I had a problem downloading the App

I had a problem downloading the App . Having sent their customer service team a quote from my phone on Boxing Day which stated that it was not possible to download the said app.I received a reply on the 27th December with suggestions on how to rectify the problem. Since that date I have had emails from the team asking how downloading went.

Great customer service

I have Gocycle bike for a few years and each time I contact Gocycle support team for a enquiry I receive a great support. They are very friendly and knowledgeable. I’m very happy with the support and experience I received. Thanks

No-gocycle - poor battery life

After much research and comparing various competitors, I purchased the G4i model in May 2022.
So I feel my review is a fair one after long use.

I use it for my daily commute, approximately 4km (roughly 20-30mins a day) each way. I also purchased the additional rear luggage rack that works well.

I love the bike and enjoy my commute on it. It has many positives...it is comfortable to ride, easy to close, easy to lift (I go up the stairs with it), tyres are robust and I only had 2 flat tyres in 20 months.

I have only recently had to change the outer tyres due to grip.

Even the mudguards are excellent to protect against the water and the light for night cycling is fantastic. I have used this bike for my commute during extreme rain, snow and ice...and of course the nice weather. It has been a joy to ride throughout.

So why the negative feedback? Unfortunately, I have since November 2023 been experiencing very poor battery life. By very poor I mean, I can complete my 8km commute and my battery life is very low. If I deviate from my route or make an additional stop then I am lucky if I have enough juice to make it home and on many occasions, it has become a push bike.

I was in touch/back & forth with customer services for approx. 3-4 weeks to conduct various tests but no fault could be detected. I also sent the bike to their recommended Gocycle service centre and after a full service, they could also not explain why the battery life is now so poor.

I was regularly informed that it could be due to the cold weather...however, my commute is short. The bike is stored in a warm environment both at home and in the office. So the battery is "exposed" to cold weather for a short time.

I can only now expect the battery life to continue to deteriorate and eventually become a dud. So I will have to invest in a new costly battery for the bike in the future.

This is very disappointing considering the price I paid I thought I was purchasing a premium quality product. The bike was a very big investment for me.

Even customer service was less than helpful in the end...they didn't even check up to see how the
full service went with their recommended Gocycle service centre.

Due to the high cost of the bike, lack of battery life and nobody being able to assist this is my reason for the one star.

Issues that occurred to my bike were handled appropriately and resolved. Some required research to figure out issues and also in one case required a warranty issue.

Poor Customer Support

Poor Customer Support
I had the Gocycle less than two weeks and used it twice before the cable was nipped during unfolding and clamping the handlebars. The handlebars had been lowered which created some slack in the cable. Within the video instructions there is no mention of checking the cable prior to clamping. Gocycle's response was this was my error and therefore I was liable for the repair. Having sent numerous e-mails for a progress update, I have failed to get a response. I am struggling to see having purchased a quoted "highly engineered cycle" that this has occurred and/or there was no warning to check the position of the cable before clamping.
I was also disappointed to learn that the locally appointed service centre can't repair the Gocycle whom merely act as a post box to return it to Gocycle. Given the recommended service interval and the level of customer support experienced within the first two weeks of receiving an expensive cycle, I am not looking forward to have to return the Gocycle for every service. Had I known about this earlier it would have influenced my decision to seek an alternative
daily commuting cycle.

We are disappointed to learn your initial experience with your Gocycle has not been satisfactory. Please can you advise your frame number and we will look into the repair and update you offline accordingly.

Our dealer support network is continuously growing and improving, we have dedicated Gocycle approved repair centres worldwide who are experienced and highly trained in conducting services and repairs. However there are certain more complicated electrical repairs which we prefer to conduct onsite in our own workshop by our own technicians. Rest assured when it comes to the routine annual servicing, this will be able to be conducted by your local Gocycle approved service centre.

Black Friday Deal complexity BUT A HAPPY ENDING

We ordered 2 Gocycle G4 in Matte black from Fully Charged London Bridge on the Black Friday deal.We paid our deposit. One was in stock, with the other ordered from Gocycle. Some 3 weeks later we were informed that there were no black G4s available. We were keen to have a matching pair so ended up paying significantly more for a 2021 stock model elsewhere without mudguards and lights.
The 2021 model works well - but we do need mudguards in this weather.
HAPPY ENDING- the parent Gocycle company have been kind to us and Emily has organised free mudguards and a discount on the lights

We are disappointed to learn that you were unable to purchase the model/colour you initially wanted. Whilst we are proactively communicating our stock availability with our Dealer & Showroom partners, it appears in this instance Fully Charger did not operate with the latest information.

As you can imagine during a Black Friday promotion interest and demand is at it's peak and stock availability can change very quickly. When purchasing directly via our website it indicates what models are available and the estimated lead time. We will be debriefing with Fully Charged London Bridge, to understand where this issue has arisen.

As a gesture of goodwill for the complications you faced throughout this order we will arrange for a set of Front and Rear Mudguards to be sent to you with our compliments.

Amassing product and so simple to…

Amassing product and so simple to assemble when the bikes arrived.

When the GoCycle app was installed on the phone, it was easy to access and set up each of the bikes from one phone.

I was tempted to set up the bikes with the USA settings to allow for greater powered speed, but decided to stick with the European/Uk Pedelec rules, you never know who is going to catch you speeding and if involved in an accident there would be little chance avoiding the consequences.

