Funchal Drive Omdömen 

Nous avons loué une voitute pour 15 jours. Dès le 2eme jour, le véhicule a rencontré plusieurs problèmes : des voyants et messages inquietants affichés sur ld tableau de bord : freins à controler, temperature de l'embrayage trop chaude provoquant des dangereux ralentissements automatiques sur la voix express. Nous avons échangé par whatsapp le soir même. Le lendemain, nous avons décidé de nous rendre dans le bureau funchaldrive le plus proche. Après un test avec l'agent pour s'assurer que ma conduite était correcte et n'était pas à l'origine du problème d'embrayage, le vehicule nous a été changé sans aucune difficulté. Donc, une bonne experience client.

Desde el primer momento un trato especial, pendientes de la llegada del avión para organizar los traslados, que estos son inmediatos sin esperas. El coche súper limpio y muy nuevo. La recogida muy rápida. El personal súper atento y muy amable y servicial. Experiencia espectacular!

Da wir erst gegen Mitternacht in Ponta Delgada gelandet sind, wurde unser Mietauto auf dem Flughafen bereitgestellt. Mit zwei Videos hat Funchal Drive den Standort und den Parkscheinautomat gezeigt. Mit mehreren Fotos wurden die Schäden am Auto dokumentiert. Das fand ich Grossartig!

Kurz vor Urlaubs Beginn meldet sich Funchal Drive (wird von carjet an örtliche Rental weitergeleitet) mit E-Mails zum bestätigen, einmal bestätigt gibt es kein zurück mehr. Erpressen mit stornieren des Autos und das Geld wird nicht rückerstattet! Unsere Ankunft war um 3 Uhr morgens - also zahlten wir die extra Versicherung von 295€. 70€ Zuschlag außerhalb der Arbeitszeit obwohl sie Werbung für 24h Abholung machen!
11€ Aufpreis für den Tank obwohl wir das Auto mit einem 70% Tank bekommen und auch so wieder abgeliefert haben- trotzdem Aufschlag!
Zum Auto:
Bei dem Auto machten die Bremsen abgenutztes Geräusche - nicht vertrauenswürdig mit den steilen Straßen Madeiras.
Die Fenster gingen nicht zu 1cm Spalt - laute Fahrgeräusche das man sich nicht unterhalten konnte. Das Auto war voller Dellen und Kratzer- vermutlich wird von der Versicherung kassiert aber nie hergerichtet.
Funchal Drive darauf kontaktiert meinen sie, wir sollen in die nächste Funchal Drive Station fahren - über 1std entfernt von uns (andere Unternehmen auf Madeira kommen und tauschen das Auto aus-von anderen Gästen erfahren). Im Urlaub hab ich echt etwas besseres zu tun als einer betrügerischen Firma hinterherlaufen zu müssen!!!
Funchal Drive hat unseren Urlaub echt versaut - Frechheit!
Diese Firma ist nicht seriös sondern stark erpresserisch- wir werden weiter Schritte einleiten.

Renting car was easy and staff was really nice, although after almost a week after returning the car I still haven’t received my deposit back , and no one seems to want to help with that.

Facilidad a la hora de reservar, sin tarjeta de credito y sin deposito (lo que yo quería), precio muy competitivo, es mas, en comparacion con otros rent-a-car se queda por debajo del precio promedio. Los chicos muy amables, el servicio muy rapido, el unico pero, que tienen oficina fuera del aeropuerto, pero para nosotros no fue un impedimento. Si vuelvo a Sao Miguel seguro que repetiré, y lo recomendaré.

I picked up the car at the airport office at Rua do Cano 42A - Santa Cruz. The staff there were incredibly friendly, and I barely had to wait. The car itself was also flawless; everything went perfectly. However, when I went to return the car and the key to the Funchal office at Rua Quinta do Leme 102, I had agreed in the contract to return it by 7:00 PM, knowing that the office closed at 8:00 PM. Well, when I arrived, there was no one there. After waiting 25 minutes for someone to arrive, I emailed them to explain the situation. After a while, they told me I had to leave the car unlocked with the key inside, something no one had mentioned beforehand. I ended up doing that, but I had wasted almost an hour waiting for someone to come or for them to reply. It would have been much appreciated if they had told me this from the beginning to avoid wasting time waiting.

Everything went smoothly, since our arrival to the departure, all members of the staff were helpful.

We booked a car through CHECK24 with Funchal Drive (AutoUnion). The booked vehicle category was unavailable, and we received a much smaller car.

Despite presenting a valid physical Comdirect credit card in the main driver’s name—previously used for many deposits—it was rejected because the bank has no physical branches. We were then told the only alternative was to buy additional insurance for €162 for four days, although we were already insured through CHECK24. The original rental price was only around €202.

Customers before and after us had similar credit-card or deposit issues. This strongly suggests that customers are pressured into purchasing expensive additional insurance.

