HMD Legal were great to work with. I required a quick turn around of just 20 working days to complete. They completed it with no fuss at all. The online system you have access to gives you great visibility of where your case is, there is no constant phoning your solicitor or feeling unsure of the progress of your case. Cost wise I found them very competitive within the market which was great as well. The no fuss approach was most appealing to me, they work at speed too. I would say communication is great and better than most solicitors I've worked with in the past but can occasionally be a little slower than I would have liked. But having the online website and app access meant you can check your case progress anytime anywhere. Definitely recommend HMD Legal for anyone who needs to complete in a short time period.

Nicola Peacock my case handler and the whole team were great. Mine was a difficult sale for various unexpected reasons but they took them in their stride. Clearly highly competent and professional and on top of the intricacies. There could be a little better handing over between the team for holidays but that only had a very minor impact which doesn't affect the overall rating.

We instructed HMD legal to deal with our purchase but were told they could no longer act for us as they were not on the panel for Halifax. We had to find new solicitors. However, the way it was dealt with was terrible, we had to chase numerous times before we were told what was happening. The file handler Chamodi was holding up the file by saying there were outstanding queries but would not specify what queries. Very frustrating.

Great service and lovely friendly staff, no stress at all through the whole process. Highly recommended.

We have recently sold our property, our estate agents recommended Hmd so we went with their recommendations what a fantastic decision that turned out to be. Grace who dealt with our house sale was professional and approachable at all times. Very responsive to email requests and kept us informed at all times. When Grace was unavailable we contacted other team members who were also very polite and helpful and aware of our sale. We found the hoowla app to check progress and what Grace was doing very useful, easy access to information regarding our sale and progress. As our exchange and completion was due we had excellent communication from Grace on the day and we can't thank Hmd enough for their help and support and getting our sale through. We would certainly recommend and would use Hmd in the future

We recently used HMD for our house sale and found them incredibly difficult to work with.

Our assigned team member was part time, and impossible to get hold of at any given point as she was either out of office or WFH and unable to take calls. There was a continuous lack of response to our other solicitors which meant that we were being contacted for updates that we did not have. They changed company part way through our case, but did not update any other parties involved, causing delays. There was an unacceptable delay in releasing the funds from our house sale, causing us to get our keys at the last possible minute before close of business.

Would not recommend using for the future.

We used Hannah Dowling for our conveyancing 4 years ago, and came back to her again for something else. Time and time again, Hannah and her team show such a huge amount of professionalism, and an incredible aptitude for responsiveness and speed. It’s difficult to explain in words just how responsive!

As far as I’m concerned, they’re changing the rule books on the way legals have historically been handled.

Even the processes are on-point. They have a proper on-boarding process, which was managed by Donna. This includes the initial quote, intros, then the particular job is passed to the best person for the job.

In my case it was Grace, who again, was in constant contact, very thorough, and at some points seemed to anticipate and act on what I was going to ask her to check next. Genuinely brilliant, and such a refreshing change from the usual experience! I can’t reiterate this enough.

The jobs are also handled using an online system that lets you check progress of everything whenever you want.

All I can say is, if you’ve ever felt a bit disillusioned by the process of instructing a legal team to help with anything, then give them a call, or email.

I cannot recommend HMD Legal highly enough.
