I have been a customer of German Deli for many years - it is my go to stock up on all those German essentials I am unable to buy in the UK supermarkets (for example, Hela Sauces, Thony mustard, large Maggie bottles and and and)

Their delivery service is amazing, I can choose my preferred date to receive my order, and as I always wait until I need a larger order there is no delivery cost either. The packaging is so sturdy and fresh food items are packed in iced bags separately - they are still ice cold when they arrive with me!

On too of that, service is also great. My last order (received today as scheduled, thank you!) as soon as I had paid I realised I had forgotten an item. I emailed their service team asking if there is a way to add this to my order - received a call first thing next morning, paid via phone, and my items were added to the order.

It is not the products this company sells it is the choice of their courier company DHl , that is worth a very bad review.
I have until now been a very regular customer of theirs but ever since they switched from their previous very good courier to DHL their goods have not been arriving on time or were delivered extremely sloppily. When it comes to perishable goods that is not an option.
I have raised this more than once with “The German Deli “ and either I got a snide response or simply a “ received” one .
Not happy at all.

Ordered the large size (150g vs 100g)Thüringer Bratwurst for delivery to Central Scotland. Received a message as the weather had become very hot, German Deli would delay shipping until it was safer to do so. The order was only delayed by 24 hours. Sausages are terrific always but the shipping box and insulation was the best I've ever seen in ordering perishable food on-line.

Sadly I feel I have to write this review. I ordered some items on the 21st, I received an email stating that the items would be delivered on the 28th (a whole week!!) via DHL. I received nothing from DHL to confirm delivery, until the evening before, and then on the day they’re supposed to deliver, I received a notification saying it’ll be the next day, so over a week.. I phoned German Deli only to receive the usual dreaded “due to high customer demand, there is a long wait” I emailed, and have never received an answer. Absolutely pathetic customer service, I will not be using German Deli again, and I’m advising friends not to use them either

Excellent range of products, carefully packaged but my only gripe is that they put labels in English over all of the products. I buy these for a friend who doesn't speak good English and he can't read what is in the tins!! Apart from that they are a good company.

Recieved products eventually but they are in no rush to get your order sent out to you.

Everything came exactly on time, very high quality, and we're so pleased. We were able to host a lovely Oktoberfest gathering with the things. Thanks so much.

I Regularly order from this company. I order large quantities of products for German friends for gifts. 2 of my items were almost out of date, and as it states on the web site to check what the dates are that they are sending out, to check. I did this, and no warning, so knowing that packets of sweets normally have long sell by dates, I placed my order. 2 items out of date very soon, so I mailed them to report, as I do not give 'out of date' items for a gift, regardless of whether they are safe to consume! Their customer service attitude is quite shocking! I was informed that they had not updated the use by date pages, and if I had said I wanted them for a later date, they could have sent some with a later date!! Surely, (very nearly) out of date products should be notified to your customer, or offered at a cheaper price! They also advised if I wanted to return them I could, but at my expense...and then they would refund me!! What An absolutely awful attitude. They obviously do not value loyal customers!! As others have stated, it seems their attitude is just downright rude. Absolutely no more orders from me. They do not deserve the custom. Be warned, as others have advised on here.

It is always a bit like Christmas when we get our deli delivery. Love their products.

Had another really positive experience with food ordered from Germandeli.co.uk - everything was well packaged, especially the chilled food - carefully wrapped in thermal insulation pouches and icepacks.

Sad to see the negative reviews - I've ordered from them for years and never had a bad order. Prices may have increased and portions may have become smaller, but that's not German Deli's fault.

Thank you German Deli for still making continental food accessible in the UK!!

I have used the German Deli for many years now, back to when it was just a shop at the back of Borough market.

They have a variety of German products, some of which can be bought a lot cheaper at Lidl and some which are simply not available in the UK. I'm prepared to pay more for the latter so as far as I'm concerned the pricing is okay if you shop with care.

Having moved out of London I have solely shopped online with them for the last 5 years or so. I don't know what they do with their packaging but I have had a smashed item in every single order I have placed. On the face of it, the products always look well wrapped and yet...something is going wrong here. It's now getting to the point where I would seriously consider whether I want to order from them again. Shame really. Used to be my go to for products from home.

Very poor level of service. The original order was inexplicably sent to the wrong address, which was neither my billing address or my delivery address but appeared some concoction of both.
The email notification from their customer service was abrupt and although it apologised for the error did not explain why it had happened.
They stated they would send it out again 3 days later but when were questioned about this on the new date of dispatch were very curt in their email reply and then failed to reply to a follow up query.
Overall a very unsatisfactory service and I will never use them again. I advise others to be very careful about using this site, especially if you need something by a specific deadline.

Fantastic Deli with great vegan options. It was easy to place an order and my delivery came in just 3 days. The products are high quality and taste great!
They do need to check their stickered ingredients however, as the 'Jumpys' paprkia crisps say they contain milk on the sticker, but they are in fact vegan and don't contain any milk.

Alway firsst class products albeit a tad on the expnsive side their Website needs updating and after one slight mishap with DPD loosing my parcel??last year we are back i.e. got my Zwiebelwurst and Griebenschmalz today with no problems and temps where good, so yes happy bunny.

The deliveries have always been prompt. and very well packed; I am so pleased to be able to get german food over the computer when one lives far from London. mind you there some items one cannot get anymore, like Kartoffelpuffermix! or Sauerbratenfix miss them

My order arrived poorly packaged and with items damaged and some missing which had possibly been removed / stolen in transit. Whilst I did report this to German Deli and the Couriers (DHL) neither of them have responded. Needless to say I would never purchase from German Deli again.

I asked if they could remove sultanas from their German cheesecake, because I have several chronic illnesses - I'm not allowed dried fruit.
No!
It's faster to make with no sultanas, surely, and I'm potentially a customer who'd order 2-4 cheesecakes every 2 weeks.
Morally and financially baffling.
Wouldn't recommend this company, sorry to say.
From previous reviews, I see that there are regular customer service issues.

Guessing they are closing down. Used them for 10-15 years now (maybe longer). They were always our go to online order store for proper German sausages. This time their selection was abysmal, just 6 cooking sausages (used to be a large selection. Worst (not wurst unfortunately) of all when it arrived it wasn't even their usual products. They just bought it in from a competitor (Franconian). All of it marked with Franconian labels. I like Franconian but they produce their own version here in the UK and they are very different. I preferred the products German Deli used to source from Germany. It's a shame but this looks like the last time I'll use German Deli. Things became problematic after Brexit but they managed, then after COVID they continued offering COVID deliveries (which are longer and not very convenient but still pricey) and now their product range is poor/not even their own/usual products.

Firstly the order arrived late so it missed the event I wanted for. A refund was not offered. (Looking now at the website there is a warning, so be aware this is likely to happen). Then when it arrived the sauerkraut were 2.5 weeks out of date (again something the site does warn about so do be aware but it is a little strange) and the sausages were from Edeka's 'Good and cheap' range, which was little disappointing. The customer service manner on the phone was very abrupt. All in all very unsatisfactory experience. I won't be back.Make sure you read all the small print!

I have used their service twice recently. The website is not particularly easy to use and I did not realise that one of the items ordered was past its “best before” date and had been discounted. Don’t know how I did that but was surprised at the response of Customer Service who were abrupt and rather rude stating they were legally at liberty to sell items past their BB date if they wishes and I was at fault for not realising (which I was). Left me with a very poor impression of their customer relation attitude which will give me pause to consider carefully if I wish to use this company in future which is a shame as I find the quality, variety and price good.
