Has been asked euro 461 more for extra insurance due to me credit card does not has more than 6 months validity. Item not mentioned on general condition of the contract as well confirmed by employed. This is really not correct. We are very disappointed . I am in touch with my lawyer to deep verify.

We booked a automatic car via Sunnycars, but there was not one available. Later our Travel agent treid to change the car for a automatic, but there was no answer to the mail en the phone was not answered.

Pagamos un seguro abusivo a todo riesgo…
Pagamos un seguro abusivo a todo riesgo que duplicó el precio del alquiler del vehículo y ese seguro a todo riesgo no incluía la parte lateral exterior de los neumáticos. El coche tenia multitud de daños, arañazos, golpes , etc , que no estaban totalmente reflejados en el parte de daños que nos mostró la compañia al firmar el contrato de arrendamiento. También había una cláusula por entregar el coche limpio, si no tenías que pagar 24 euros, sino lo habías pagado el primer dia cuando lo coges. El personal muy poco comunicativo, cuando se entregó el coche. Hubo que preguntarles varias veces si estaba todo bien, antes de que nos acercarán al aeropuerto.

Personnel pas aimable à l'aller comme au retour ,on nous a compté une assurance plus cher que la location en nous disant que notre carte ne passait pas .De plus on nous a pris une taxe de tourisme sur 10 jours alors que elle ne devait être appliqué que sur 8 jours puisqu'elle est calculé à la journée complète(Véhicule pris à 19 h le soir et rendu à 8h le matin!!!).

Concernant la taxe touristique, nous vous informons qu’il ne s’agit pas d’une option de l’entreprise, mais d’une obligation légale imposée par le Gouvernement régional, applicable à toutes les sociétés de location de voitures. Cette taxe s’élève à 2€ par jour et est facturée en fonction du contrat.
Après vérification de votre contrat, nous confirmons que la période de location enregistrée est de 10 jours, et que l’application de cette taxe est donc conforme aux conditions établies.
Nous regrettons également que l’expérience avec notre équipe n’ait pas été satisfaisante, car ce n’est pas le niveau de service que nous souhaitons offrir à nos clients.

Bad service and rude staff
We booked two cars together for the same family holiday in Madeira and were very disappointed with the experience.
Because my daughter did not have a credit card in her own name, we wanted to use mine for the security deposit. Despite both cars being booked together, this was refused, leaving her with no option but to pay an extra €280 for full insurance.
Both vehicles were in poor condition. One had faulty electric windows and was generally old and worn out, while the other had lighting issues from the collection and a worn clutch, which made driving on Madeira's steep roads difficult.
Customer service simply referred us to their terms and conditions and ignored the issues we raised about the vehicles. Additionally, the staff were rude, implying that we were unable to drive properly.
Policies are one thing, but customer service and vehicle quality matter too. Based on our experience, I would not rent from Funchal Drive again.

Ci hanno consegnato un' auto vecchissima da 60.000 km, senza Android. Alcuni sono gentili ma c'è una persona molto aggressiva e pericolosa tra loro che li per lì ci ha sconvolto. Non prenotate qui se avete l'aereo prima delle 10.30-11.00 perché non vi garantiscono di essere in ufficio alle 8.00 ed arrivare in tempo ai controlli, anche se prima vi dicono di si ma al rientro vi diranno una cosa diversa. Casomai, vi propongono di parcheggiare l'auto in aeroporto con il sovrapprezzo di 35€.

Très déçu de ce prestataire qui n a pas…
Très déçu de ce prestataire qui n a pas essayé de trouver une solution pour l assurance, carte de crédit et permis de conduire ok de monsieur mais réservation au nom de madame donc il a fallu payer 300 euros d assurance, impression d etre pris pour des idiots.
Pour le retour du vehicule, personnel pas aimable voir désagréable, navette pour l aeroport pleine donc 20 minutes d attente et au lieu d etre rassurant, il a ete méprisant. Je ne recommande pas du tout cette entreprise.

