SCAM CITY. Overrun by bot bidders and they could give two shits. This place is a charity like I’m a 10 foot tall giant. And then they jack up shipping and handling to 25 $30 over the closing price. If I had Elon Musk money, I would see the hhhuck out of these people. Charlatans all.

The employee's are under paid and over worked. Every time they check out a costumer they are tasked with asking for round-up donations to a company who is making millions of dollars. And within the last year I have personally seen their pricing all put quadruple. You could at one time enter any store and the prices were the same for each product. (Such as parts that were 5.99 are now anywhere from 6.99 to well over 29.99 for something donated to the community to be sold at a discount price. If this is a non profit business then why are the prices so high. And if you a sales associate or manager for help to lower the pricing they refuse to do so stating that new company policy says that the price is now generated by the computer and that is what they must sale it for. This never happened in the past.

First time there in a couple of years. Then they changed their return policy to store credit, no refunds. Yesterday I purchased a couple of items that did not work out and learned they changed again. Instead of a store credit you can use any time, you now have to find something while you are there. What will it be next year. No returns at all? Thanks for showing your customers how much you care about them.

I walked in hoping to find a cheap T-shirt and walked out questioning the entire global economy—because apparently, a faded shirt with a mystery stain is now worth $12.99. The real treasure hunt isn’t finding a bargain; it’s finding anything that isn’t priced like it was personally blessed by a celebrity.

My personal favorite was the used shoes—clearly worn during someone’s entire cardio journey—marked at a bold, confident $19.99. Truly inspirational. If inflation ever needs a spokesperson, Goodwill is ready.

At these prices, I’m convinced Goodwill is secretly auditioning to become a luxury retailer. Any day now, they’ll start handing out complimentary champagne as you browse the $7 coffee mugs from 1998. But hey, if you’ve ever wanted to experience the thrill of paying full retail for items that were literally donated for free, Goodwill has you covered.

They have raised all their prices and they work their employees, which 90% have disabilities, so hard, pushing them to get higher and higher hang counts, all the while the manager and assistant managers steal items. The management get a percentage of sales, so they price stuff so high. You use to be able to get good deals on items, but those days are over.

It isn’t that some nonprofit CEOs make big bucks. It’s that most nonprofit employees are paid too little. General managers are paid a salary plus bonus at years end. Less employees, higher sales prices, increases manager bonuses. The Bitters store operates for profit, not for a helping hand.

I have a friend who recently worked at Goodwill at the Bitters location in San Antonio, TX. She said that employees dislike the general manager because he is very strict and doesn't allow any overtime because he wants a bigger bonus. This manager always blames employees for any indiscretion. This GM wants higher productivity without any overtime. My friend also mentioned she was very frightened because of theft and the lack of security.

Most employees quit or get fired because they just can't meet the outlandish productivity demands. All the veteran employees know that every General Manager won't last very long in this store. She said seasoned employees know when the General Manager is leaving before they do. Customers are always complaining about higher prices and some are starting to shop at other stores. Higher employee turnover means bigger year end bonus.

Regular shoppers know it since they hear all the dirt from previous and current employees. Even customers are angry that the employees are treated like trash. Customers listen to illegals and this store hires illegals because they work for lower wages.

Working illegals, theft, employee abuse. She said less people means more bonuses. There is a huge amount of unemployed people, so organizations can afford to be picky when hiring employees. This is not the case with Goodwill, they just exploit new employees and they're expecting a high turn over rate, that's their hidden secret. Goodwill hires anyone because employees are expendable assets. San Antonio is a sanctuary city and Goodwill fits right in. Goodwill is following the left culture of pretending to stop theft without a security guard and it puts employees lives in danger. My friend said she is glad she doesn't work there anymore and sleeps better at night.

Exploiting people for monetary gain is bad karma.

I've always approached Goodwill Industries when it came to donating items. But no more! I offered them my 18' runabout with an I/O motor and trailer. Value, $1500-$2500. They were excited and put me thru a long process to verify it's condition and valid registration! I followed evey request, and they finally said they'd take it, and "thanks for your donation." I just got a callback from them saying "I'm sorry, but your donation is not of value to us!" From " we'll take anything" from to" "No value to us!" I'll never donate another thing to them!

