Fahrzeuge teilweise veraltet
Anschrift der Autovermietung hat nicht gepasst, Taxifahrer musste erst anrufen, bevor er wusste wohin er fahren muss.
Personal war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit.
Das vermietete Fahrzeug war sauber, aber schon etwas alt und an zahlreichen Stellen beschädigt.

Der Shuttlebus für die Abholung vom Flughafen könnte besser gekennzeichnet sein, es ist nur eine kleine Aufschrift vorne vom Logo zu sehen, und man kann ihn schnell übersehen.

Oplichters ten top.
Een jaar na dato ineens een boete voor parkeren. Wat blijkt. De boete is uitgeschreven tijdens of vlak na de sleuteloverdracht voor ontvangst van de auto. De parkeerplaats waar de medewerker van Funchal Drive de auto heeft neergezet, was betaald parkeren. Ze houden bij hoog en bij laag vol dat de medewerker betaald heeft voor het parkeren, maar in elk geval net niet genoeg om in de tijd van een overdracht en inspectie van de auto te voorzien en ons de tijd te geven de auto te verplaatsen. Ze schuiven de schuld op ons af en houden zich vast aan de afgesproken tijd van overdracht en niet de daadwerkelijke tijd van overdracht. Het gaat me niet om die 120 euro, maar om het principe dat ze je naaien waar je bij staat. Zeer klantonvriendelijk en geen fijne verassing.

Hartelijk dank voor uw beoordeling. Het spijt ons oprecht dat deze situatie een negatieve indruk bij u heeft achtergelaten.
Wij begrijpen dat het ontvangen van een parkeerboete ongeveer een jaar na de huurperiode onverwacht en frustrerend kan zijn. Wij willen echter graag verduidelijken dat dergelijke boetes uitsluitend door de bevoegde autoriteiten worden uitgevaardigd, volgens hun eigen procedures en termijnen. Het moment waarop een kennisgeving wordt verzonden, ligt dan ook volledig buiten de controle van het bedrij.
Wanneer wij een kennisgeving van de autoriteiten ontvangen, zijn wij verplicht met hen samen te werken door de bestuurder te identificeren die de auto tijdens de betreffende huurperiode heeft gebruikt, zoals ook is vastgelegd in de huurvoorwaarden die bij aanvang van de huur zijn aanvaard. Eventuele overtredingen die tijdens de huurperiode plaatsvinden, vallen onder de verantwoordelijkheid van de bestuurder van het voertuig.
Wij vinden het jammer dat er een verschil van inzicht bestaat over de parkeertijd op het moment van de overdracht van de auto. Van onze kant blijven wij bij het standpunt dat de gebruikelijke procedures zijn gevolgd.
Wij waarderen uw feedback en nemen deze altijd serieus om onze dienstverlening voortdurend te blijven verbeteren. Wij wensen u het allerbeste.

Mi hanno proposto una assicurazione…
Mi hanno proposto una assicurazione aggiuntiva dicendo che la mia carta di credito non ammetteva la cauzione, il tutto a poche ore dalla partenza.
Messaggi pressanti per accettare, a nulla è servito specificare che la mia Mastercard aveva tutti i requisiti richiesti.
Dopo aver chiesto al broker di inviare loro una email tutto si è quietato, appena arrivato nel loro ufficio, magicamente, la mia carta di credito aveva tutte le caratteristiche da loro richieste ed è stato fatto l'addebito per cauzione.
Ho chiesto di annullare la prenotazione ma mi è stato preventivato un rimborso parziale di quanto già pagato senza motivazioni valide.
In sostanza, ti vogliono far spendere altri 280€ senza motivo.

Terrible experience - scammed to pay an extra
Terrible experience. I strongly advise everyone to avoid this rental company.
Upon arrival, we were forced to pay an additional €296 for extra insurance. They claimed that our VISA/NEXI credit card – an official and widely accepted card throughout Europe, which they had already accepted to process the payment – was not valid for the security deposit. According to them, the only alternative was to purchase their expensive insurance package. This felt like a deliberate way to extract more money from customers.
In addition, they gave us a car that clearly had not been properly maintained. Several warning lights were already on when we received the vehicle, and they remained on throughout the entire rental period.
The staff were extremely slow. We genuinely felt scammed and taken advantage of.
I strongly do NOT recommend this company. Poor service, misleading practices and lack of transparency.

Regarding the security deposit, our policy requires a valid credit card in the name of the main driver with sufficient available funds to block the deposit amount. We would like to clarify that a Visa card may be accepted or declined depending not only on the card network, but mainly on its bank classification (credit, debit, or prepaid) and its ability to allow a security deposit block (pre-authorisation).
Being a Visa card does not automatically guarantee acceptance for the security deposit. Some cards issued by financial institutions such as Nexi may be classified by the issuing bank as debit or may have restrictions on pre-authorisation, which can prevent the required deposit from being blocked. When this requirement cannot be met, we offer optional protection packages that eliminate the excess and deposit requirement.
These conditions are clearly outlined during the booking process and in our terms and conditions.
Regarding the vehicle, we take maintenance and safety very seriously. All vehicles are regularly inspected and serviced. If any warning lights were present, we encourage customers to immediately report this to our team so it can be addressed without delay.
We regret that you were dissatisfied with the service provided by our staff and appreciate your feedback, which is taken seriously as part of our continuous improvement process.