Die Fahrzeug Übernahme gestaltete sich etwas holprig. Wir hatten einen kompletten Versicherungsvertrag gebucht der auch die Selbstbeteiligung übernimmt. Vor Ort wollte man uns aber noch eine Vermietereigene Versicherung andrehen. Begründung war das die schon gebuchte Versicherung nicht von detr Vermietung sei. Das hat gleich zum Start einen Faden Beigeschmack hinterlassen. Rückgabe problemlos in 1 Minute erledigt. Man hat uns sogar in einen Ort in der Umgebung gefahren da wir kein Shuttle zum Flughafen brauchen. Das Auto war sauber und technisch ok.

Impossible de louer le véhicule sans…
Impossible de louer le véhicule sans prendre l'assurance du loueur directement sur le lieu de vente. Gros piège une location qui coutait sur le papier 120 euros la semaine est revenue à plus de 450 euros avec leur assurance. L'assurance proposée par booking n'était pas acceptée et ne permettait pas de récupérer le véhicule.

The customer service and information…
The customer service and information via WhatsApp prior to and during our trip was good. The cars were ok one of them the brakes were faulty /worn which is not what you would want in Madeira with all the hills. A service should be done before giving out the cars. One of the two cars we got was ok

Operating on the verge of legality, certainly past the point of morality
This company is located about a 10 minutes drive away from the airport, despite their name. They use a shuttle to transport people between the airport and their site.
They use this location to bully you into paying exorbitant repair fees for non-existant damage because, on an island with few cabs, if you don't take their shuttle, you'll likely miss your flight. They even had the audacity to suggest I drop my car off later than I wanted to. I witnessed this particular scam happen, but was 'lucky' enough to have purchased their insurance first which I'll get to next.
I booked this service last minute and through Avion points so I didn't think to check reviews. While I was on my way I decided to check reviews and saw many people reporting the same things I witnessed. Because of this I decided to go with their 'insurance policy'.
First of all, their 'insurance' cost about 80% of what I had already paid. On my ~$600 rental, they asked for insurance of $500. Knowing that they would try to get even more money from me if I didn't pay upfront I decided to eat the cost. Then, AFTER I paid, he told me that insurance didn't cover any scuffs on the wheels, or any mud on the inside of the car. These are both insane caveats for the following reasons.
1) Ponta Delgada (and most cities on São Miguel) has notoriously skinny streets with 90 degree angled curbs made of volcanic rock. Every single car you see there has scuffs on their tires as well as small dings and scratches on their doors and windows. You NEED to jump up on curbs at times - there are even signs telling you to park half on the curb!!!!
2) The main reason people go to this island is to hike to see beautiful views. The island is famous for experiencing all four seasons in a day. Mud is an inevitability.
Secondly, I did a walkaround of the damages to the car with the employee and then I was sent a contract with the damages listed - except there were several not listed and the gas was not as full as the contract said. More signs that they're trying to scam people.
I left the rental place with my spirits quite dampened - I was expecting to pay some insurance but not that much, and the fact that it seemed like I would be screwed when I dropped the car off anyway made it even worse. And then I had the pleasure of using a car with a transmission that was on its last legs (lurches abound, often not switching gears and revving up to 5 and 6k RPM), squeeky brakes, and faulty lane assist and cruise control.
I managed to clean the car up as best I could and returned the car with little hassle (I arrived two hours earlier than I had intended, to be sure that I had time to catch a cab if needed). The person who was working when I dropped the car was generally nicer than the person I had when I dropped it off and it went off without a hitch.
All in all this was a horrible way to start my vacation - the rental weighed heavy on my for my entire stay. Luckily every other person I interacted with on the island was lovely and the scenery was beautiful.

In relation to fuel, as stated in the rental terms, the vehicle must be returned with the same fuel level as provided at pick-up.