I have been going to Goodwill at several locations and have had some very pleasant experiences but that has all changed. Not only did they stop the $1.00 days but they also stopped their 2/3 color specials. It is shameful how this company is run. Things have gotten worse as their items are poor quality with outrageous prices. I have not shopped there since this new policy. My friends no longer go as well.

STAY CLEAR OF THIS GOODWILL LOCATION-----VERY DECEPTIVE & VERY DISHONEST---------This Goodwill online location incorrectly listed the wrong size of the item we purchased & refused to respond to our message asking for a return label. We had to ask our bank's claim's department to recover our funds. Goodwill's staff stated to our bank that they issued a return label after Goodwill's staff deleted all our messages asking for a return label. This was 100% untrue as their staff ignored our messages asking for a return label. Of course the bank's claim's department needed those messages to investigate. We have given this Goodwill's legal department 7 days to provide a return label or we will proceed with legal that will allow our attorneys to get all the notes that deleted attempting to remove evidence that supports our claim for a full refund. IT SHOULD BE -5 BECAUSE THEY STEAL FROM THE POOR AND GIVE TO THE RICH with tax breaks & loop holes. WHERE DOES ALL THIS MONEY GO?!! I’ve researched it on multiple occasions and I can’t find anything even on some website that states nonprofits gains & assets, which was in millions for some stores/regions. Yes, we know they’re making a lot on all the highly priced items that was PURE PROFIT other than very little overhead of MIN WAGE PAID EMPLOYEES, except for the ones paid much less, the ones with DISABILTIES PAID A FRACTION OF MIN WAGE. That’s who the entire organization is supposed to be about helping! I can’t fin any actual numbers put towards anything specifically. NOTHING OBJECTIVE= NO FACTS! It’s all vague subjective wording, meaning they can do it once for it to be true or more than once to use plural words and imply they’re helping PEOPLE.

I tried researching from the perspective of someone with disability that needs help. I did multiple searches for jobs and training with nothing leading me to Goodwill. Without any research I could tell you what Salvation Army does. I’ve seen it, heard about it, known people helped by them. IVE NEVER EVER MET SOMEONE THAT RECEIVED ANY KIND OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, LIFE SKILLS ETC FROM GOODWILL. HAVE U? I learned they’re not consistent around the country like I previously thought. They’re run differently with different store rules and ways of doing things as well as how/where claim money is going. I found a region or store here & there with some numbers. I’ve seen many small nonprofits on Ellen or Kelly Clarkson excited telling what they do and how many they’ve helped. You hear that from fundraisers for social services and medical research all the time! X amount raised for cancer research, X number of families housed, X students put through college, o n& on. IVE NEVER HEARD A STATEMENT PUT OUT BY GOODWILL OF HOW THEYVE ASSISSTED ANYONE IN A BETTER LIFE &/or p/ INDEPENDENCE! Completely GUESTIMATING, they probably make enough in a month to cover overhead for rest of the year, 2 months max, that’s including rent which is possibly mortgage or nothing because they own it or will. That’s 10 months of solid profits. Even if I’m way off base, have you checked out they’re online auctions? NO OVERHEAD because it’s just the stores around the country posting. The buyer pays s&h, and the handling charges are more than enough to pay for shipping materials & hourly wage of employee handling it. THEY HAVE IMANY JEWELRY ITEMS IN THE TENS IF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS FOR 1 ITEM. The amount of ‘scrap’ precious metal thousands a day. Then there are car auctions which rarely go for less than a thousand, but there’s so much more high end designer items pulling in hundreds + per item. There’s no way Goodwill isn’t taking in over a billion a year. Where is it going? Even if there are numbers somewhere, that’s meaningless w/o the proof to back up that’s where it goes. If they are spending it like they say, it’s irrelevant if there’s no one receiving any benefit from their programming. Why aren’t there any people boasting in appreciation to how Goodwill changed their life in some way.?

