AVOID SCAMMERS CHEATS DECEIT
AVOID SCAMMERS CHEATS DECEIT
Background
I went to the shabby shop on 6 December 2020. Wanted to get my Note 4 fixed, I bought 6 years ago in December 2014 in UK from a reputable company.
Issue
The phone actually died in my hand while using, I think there was some issue with the software.
Bad day
Wanted to spend a max of £50 just to get it working, went to Leeds city centre thinking the shop in the city centre would be professional and competent. Saw this old freak man probably the owner and a well-trained liar and deceit. He asked for £25 upfront without giving any receipt (means he DOES NOT PAY proper TAX =dishonest with the gov).
DO NOT pay anyone Upfront, this is clear sign of a swindler anyway I paid £20 upfront.
He asked for my budget and I said £50/60 he said if I would increase it to £75, it will fix any issue the phone may have. I agreed for max of £75 budget.
I went back to his shop after few hours and inquired about my phone. The old man was not there and one of the technicians confirmed he had looked at my phone, and it had some software issue, which he will fix in few hours.
I called the shop after few hours and asked about the progress, was told by the old man the screen is broken, I was amazed, I explained there was no screen issue with my phone (mind you phone main issue was, it was not booting, after few attempts it does but go off again in few minutes showing no screen damage), he confirmed what he was saying was correct, so the budget went upto £80.
On Monday 7 Dec 20 I received another text and call from the swindler that the price of the same fix had gone up to £95. Suspicious of his dealings I refused to get the phone fixed and asked him to return my phone without further work.
SHOCKING DAY
I went to collect my phone on 12 Dec 20 and was shocked to know that the phone was in bits and shall come back in 1 hr. Why the phone was in bits for whole week you will know, he needed time to scam me again. I sent him an assertive text and guess what a phone in bits was ready for collection in less than 10 mints. By the time I received his text I had left the city centre and came back after few hours.
The DRAMA
The man retuned my phone, which was not mine, as soon as I touched the phone I told him this was not my phone, he insisted this is my phone he had written IMEI No and it matches with my phone’s IMEI No. (my mistake I did not note my IMEI No, but does not matter for this conman).
I had used the phone for 6 years, as soon as you touch it you know it’s not yours. I took it to my wife outside the shop and she confirmed the same this is not our phone.
The old man manged to match my IMEI No but was so inept he could not match my battery with the phone. The phone he returned has 3.85V/1500mah written on it while genuine phone have 4.4v/3220mah battery, the battery is my genuine battery and the specs written on the phone does not match with battery. The replica phone he returned me did not match the battery specs of an original phone (see pics).
The differences in the phone he returned and my phone.
1. Battery specs does not match with a genuine phone battery specs the phone he returned has 3.85V/1500mah written on it.
2. The phone he returned me is 50% heavier than my genuine NOTE4.
3. My phone had Made in China written on it while the phone he returned has Samsung UK on it.
4. My phone back cover was slightly broken the phone he returned was with perfect back cover.
5. My phone was in perfect facial condition, the phone he returned is scruffy.
6. The screen is curvy while my phone screen is pretty flat, like a genuine NOTE4.
Lesson
AVOID this swindler, he will rip off money and your gadget. Take many pics of your gadget before giving it for repair to anyone. Do not give advance money for repair.
My phone was not more than £100, but the conman did not spare me.
I am sure the swindler will respond to my post, dirty man if you have courage post the pics you had taken when returning my phone and tell the world the phone you returned me does not match with genuine phone specs (battery and others).