Expérience catastrophique. Pour commencer l’agence a plus de 45 minutes pour nous récupérer à l’aéroport. Une fois arrivé chez eux, je précise que nous avons réservé sur booking un véhicule avec assurance en arrivant sur place on m’a demandé 367€ d’assurance « obligatoire » sinon on ne nous donne pas le véhicule. Une vente forcée en plus d’une double assurance. Par la suite on me demande un supplément de 35 euros pour déposer me véhicule de location et ils insistent pour ajouter un nettoyage à 14€. Ils ont clairement profité de la situation. Cette agence doit être impérativement signalée et cesser ses pratiques frauduleuses.

Avoid this company at all costs.
This was one of the worst car rental experiences I have ever had. The entire process feels designed to trap customers with hidden fees and unexpected charges that are not made clear when booking.
Read every word of the terms and conditions because important charges are buried in the fine print. If you arrive after 8:00 PM, you will be charged an additional fee €35, yet the amount is not clearly disclosed during the booking process. You only discover these extra costs after you have already paid and committed to the reservation.
The problems do not stop there. Insurance purchased through third-party booking platforms may suddenly be deemed unacceptable, leaving you under pressure to buy the company's own insurance at an excessive price. If you do not have a credit card, you may be refused the vehicle altogether unless you purchase their expensive coverage.
The vehicle you reserve online is not necessarily the vehicle you receive. You are simply given whatever happens to be available. In my case, the car was not presented in an acceptable condition, yet customers are expected to pay extra fees €12 to avoid potential cleaning charges later. If you decline their cleaning option, any minor issue can become an excuse to deduct money from your deposit.
As a tourist, I felt completely misled. What appears to be a cheap rental quickly becomes far more expensive once all the additional charges, conditions, and restrictions are revealed. The entire experience felt like a carefully designed system to maximize extra fees rather than provide good customer service.
To make matters worse, the customer service was shocking. Staff were rude, dismissive, unhelpful, and unprofessional. Rather than resolving concerns, they seemed more interested in defending questionable policies and pressuring customers into paying more.
I strongly advise anyone considering this company to look elsewhere. There are many reputable rental companies that treat customers fairly and are transparent about their costs. Save yourself the stress, frustration, and unexpected expenses!!
Paid doubled for a chippers car when for €600 could rent a new brand car, something better straight away from Airoport , all famous rental cars straight in the Airoport -rental cars like Sixt,Europcar,Avis,Hertz any many other , don’t do the same mistake as me !

Serviço ok mas não volto a escolher!
Quando chegamos para levantar o carro, tentaram-nos enrolar na conversa de que o carro que escolhemos não era o mais indicado para andar na ilha e que por mais 95€ poderíamos ter um carro melhor. Felizmente não era a nossa primeira vez na ilha ( só a primeira vez com esta companhia) e tínhamos tido um igual na vez passada e sabíamos que era suficiente. Mas achei de muito mau grado tentarem impingir e assustar as pessoas dizendo que um carro não serve. Na verdade deram-nos um carro com uma cavalagem inferior à que eu tinha reservado, porque as categorias são por tamanho e número de portas. Mas felizmente o carro foi mais do que suficiente.
Depois tentaram impingir uma taxa de limpeza que não está incluída no preço, queriam 12,50€ para limpar o carro. Por 3€ lavamos, limpamos e aspiramos o carro numa bomba de gasolina. A parte mais engraçada é que o carro quando nos foi entregue nem sequer estava totalmente limpo, tinha imensas migalhas e sujidade nas partes entre os bancos.
A nossa experiência correu bem no geral, mas só queria alertar que às vezes tentamos ir ao mais barato, mas depois com taxas que nos tentam impingir no dia vai dar ao mesmo, e o atendimento é mais fraco. Provavelmente se fosse a minha primeira vez na ilha tinha ido nas cantigas todas. Eu percebo que seja um negócio, mas há limites e fica muito feio uma pessoa chegar e lhe ser apresentado este tipo de discurso.
Não voltarei a alugar com esta companhia, na minha opinião mais vale pagar mais uns € e ter um serviço honesto.

Everything's fine. The only complaint I have is the long wait to sign the contract and hand over the car (compared to other rental companies). We waited over an hour, even though the line was really short. Fix that and it'll be great.