Fantastic level of service from Gocycle…

Fantastic level of service from Gocycle representative. Going the extra mile to answer questions and get an awry delivery sorted (blame DPD) to an entirely different delivery service and to a different location.

Can only recommend the company and the bike is utterly fantastic making a 25 mile daily commute that much more manageable and comfortable!

GoCycle Manual Needs Hardware and Software Updates

The bike arrived at my location in the great box and complete. I had these difficulties:
1. The battery charge hole in the bike did not match the receptacle on the battery, so I could not charge the battery.
2. There were no instructions and the on-line manual does not tell one to turn the lever for removing the battery. So, the battery refuses to move and the charger plug will not fit into the hole on the side of the bike.
3. With the remaining battery charge I tried to synch via bluetooth with my Android phone. Android said the app was too old to use with my phone.
4. I didn't want to break the battery pull and the app software issue was certainly something I was not going to repair, so I took the bike to my local Gocycle outlet, about an hour away in north Sarasota, FL. Fortunately, the Gocycle tech there was outstanding - he knew about the turning issue and that some batteries come not fully inserted into the compartment. Problem solved removing the battery, twisting the difficult to move ring, and using a second shove to fully seat the battery in the compartment.
5. The software issue was solved only because the Gocycle tech called GC.usa and talked to a rep there who provided the link to a software upgrade for Android that was in Beta development. Again, problem solved by the GoCycle expert at the north Sarasota outlet - truely outstanding!
An Update: After resolving the delivery and synch issues I have found the G4 to be everything I expected. It is a well-built product and a joy to ride. Well done GC!

Ergonomic, simple piece of kit

The GoCycle is an ergonomic, simple piece of kit. Arrived in a neat box with demo videos to set up. The battery wasn’t charged and the charge socket misaligned with the frame but an easy fix. Really happy with my purchase.

Slick But Design Issues and Poor Support

I was a GoCycle enthusiast and bought two of the GS models. I liked their style, integration and technology. They were leaders in the field and created something special.

However, living with GoCycle has had its issues and has now soured with my latest issues. I’ll get to the chronic issue shortly, but here are my other issues:

1. The folding is not quite as straight forward as it could be and requires the removal of fenders and awkwardly balancing the bike in the process. I had a folding Dahon that avoided these issues.

2. The seat bracket is a nightmare. If you put on your own seat, be ready for a lot of frustration keeping all of the bits together and aligned. I have many bikes and have not had such a challenge with any of them. Something simple made hard. Fortunately, one may only need to do this once.

3. The lights only stay steady on. Most riders prefer flashing lights at least in the daytime for increased visibility and this should have been included in the design or upgraded - especially the rear light that is already not very bright. I recommend to buy and use a better one.

4. The bike is not really meant for traveling by plane. Removing the battery pack is not simple. The “travel case” is limited in utility and not meant to be checked as luggage either. If this is factoring into your plans, be aware.

5. While minor, the bits and pieces on the bike are not quite right: The plastic pin for the rear suspension is flimsy and also easily lost. If traveling, keep a bolt and nut handy to replace it. The wiring shielding frayed early on - look to wrap or cable tie the ends. The lights are easily dislodged so be careful in assembly and when stowing. The handlebar pin is without a tether so be sure to keep it well secured in place even after folding.

6. The App for the bike used to be very user friendly and led the pack. Revisions have now made it more difficult to use features and overall less user-friendly. This also includes registration that is unnecessarily complex and restrictive.

However, here is the big one that has caused me to sour on GoCycle’s design and customer support:

The twin kickstand on the bike is a particularly poor design that is destined for early failure. I have had three of these fail even though we have used these bikes sparingly (2-3 times per year while touring). The issue is that the engagement ball that links the right and left side of the kickstand to move together fails and the failure causes permanent damage to the kickstand that then needs to be replaced. It is an expensive part.

While GoCycle claimed is was simply normal wear and resisted replacement the first time, they eventually relented.

Unfortunately, the replacement units were no better than the first and another has failed and the other is about to. Again, with only very limited use. Now GoCycle refuses to replace the kickstand.

It is clearly a design issue (as an engineer, the issue is quite apparent) but GoCycle insists it is normal wear and not really interested in addressing the issue but to now offer a minor part that will fail quickly again. And this does not address the damage that the initial failure caused.

I have attempted to escalate this issue to GoCycle management without success.

So, after initially being a big supporter, I have soured on GoCycle and can no longer recommend people buy this e-bike. These are significant investments for many people and I believe the company is not adequately looking after customers or addressing design issues.

If you are sold on the bike, then make sure to check the issues I have raised to see if new designs have addressed these and if you can live with them.

I hope this will assist your decision and I will offer updates with further experience.

G4 Black Friday Savings

All good. Saved money on a used G4.
Front reflector was not included but I quickly received a replacement and a free rear light as a gift.
Set up was easy and I already patched a tube. Very pleasant experience

The G4i is an absolute joy!

After using lime bikes to get around London for the last year, switching to a Gocycle has been a joy. Every aspect of the bike is well made and well thought out. The acceleration and responsiveness of the bike make commuting in busy traffic so much safer. It’s comes with a hefty price tag - but for a reason. You won’t be disappointed.
