Hired a plate compactor online. At completion it said I would receive an email for confirmation. No email. Phoned the branch "oh yeah don't worry you don't need that, we have your order".
Went to collect on the Saturday & no staff on the hire desk. The 3 employees from the build side couldn't do anything. Took over an hour to get it sorted.
On return there were "system issues" which meant after 45 minutes they couldn't return my deposit. "We'll get it sorted and call you" I was assured. I've been chasing them for 3 days and still haven't had my deposit returned.

Hired a aerator to fix both lawns, paid deposit and fees. Arranged to have delivered on Monday morning and took the day off work to get the job done.
It arrived almost in the afternoon, went to go and use it and no tines fitted.
Impossible to get hold of someone to sort out, when they finally answered the phone was told it came from Exeter branch not the Wellington one I hired it from, and they unfortunately don’t know where the bits are to make the machine work.
Also said they would call me back within twenty minutes with an update, still nothing.

Excellent service, fast reply with a quote and reasonably priced for a rotavator hire unlike some other companies out there. Anthony (Hire Manager) was very flexible with drop off/pick up times and responsive to calls/texts. Overall a very good experience.

This review is for Hirebase Milton Keynes branch. Signed up with two ID’s. The guy there was so helpful. We rented a digger. Next day came on time. Also price/deposit was really good. They also insured it. Amazing experience. Looking forward to work again!

Mixed experience with hiring a mini digger from Swindon Hirebase. Initially the web system seems good, but as per others experience there seems to be a disconnect with the local office who did not respond to the web order with any confirmation, but had taken a £600 deposit none the less. Had to ring several times to get the drop off confirmed. Delivery and pickup were on time and no issues. Lastly I did not receive any invoice after the hire despite email and phone calls, meaning that my deposit was not returned. If I had not followed up would my deposit have been returned? After chasing up finally got invoice and deposit returned. Overall a lot of hassle despite the equipment being good value to rent. Not sure I would use again unless really stuck.

I think this business might even be based on scamming. How can you take hire fees and deposits for equipment they know they don’t have? Weeks later we have still not been repaid, and despite unconvincing excuses and promises I suspect I’ll be taking them to court. Don’t touch with a barge pole!

So the online web system looks like it checks stock in your local branch but it doesn’t. Yet they still take your money up front. Issues then arose in trying to find the equipment to supply my order but only after I rang up as I hadn’t received a confirmation email. Chap in store did his best to help me but the company’s poor IT system had let him down from the beginning. In this day and age when so much is done online it really should be better. Will never use again and do not recommend.

Cannot praise the Pompey lads for all their help! We hired a sander package and the equipment was clean, up to date and first rate. Helped us out to car and lifted it in... as pensioners we need all the help we can get! They are very friendly and so nice to see smiles on their faces and a ‘CAN DO’ attitude! I’ve used other local hire companies and these lads top the lot for equipment, helpfulness and professionalism! Together with BuildBase it’s a terrific combination. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
