase that same evening. We were told we had a breathing space of 48 hours in which we could cancel with no penalty
However, 8 days have passed with no refund of deposit. We’re told it should take no more than a couple of days?
It can take 14 days to refund. Not told this at the time but now received today

Excellent experience
Great service in store from Richard plenty of information given and lots of questions were answered very patiently. No pushy sales just advice. Ordered my chair on Monday, it was in stock and delivery on Thursday. Kept well informed with regular phone calls from Carl and Lee. Arrived when they said and the put the chair together in the van so I didn't see any packaging. Then delivered it into the room. Very good experience and will definitely be looking to shop there in future.

I was looking for a comfortable chair for my mum who has advanced dementia and who has recently come home from a prolonged hospital stay due to a bad fall.