Advertised at €60, ended up costing plus €300 before fuel and transport!!
I rarely leave negative reviews, but this was one of the worst car rental experiences I have had.
I booked a vehicle through EnjoyTravel at a very attractive rate (around €60 for five days). However, when I arrived at Funchal Drive in Ponta Delgada, I was informed that unless I provided a credit card in the exact name of the reservation holder with a €1,500 deposit limit available, I would be forced to purchase additional insurance costing over €220.
What was presented during booking as an (+€20) optional insurance became effectively mandatory at the counter at a much higher rate, that didn't even included tires(?!!) in a town like Ponta Delgada. This completely changed the final price and felt extremely misleading.
To make matters worse, additional charges such as cleaning fees appeared, and a rental that was advertised at around €60 ended up costing plus €300 before fuel, taxis (€100), and other travel expenses.
The vehicle provided was also far below expectations. I booked a new model Volkswagen T-Roc or similar, suitable for exploring São Miguel’s mountainous roads and unpredictable weather conditions. Instead, I received a much older, unreliable, and significantly smaller vehicle (Seat Arona) that did not provide the level of comfort, confidence, or safety I expected for this type of trip with my family.
Finally, the customer service was extremely disappointing. The staff member was dismissive, unhelpful, and made me feel as though he was doing me a favour rather than providing a service I was paying for. Going as far as being explicitly rude on the delivery, after I've asked for the Complaints Book.
Funchal Drive could improve dramatically by being transparent about all mandatory costs before customers arrive, clearly explaining deposit requirements, and treating customers with basic professionalism and respect.
I'll have to come back to the island several times for personal and professional purposes but would definitely not rent from this company ever again!

Abzocke, schlechte Auto, Augen auf beim Mieten!
Leider können wir diesen Anbieter überhaupt nicht empfehlen.
Bereits am Flughafen fing der schlechte Service an. Obwohl laut Buchungsunterlagen regelmäßig ein Shuttle kommen sollte, mussten wir deutlich länger warten als angegeben. Erst nachdem wir selbst angerufen hatten, wurden wir abgeholt. Vor Ort mussten wir erneut lange warten, da die Mitarbeiter unseren Vorgang mehrfach unterbrachen, ohne etwas zu sagen oder uns zu informieren.
Das erste Fahrzeug, das wir erhalten haben, zeigte direkt beim Starten eine Fehlermeldung bezüglich der Beleuchtung an. Wir mussten die Mitarbeiter selbst auf den Defekt aufmerksam machen. Das Problem konnte nicht behoben werden, sodass wir erst nach mehrmaligem Nachfragen ein anderes Fahrzeug erhielten. Uns wurde lediglich der Schlüssel in die Hand gedrückt. Eine ordentliche Fahrzeugübergabe oder Erklärung fand nicht statt. Den Mietvertrag für das Ersatzfahrzeug haben wir bis heute nicht erhalten.
Leider war auch das Ersatzfahrzeug nicht in einem ordnungsgemäßen Zustand. Das Radio funktionierte nur sporadisch, die Reifen waren bereits stark abgefahren und das Fahrzeug roch von Anfang an extrem nach Reinigungsmitteln. Als wir später erneut ein Problem meldeten, wusste der Kundenservice zunächst nicht einmal, dass unser Fahrzeug überhaupt getauscht worden war. Das zeigt, wie schlecht die internen Abläufe organisiert sind.

Aus unserer Sicht hätten beide Fahrzeuge in diesem Zustand nicht an Kunden vermietet werden dürfen.
Zusammen mit den langen Wartezeiten, der schlechten Organisation und dem unzureichenden Kundenservice war dies eine durchweg enttäuschende Erfahrung. Wir würden diesen Anbieter definitiv nicht erneut buchen und können ihn leider nicht weiterempfehlen.

Leider können wir diesen Anbieter überhaupt nicht empfehlen.
Bereits am Flughafen fing der schlechte Service an. Obwohl laut Buchungsunterlagen regelmäßig ein Shuttle kommen sollte, mussten wir deutlich länger warten als angegeben. Erst nachdem wir selbst angerufen hatten, wurden wir abgeholt. Vor Ort mussten wir erneut lange warten, da die Mitarbeiter unseren Vorgang mehrfach unterbrachen, ohne etwas zu sagen oder uns zu informieren.
Das erste Fahrzeug, das wir erhalten haben, zeigte direkt beim Starten eine Fehlermeldung bezüglich der Beleuchtung an. Wir mussten die Mitarbeiter selbst auf den Defekt aufmerksam machen. Das Problem konnte nicht behoben werden, sodass wir erst nach mehrmaligem Nachfragen ein anderes Fahrzeug erhielten. Uns wurde lediglich der Schlüssel in die Hand gedrückt. Eine ordentliche Fahrzeugübergabe oder Erklärung fand nicht statt. Den Mietvertrag für das Ersatzfahrzeug haben wir bis heute nicht erhalten.
Leider war auch das Ersatzfahrzeug nicht in einem ordnungsgemäßen Zustand. Das Radio funktionierte nur sporadisch, die Reifen waren bereits stark abgefahren und das Fahrzeug roch von Anfang an extrem nach Reinigungsmitteln. Als wir später erneut ein Problem meldeten, wusste der Kundenservice zunächst nicht einmal, dass unser Fahrzeug überhaupt getauscht worden war. Das zeigt, wie schlecht die internen Abläufe organisiert sind.
