I hired a floor sander on 15th sept. 2025 from Ipswich through the Stowmarket branch. It was delivered on time and did the job. But, had to wait nearly a week for it to be picked up and I am STILL waiting for the account to be sorted and the balance of my deposit to be refunded. I have phoned and gone in person - every time the excuse is understaffing and too busy. No-one ever returns calls. I phoned Stowmarket again this morning and got the same old excuse. Not good enough!😒

I ordered two beam lifters online from Oxford branch, paid in full, and confirmed a delivery date. However, on the scheduled day, I contacted them only to learn they had completely overlooked my order. A second delivery attempt was arranged four days later, but again, they failed to process my order due to an overlooked confirmation email, and the equipment was not delivered. Ultimately, I canceled my order and sourced the equipment from Didcot Hire, which provided next-day delivery. The consistent disorganization and lack of communication were highly disappointing and unacceptable for a professional service.

The hire of a concrete mixer was fine. It has been three months since though and I am yet to receive my deposit back. Made contact with the branch I hired from, another branch, and also the sales emailed provided in responses to other negative reviews. No response from anyone. Poor customer service!

On the day of delivery , no contact from hirebase , so I called them , local branch had no idea about order , add to that they did not have one in stock and their delivery lorry was broken “and head office knew about that “

Now waiting to get money back in order to book via a more reliable professional company

Hired from hirebase in calne, the initial phone call was very informative and friendly, went in to set up an account and pay the deposit, Was greated by Mike and Simon who were amazingly helpful, Got the kit required did the job quickly, have to say the whole experience was great from start to end.

Rude and unprofessional

I hired a dehumidifier yesterday which was dropped off on time and help given bringing it in. Good prices and knowledgeable friendly staff.

Hired a chipper two weeks ago, nobody on hire desk so took nearly an hour to sort it out. Chipper was bigger than the one I ordered so wouldn’t fit in van. Eventually delivered 3 hours later. Chipper returned on time, with no problem, but deposit not paid back two weeks later. Have called the branch twice this week to be assured that they are dealing with it but still no money returned.

Hired equipment from Hire Base Longwell Green, what a great team. Very helpful staff in the store and delivery driver went out of his way to help this time and on the previous visit. Really pleased, great service, will definitely use them again. Well done guys!

I’m assuming this is a joke company. Hired through website and took money straight away. Afternoon before due to be delivered still had no contract from them so rang local branch. Was told they haven’t got what I hired at this branch (and no one contacted me to say this). Told the refund would have to be issued from head office (good luck getting any contact information for that). Rang local office again to chase and told they will email head office and cc me in, still nothing. So it’s down to me to chase for my money back( near £600) for a tool you hired me that you don’t even have. Proper joke company. Definitely avoid!

No member off staff appropriately trained for issue of hire equipment. It took 30 minutes to complete the process. Will probably look at hiring from somewhere else in future.

I find the hire branch informative and helpful. Their communication is good and if asked to supply an item of plant which is unusual or something not particularly easy to supply they have always obliged. Particular thanks to James Walters who runs the hire desk at Valley Road, Hughenden Valley, High Wycombe.

I went on the Hirebase site and ordered an item for hire from Peckham branch in 3 days time. Order went through and payment immediately taken. Invoice said I would be contacted to advise when item ready. Heard nothing so tried to call them day before but no answer despite many attempts. Tried calling on the day of collection and still no answer. I called another branch which should be open and told no one there today. Phoned their asscociate company at Peckham and told no one also at Hirebase today. Website has their opening hours and should be open. So no one could be bothered to let me know this. I needed item this weekend and now have to go elsewhere and also try and get my money back from Hirebase.

Simon at Newbury Hirebase is one of the most exceptional members of staff I have been fortunate enough to deal with. Nothing is too much trouble for him and he goes above and beyond to exceed customer expectations. If I could give 10 stars I would - having been a loyal customer of hirebase for several years, I have always had a good experience but the assistance I received recently from Simon has been standout. We are so grateful to him for all of his help and cannot recommend this branch of hirebase more highly.
