Not really a place for Mature students

Just terrible when it comes to Mature students. You give up so much to go and learn at this institution and they don't even have a single bursary to offer. Yet the greedy vipers make so much money from fee paying and international students. The admin staff are beyond incompetent. A single enquiry always seems to turn into a disection of your grammar. Just pathetic! They like to gather unnecessary medical data to share with third party companies. Students struggle without any extra financial assistance and when you apply their main concerns are that the tuition fee has been paid. I can name several students who are without any maintenance payments and are incurring utility debts due to this bumbling universities inept registry department and their continuous failure to register students attendance. The university has also successfully erased a lot of useful tutors who are black and it's very intentional and questionable.

Avoid and save yourself from paying a lot of money — and from being shown YouTube ads during lectures.

I graduated from the 3D Modelling and Animation course at the University of Greenwich in 2024 with First Class Honours. When I started this course at such a prestigious university, I was confident that there would be good employability opportunities after graduation. Unfortunately, that was not the case.

The information and skills you actually gain at the university are very limited. Looking back, instead of spending three years studying and getting a diploma that doesn’t offer any real value, I would have rather spent that time working, building experience, and saving money — instead of wasting it all on university fees.

The biggest disappointment is that even if you complete every coursework and project from the university, your portfolio will still be weak. The program only teaches very basic stuff, and there’s little to no practical guidance on how to actually succeed in the 3D industry. Even after graduation, I kept improving my skills on my own — for example, I started sculpting characters in ZBrush to build a stronger portfolio — but even with that extra effort, it’s still not enough to secure a proper job in the 3D industry.

To make things worse, many tutors simply showed YouTube videos during lectures — and they didn’t even bother to install an ad blocker. So instead of learning, we were forced to sit through ads before watching one or two minutes of actual content. It felt lazy, unprofessional, and like a complete waste of time and money.

I even reached out to one of my lecturers for advice on improving my portfolio and finding entry-level opportunities. The reply I got was a generic, copy-pasted message straight from ChatGPT — the tutor didn’t even bother to remove the AI disclaimer. That moment really showed me how little personal support students receive.

Overall, my experience was extremely disappointing. The University of Greenwich may look impressive on paper, but in reality, it offers very little value for the money and effort you put in.

Poor experience

Really poor experience in applying for a post grad course. Registration process is not clear and communication also takes long enough that your registration becomes invalid. Not worth the time.

would not recommend living in that accommodation next to Sainsbury or the uni if people like this working there.
Not only she was rude but also turned personal which is unacceptable

Unprofessional

I recently contacted the University of Greenwich via their main phone line for prospective students and was quite disappointed with the experience. The waiting time was excessively long, and when I finally got through, the representative (Aneeza) ended the call before I could ask my second question. This felt unprofessional and left my issue unresolved. I expected a higher standard of service from a university. I hope they review their phone service process and improve it for future callers.

Administrative Staff will turn your university experience into hell on earth!!!!!

Most lectures are really good and knowledgeable I really loved being part of the Natural Resources Institute the best department to be in as they made my experiences less traumatic and helped me to ensure I was supported which I truly appreciated, and the support with placement from Jessica was amazing such a great experience.

What I did not appreciate was being taught outdated racist narratives like Darwin theory that has been debunked and false narratives on Africa which you do not expect from lectures, unless they wish to perpetuate racism and racist ideologies. I also wouldn't recommend anyone with sickle cell anaemia or an invisible illness to attend the university of Greenwich as I was turned down extenuating circumstances repeatedly and had to appeal which affected my studies, the lack of knowledge on disabilities and lack of empathy to disabled students is shocking if you are from a certain demographic, I did my degree and received some understanding and support only having to appeal once, but as a returning student to do my masters I found the extenuating circumstances team to be very discriminatory and misinformed, and was repeatedly turned down and had to appeal, which was eventually awarded and now supports a legal case against the university. The University of Greenwich administration and finance team and management are disorganised, unprofessional, and ill mannered. I had an administration issue ignored by them for a year and 5 months seriously risking my health and masters degree which they still refuse to acknowledge this misconduct that caused a retake, and now harass me to pay for student finance uk and the university of Greenwich mistakes. I would not recommend this university to anyone or allow my own children to attend this university to experience such lack of empathy, breeches of the Equality Act 2010 in concerns of race and disability, and the unprofessional conduct from the administrative staff and extenuating circumstances teams many students rely on. I wouldn't want anyone to experience what I have been through in this past 2 years, and now have to seek justice and support after working so hard to pass while being mistreated by the university’s administrative staff and ignored by their governing bodies until I involved outside entities. Its been a disappointing and disheartening experience as a disabled student especially when they advertise how great student wellbeing is but they fundamentally only support the university not the student when they are at fault.

