when we arrived at the airport the bus came to bring us to the office .de car was ready . it was a very new car a white panda whit hybrid en very friendly people. she help us very good .all week long we have ride the entire island to see beautifull places all over. the car drove very smoothly.
thanks for the good service . . we will come back again.

I am giving Funchal Drive a poor rating because I was required to purchase an additional insurance policy for €262.50 despite presenting a valid Mastercard credit card.

The official explanation given to me was that the Mastercard I presented was not issued by a traditional physical bank. However, this is not a reasonable justification in my case. My Mastercard was issued in Germany through MLP and is fully subject to the German banking and deposit protection system. There is therefore no relevant difference in terms of security or reliability between my Mastercard and a credit card issued directly by a traditional bank.

I have been using this Mastercard for several decades and have always had very positive experiences with it. I have successfully used it in all kinds of situations and countries without any problems. This is the first time in my entire life that I have encountered such a situation.

I was therefore effectively forced on site to purchase an additional insurance policy, even though there was no reasonable basis for doing so. I consider this to be highly questionable and unacceptable business practice.

Furthermore, I had already purchased all the necessary insurance coverage through CHECK24, including coverage for potential damage to the rental vehicle. I was fully covered for any damage and had no excess to pay. There was therefore no apparent reason whatsoever to require me to pay an additional €262.50.

I expect Funchal Drive to review this matter critically and thoroughly and to reimburse me the full amount of €262.50 that I was charged additionally.

In my view, there was absolutely no reasonable basis for questioning the security or reliability of the Mastercard I presented. I therefore ask Funchal Drive to reconsider this matter, correct this unacceptable business practice and refund the full amount of €262.50.

Service was great and costs were transparent and fair.

My experience with this company was very disappointing. When I picked up the car, I was told that because I did not have a credit card in my own name, I was required to purchase an additional insurance package, which cost an extra €177.

The shuttlebus took to long to pick us up. When I arrived at the airport and contacten you it took more than a half hour to pick up

Got picked up by the airport and brought to the garage, the car was fine just the airconditioning wasn't working. 2 Days later we changed the car for another one and all was fine. The last star could be earned when the gastank would have been full and had to be brought back full. Now it was 1/2 a tank, which is impossible to do right.

Although I didn’t rent an expensive car—in fact, I chose one of the more affordable options—the overall experience was excellent.

The guys were very quick, professional, and helpful. There were absolutely no problems, either when picking up the car or when returning it. Everything went smoothly and efficiently.

A big thank you to the whole team for the great service! We will definitely use your company again next time and will do so with confidence.

Very friendly people and good car!

Everything with the booking went easy, car delivery return fast and without any problems. Car quality nice and as promissed.

We have hired many cars in Madeira and this car was the best by far. Very good and quick service, all explained very clearly to us, with copies of the agreement via email. We booked an economy car and the car they offered was a relatively new Renault clip which handled the steep hills very well. Returning the car was also simple. 100% recommend. The only new thing for me was the fee to clean the car, which I’ve never had before.

Just unacceptable to trap people. We had a credit card that perfectly worked in 5 other Azores Islande and,strangely,it wasn't accepted in this agency forcing us to subscribe to a premium contract,doubling the amount we had to pay. The car was ok but the rear right window didn't open, which wasn't comfortable at all for the person sitting there !

Na reserva foi indicado que seria um Renault Clio ou similiar... o carro atribuído foi um Peugeot 2008 suficientemente potente para enfrentar as estradas da Madeira. A opção SERVICE GOLD COMPLETE foi um descanso completo ao melhor preço que encontrei... Na devolução do veiculo no Aeroporto fazem a cortesia de levar ao terminal de partidas. Altamente recomendável!

⚠️ ATTENTION – expérience que je considère comme particulièrement abusive.
J’avais réservé une voiture à Madère avec une franchise de 2 000 €. À mon arrivée, le loueur a refusé ma carte bancaire en affirmant qu’elle était une carte de débit et ne permettait pas de prendre la caution.
Problème : ma banque m’a ensuite fourni une attestation officielle confirmant que ma carte possède bien la fonction CRÉDIT.
Sur place, on m’a laissé le choix entre prendre leur assurance supplémentaire au prix exorbitant ou repartir sans la voiture réservée. Après un voyage et sans alternative réaliste, j’ai dû payer.
Une fois la voiture rendue impeccable, j’ai demandé le remboursement. Refus catégorique, malgré l’attestation de ma banque. On me propose à la place… 30 € de bon d’achat.
Pour moi, c’est exactement le genre de pratique commerciale qui doit inciter les clients à la plus grande prudence : prix attractif à la réservation, puis pression au comptoir pour souscrire une assurance très coûteuse.
Je déconseille fortement ce loueur. Lisez attentivement les conditions et méfiez-vous des frais supplémentaires imposés au moment de récupérer le véhicule.