Pulling off the color of the week for Noone to be able to get them on Sundays .99 day is pathetic.some people can't afford your overpriced clothing that is donated to you and depend on the .99 sunday.

I used to work at goodwill; it was the most horrendous place to work there. Every day was a nightmare for me. The work environment was so toxic that people would get into trouble just for breathing. The management team was clueless about running the store and handling any issues. One thing I didn't like was the leader's ignorance when it came to serious matters like threats, harassment, and bullying. Throughout my time there I was constantly bullied and harrassed by this girl named Cryssyia, she was one of the manager's favorite workers. I told management countless times that she keeps bullying but they always ignore the issues. Not only that but the whole company is built on dishonesty they keep lying to the community and good workers about their morals, and they don't have any morals. The only thing they strive for is screwing good people over and rewarding bad behaviors and promoting toxic workers to leadership positions when they don't deserve them. Please don't work there, save yourself the years of therapy, and find a better job that treats you like a human being, not a number. Also please stop donating there they are not doing anything good for the community they are only profiting from your goodness and your donations. Thank you and have a blessed day!

I am compelled to disclose the serious issues I encountered during my employment at Goodwill, located at 625 Main Ave, Brookings, SD. Throughout my tenure, I faced relentless bullying based on my disability and background, with no corrective actions taken by management despite repeated reports. The failure to address such hostile work conditions is in direct violation of federal and state anti-discrimination laws.

It is also alarming that the company employs multiple individuals with criminal backgrounds or close relatives in correctional facilities without ensuring appropriate conduct and standards are maintained. Furthermore, donations are frequently mishandled, and attempts to report these infractions resulted in retaliatory actions, culminating in anyone termination. This constitutes a breach of whistleblower protection laws, designed to protect employees who report unethical or illegal activities.

The internal environment at this Goodwill location starkly contrasts with the organization's publicly stated values and mission. The lack of accountability and support not only undermines employee welfare but also jeopardizes the trust of donors and the community.

For those considering employment or engagement with this Goodwill location, I advise caution and thorough due diligence to avoid the detrimental experiences I have endured.

Pricing!!!!! ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS!!! I'm ashamed that I even went to any of their locations or online. So much cheaper to by retail at any other store. The only things I'll donate now are bags of trash. So get ready they'll be headed your way Goodwill.

Needs to have their status changed to “for profit”… The owner is a manipulative schemer.

Tried returning a teapot that was smashed under the taped down lid. Was told with a smirk that they do not offer refunds under ANY circumstances. Yes, this is the only business that offers no refunds at all, that I know of. They have NO DRESSING ROOMS, they will accept a return for an exchange only, and that within two weeks. They pay no taxes on the profits they make from donations of used goods either. The managers are dedicated to this kind of abuse, many of the employees are abusive and unhappy in my experience. The tone of the store is generally sullen. I myself in many years of shopping at "Goodwill", have only once seen someone disabled on the floor in training, and that was in Wisconsin. How did we get here? How can they continue this way unchallenged?
A separate issue is the quality of merch. At this particular store, I saw a used poly pantsuit for $79.99, and some poly pants for $49.99. The racks are crammed with dusty polyester and rayon, and it's a days' work to cull through that smelly stuff to find a quality item. I won't go there any longer.
One workaround for a return at a "Goodwill" is to find any lightweight, easy to carry item of the exact equal price, return your item and give yourself another two weeks to find something. Then go to another store until this "non-profit" changes its tune for good.

Goodwill in Beckley West Virginia I'm glad to have bathrooms. There was a men's bathroom and a women's bathroom. Now the sign is either and or. And men are women can go into both stalls. For a while they had both out of order. At least they're open back up now as of today I see was open. But the toilet paper in the bathroom you have to turn a knob to get a little bit of toilet paper out a little by little turning off. That is just very irritating. The bathroom the toilet paper is really really bad thing. I've never seen toilet paper so hard to try to get out of the holder. That's just absolutely disgusting.
