Wish I'd never signed up to the service!
Use Gaskells with work and I wish I'd never set up an agreement with them. Prices have repeatedly gone up, but then they've been reduced back down, when we first signed up with them our collection was missed multiple times. We have to chase for credit notes repeatedly whenever collections have been missed. I tried giving notice on our contract in the window at the beginning of this year, but they turned around and advised that we would still be in contract until 2022 because a new contract was signed. At no point in communication with them did they advise that this was a new agreement, nor was it then going to add two years onto the agreement after we had only been with them for a year at that point. The reason given was that we had additional bins added to the contract (but these had arrived on site 11 months prior to the date on the agreement) and then the next reason given was because it was a new price, even though we'd had our prices reduced multiple times previously after they had been increased (the first attempt at an increase was less than three months after signing up to the initial agreement and after our collection had been missed twice).
Apparently the person that was dealing with this from the Director's office can only discuss with them one day a week and I'm left without updates other than "it still stands". Considering looking into other options.

Dishonest, avoid at all costs!
Dishonest, over priced, unreliable, impossible to deal with.
Sales persons flat out lie to you to get you to sign up -I was offered a year contract by the saleswoman, she put in my diary when to notify we needed to terminate and was told we had another year.
Fast forward a year and still not letting me leave despite knowing for 18 months we wanted to leave and me sending them written notice by email and post.
Randomly try and up your prices mid contract, used the same "Chinese no longer accepting waste" excuse a number of times.
Total, utter, charlatans. Honestly not worth your effort in dealing with these.

WORST COMPANY EVER STAY CLEAR
They send nice sales reps around who promise you that you can cancel at any time. That's a load of rubbish. They increase the prices on the collections when they want and by however much they want. When you phone to complain they claim that your bin is now suddenly weighing more than it did. That's a load of rubbish.
Then when you try and cancel your contract they explain that in the very fine small print on the back of your contract that you are in contract for 2 calendar years. And this is the best bit. You cannot cancel your contract UNTILL AFTER THE 2 YEAR ANNIVERSARY AND EVEN THEN YOU CAN ONLY CANCEL ON THE NEXT ANNIVERSARY WHICH BASICALLY PUTS YOU IN A 3 YEAR CONTRACT!!!! STEER CLEAR OF THIS COMPANY. THE SALES REPS MIS SELL THE SERVICES WHICH SURELY IS ILLEGAL, AND NO MATTER WHAT THEY SAY YOU WILL BE STUCK IN A CONTRACT FOR 3 YEARS. SHAME ON YOU GASKELLS. I will be making sure that I inform as many people as i can about your sales tactics.
UPDATE : Thank you for your reply. I am not sure ho you can help as I have spoken to charlotte regarding this issue and she assures me that I am locked into contract for three years. I am shocked at the nearly 40 % price increase and as far as I can understand the price can rise again at any time and by any amount during the remainder of my contract. Your sales reps shouldn't be advising potential customers that they can cancel at any time if that's not the case. And the fact that it states a 2 year contract in the terms and conditions if you are locked into contract for a minimum of three years is completely wrong. A W ROBERTS & SON. LL65 3SS
UPDATE 2/7 : Details left on 20/6 and still no reply.
UPDATE 6/7 : Received a letter today by a business support manager stating that the anniversary of my contract is 23/10/2020 and that my request to cancel has been denied. The letter also says that someone has tried to contact me on numerous occasions since 13/6 - what a load of rubbish. We are a business with multiple phone lines open 6 days a week. Gaskells you must have the wrong telephone number as no call has been received here. Especially when the last person I spoke to stated that she had phoned in June and got a welsh woman who sated that she did not speak english. I am the only woman in the business and i am fluent in both languages. The excuses just keep getting better. So the moral of the story is if you want to be stuck in a contract for 3 years where the prices for collection can change at any time and by any amount then by all means sign up. IF NOT THEN STEER CLEAR OF THIS COMPANY AT ALL COST. AND DO NOT BELIEVE A WORD THEIR REPS TELL YOU.

i would not recomend this company
this company sends a nice salesman out that says you can leave when ever you want and then when you want to leave tell you that you have missed the small window to cancel the contract. we have just come up to 2 years and want to leave as prices keep going up and this is not stated in the contract if the contract say a certain price I expect to pay that price. as also the salesman said the prices would be the same saying all other providers were not to be trusted as they keep putting prices up. and just because some one has been doing a job for so many years doesn't mean that you are good at it.

Duplicitous
Duplicitous, underhand, impossible to leave, lie directly to your face, ignore complaints, bump prices, charge you for bin rental on your own bin - do not touch them with a barge pole.
Edit: In reply, your colleague is not dealing with it; she and Diane are denying that I requested a 1 year contract and that Diane agreed to it. The rest of the issues are somewhat moot compared to being forced into a 2 year contract when you specifically requested a 1 year one. If Diane wasn't able to provide me a 12 month contract she should have advised me of this instead of miss-selling me your services and hoodwinking me into a 2 year contract.
2nd edit: your terms may be laid out in the small print on the reverse of the contract BUT if I ask for a 12 month contract, your sales woman agrees to a 12 month contract and specifically tells me when to write to you to terminate said contract that’s what I expect. Stop wasting my and your time you bunch of lying pustules.

UNFAIR CONTRACTS...READ BEFORE YOU SIGN
Do not recommend this company at all, Gaskells waste! Customer service is shocking and the contracts are UNFAIR!
Contract locks you in for 2 years HOWEVER if you do not hand your notice in during the very small window they give you then you have to serve another year! Therefore if your circumstances change you will be paying for a bin you will not be using for a long time... Or if like us you are not happy with their shocking service then you will wait a very long time to be out of the contract. I had missed this window by one month and have had to wait 8 months to be able to give my notice after now serving 2.5 years.

Gaskells is the worst Waste Services company there is.
Their customer service sucks also.
You cannot depend on them to deal with your issues correctly,
You call them about a missed pick up,
which is not your fault, the customer service is unsympathetic to your circumstances.
I will not recommend anyone to get their service as you need to read all the small print
in the contract they want you to sign as it will catch you out,
you will end up paying a lot more then you think!
Stay away from Gaskells.