I have already sent email to complain team as it has been outline on the complain guideline by university:

To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing to formally submit a complaint regarding the unresolved status of my international scholarship application, and the ongoing lack of support and communication from the relevant departments at the University of Greenwich.
Background:
I applied for the international scholarship for the academic year 2024/25 as part of my application and received written confirmation that I was eligible for a scholarship of £1,000–£2,000, subject to completion of my Pre-Sessional English (PSE) course.
I completed the PSE course on 30 August 2024, and as advised, I visited the Student Centre on 3 September 2024 to proceed with the scholarship.
I was told that it was too late to process it for Term 1, but I could reapply for Term 2. This was confirmed verbally by the International team.
Attempts to Resolve the Issue:
Since September 2024, I have made multiple visits to the Student Centre and sent numerous follow-up emails to the International Office and the Scholarships team.
I have not received any response since ever.
the Finance Team also followed up on my behalf, sending a formal escalation to senior staff and the Head of Department, and she too confirmed that she received no response ad advised to make formal complain.
Impact:
This scholarship was a key factor in my decision to choose the University of Greenwich over other offers, despite the higher tuition fees.
I also paid £1,200 for a two-week PSE course, in part based on the confirmation that I would later receive this scholarship.
The continued lack of communication has placed significant financial and emotional strain on me as an international student.
I have now been placed and approved on a payment plan for tuition through the Finance Office under the “Unforeseen Circumstances” process.
Unforeseen Circumstances Application:
Due to medical and financial challenges (detailed in my attached letter), I submitted a formal Unforeseen Circumstances application, which was approved by the Finance Office. As part of this application, I again referenced the outstanding scholarship.
The Finance Team agreed to a monthly tuition payment plan until June 2025, based on the understanding that the scholarship would significantly support my ability to meet these obligations.
The scholarship is not just a bonus—it is a critical part of my financial plan, and I have attached the full “Letter of Details and Explanation” submitted in support of my Unforeseen Circumstances request, which outlines this clearly.
Formal Complaint and Outcome Sought:
I am formally requesting that the University:
Acknowledge and validate my original scholarship application and the written confirmation of my eligibility.
Award the international scholarship that was promised to me, in full, as per the terms outlined in the original confirmation.
Provide a written explanation as to why my previous emails and visits were ignored and what steps are being taken to improve communication going forward.
I expect a formal response to this complaint, in line with the University's complaints procedure. I am attaching all relevant correspondence and supporting documentation for your reference.
Thank you for your urgent attention to this matter.

Colin Allen Is rude member of the staff

Colin Allen is supposed to handle student and staff reports professionally, but in reality, he comes across as extremely rude. The way he talks to students is completely unacceptable, and I honestly don’t think he’s suited for his job. I’ve seen many complaints about him, and when I checked the reviews on Google, I found that others have had the same experience. He clearly lacks the ability to handle sensitive situations properly.

From my own experience, he has treated my cases unfairly in the past. To be honest, I feel like the entire staff is unfair.

Computing Staff

I had an extremely disappointing experience with the university’s computing staff. They were disorganized and unprofessional. Due to a scheduling conflict, I attended their event on 19.10 instead of 6.11, specifically to hear from the cybersecurity academic team. However, the information shared was basic and unhelpful, with the staff simply repeating my own responses back to me as if they were their made up answers. They misunderstand questions and even laughed at you when they don’t hear and understand the English coming out your mouth, which I found incredibly rude and disrespectful. Their behaviour and lack of support has led me to withdraw my offer. Disgusting behaviour from the computing lecturer and senior cyber lecturer that was sitting next to him at the undergrad event.

Letter of proof of study

This university is a joke. Taking me a week just to request a simple letter to confirm my studies and then they refund me then direct me to a useless portal that won't even let me enter an address. This needs to be addressed urgently as this can cost people jobs, time and money.

AWFUL UNIVERSITY

I am extremely disappointed with the Greenwich University admissions office for international students. Their communication is terrible; they take 12-13 days to respond to each email, which is highly unprofessional. I had been requesting my course invoice for the past 2-3 months, and despite multiple follow-ups, they never provided it. Finally, after months of waiting, they informed me that I had missed the deadline for my CAS deposit. This is incredibly unfair and frustrating, especially since the delay was entirely due to their lack of response.

Because of this, I have now lost an entire academic year. As an international student, I feel disrespected and disregarded by their negligence and lack of support. I strongly advise against choosing this university, as their inefficiency and unprofessionalism can cause significant setbacks for students. This experience has been nothing short of awful.

Job after Master

I complaint about my master in International Business that I finished in 2019; but after I received the diploma the opportunities for a new job were 0. I even contact the university and went to severall meeting of post-graduated student job center opportunities in the Royal Union center and went in a 1 on 1 with a mentor; after the opportunities were still none and I had to leave UK because I was not happy with my cost of living in London and opportunities after made an 'prestigious' course. Nowadays I keep trying to send an email to the contact team of student job center and they simply ignore me. If I known that it would be like this, I would never never started my Master in this university.

Poor Univ Dont join

i was happy when i joined the uni , but after few weeks
i felt like i'm studying in india besides sometimes the classes are full and you cant even find a seat to follow the course , i highly disappointed about that uni

If having the slightest clue of what you're doing will save the world then I'm sorry, the customer service in university of Greenwich will send us all to eternal damnation with no remorse. Even UCAS complain about them not knowing what they're doing

A truly awful university

A truly awful university. Poor quality staff who don't care about their subjects or their students. Most students who graduate from the Business School don't get graduate jobs. An utter waste of time and money.

I went to an interview at the…

I went to an interview at the university of Greenwich on the 3rd of May. The guy that showed me around was a first year student. I don't know his surname but his first name was Louis and he is studying Graphic Design. He was friendly and welcoming and very thorough. My interviewee was also very friendly and I felt as if I had known him for years. A week after this I was emailed with an unconditional offer. I was shown around the Campus even though it wasn't an Open Day, which was brilliant as I couldn't attend the Open Day on the 4th of March. Amazing! After attending this interview if I was given an unconditional offer; I was definitely going to accept as for me it stood out from the rest in many ways.
