Avoid at All Costs – Negligent Handling and Unprofessional Service
I entrusted Homehousekeeping, also known as TheLaundry, with my Moose Knuckles parka jacket, worth €995, for dry cleaning, and it has been an absolute nightmare from start to finish. This company has displayed a shocking level of negligence and unprofessionalism that I feel compelled to warn others about. They also have an app, which you should definitely avoid.
Background
I handed over my jacket, which was in perfect condition with all components intact, including a metal badge on the arm, expecting it to be treated with care. What I got back was a disaster.
Damage
• Detached Badge: The metal badge was found detached in the bottom of the bag they provided, something that should not have happened with proper handling.
• Overall Poor Condition: The jacket appeared to have been thrown into a washing machine rather than being professionally dry cleaned. The quality of the cleaning was abysmal, leaving the jacket looking worse than before.
Lack of Communication and Professionalism
• Poor Communication: Despite multiple attempts to resolve the issue, the company was unresponsive for days. When they did reply, it was with excuses rather than solutions.
• Unprofessional Handling of Price: I was quoted a different price initially and was then randomly charged a higher amount without any prior communication or justification.
• Unacceptable Service Delay: The company kept my jacket for an unreasonable amount of time and provided no updates or explanations for the delays.
Failed Resolution Attempts
• Blame Shifting: Instead of taking responsibility, the company blamed wear and tear and mishandling on my part, which is completely unfounded given the pristine condition in which I handed over the jacket.
• Insufficient Compensation Offer: Their offer of a £25 laundry credit and a refund of the cleaning fee is an insult considering the extent of the damage to a €995 jacket. This does not even begin to cover the loss and inconvenience caused.
• False Claims of Assistance: They claimed to have contacted Moose Knuckles and a tailor for repairs, yet provided no proof or updates on these efforts, leaving me to question the truth of their claims.
• Jacket Not Returned: It has been over a month, and I still have not received my jacket back. This is completely unacceptable and has caused me significant inconvenience.
Conclusion
This experience has been a clear display of Homehousekeeping’s and TheLaundry’s inability to handle high-end garments with the care and professionalism expected. Their negligence has resulted in significant damage to an expensive jacket, and their lack of responsibility and poor customer service have only added to the frustration.
Advice to Others: Avoid Homehousekeeping and TheLaundry at all costs. There are many other dry cleaning services that are more reliable and professional. Don’t risk your valuable items with a company that clearly doesn’t care about their customers or their belongings.