Strong recommendation: Choose another rental company.

The staff was friendly and competent, our car was a bit run down and battered, but it worked. And it's important to know that the car rental office is not at the airport directly, but 7 minutes with a shuttle service away from the airport, which however worked well.

Pagamos 35€ por un servicio que no se nos prestó, el cual era que estuviesen a las 4:00 de la mañana del Domingo 2 de Agosto para dar el coche y llevarnos al aeropuerto ya que teníamos un vuelo a nuestro país el cual si no llega a ser porque nos fuimos y dejamos de esperar lo perdemos, la chica que había en la oficina cuando cogimos el coche nos dijo que no iba haber problemas, además es que le pregunté explícitamente "¿Pero va haber alguien aquí a esa hora?" Ella me dijo con total seguridad que si (mintiendonos en la cara), que habría un compañero suyo, pista: no había ni el tato, si no llega a ser porque nos dimos cuenta de que son unos estafadores perdemos el vuelo, fuimos actuando sobre la marcha y el coche lo dejamos en un parquing del aeropuerto con las llaves metidas dentro, más de ahí no sabemos nada, entiendo que fueron ellos a recoger el coche porque ya sabían que iba a pasar eso, pero prefieren estafar y sacar el dinero a la gente, sois unos sin vergüenzas y unos corruptos, espero que la vida os lo devuelva.

The car was full of scratches on bumpers rear and front. I did not add any during my rental but I was charged 390€ for two scratches which were supposedly noticed when I returned it. I did not make pictures when I took the car but neither did the rental company. There is just a drawing with plenty of scratches. When there are so many it is just impossible to prove you are right. I know what I did and where I parked the car. These charges are false and totally abusive.

Serviço de boa qualidade e viatura impecável.

The car was almost new so it was ok BUT: 1) offices are 10-min ride from the airport, 2) you have to wait for a van with room for 10 people and is it's full, you must wait for 20 min for the next one plus 10 min drive, 3) the offices are small, old and at least 45 min the process to pickup the car, 4) another 45-50 min to turn the car back. Extremely long, uncomfortable with a high risk of losing your flight if you don't add at least 1-1.5 hour to the turning back home travel. 5) there's a hidden fee of 12.5 euros fro xleaning the car (25€ if you don't want to pay it during the renting period and they consider the car is dirty when you turn it back. Conclusion: never ever!

Die Abwicklung war professionell und zügig, das Fahrzeug in einem sehr guten Zustand. Es wurde nicht versucht Zusatzleistungen oder eine höhere Fahrzeugklasse zu verkaufen.Einzige Zusatzleistung war eine Endreinigung für 12,50€, was fair ist. Es gab auch das Angebot einer Vollkaskoversicherung, Preis dafür auch in Ordnung, durchaus sinnvoll bei den innerstädtisch engen Straßen, würde ich beim nächsten Mal abschließen. Während der Übergabe wird das Fahrzeug von allen Seiten fotografiert und dem Kunden diese Aufnahmen per Mail geschickt, zusammen mit den restlichen Unterlagen. Die Rückgabe war in 5min erledigt, dabei wurden die Aufnahmen mit dem Fahrzeugzustand verglichen. Einziger Minuspunkt war, dass die Abholung am Flughafen zunächst nicht geklappt hat, mein Anruf wurde nicht entgegen genommen aber nach 5min war das Fahrzeug da. Zeitgleich wurde innerhalb der Familie noch zwei weitere Fahrzeuge bei Wettbewerbern gemietet, deutlicher Unterschied!

La voiture était ok par rapport à notre commande.
Par contre le service général n'était pas au rdv.
1)nous avons dû payer des pénalités pour la prise en charge 35€. Nous sommes arrivés a l'aéroport a 19h35 et au point de rdv a 19h45. Nous avons attendu la navette du loueur puis sur place et du coup effectivement la finalisation du contrat a 20h10. Je trouve ça complètement incorrect.
2) Au retour, l'organisation était loin d'être optimum. Nous avons était limite pour prendre notre vol car beaucoup d'attente.
3) les agents (une partie) étaient vraiment dangereux pour la conduite des voitures dans la montée. Plusieurs clients en ont interpellé un qui conduisait avec une vitesse très excessive.

Bref je ne conseille pas cette agence, je vous encourage a regarder ailleurs sachant qu'il y en a plein.

The car was good and the pickup and transport back to the airport with the shuttle was okay. (Took about 10 minutes each way)
You have to pay an extra 12.50€ for cleaning before getting the car or 25€ after you delivered it when it isn’t clean. So if it is just a bit cheaper than the closest competitor you might want to choose the other one.

one can tell that they are relatively new in this market:

The staff is very friendly and the cars are all new

BUT:
-when I rented I was confirmed that there is a shuttle running every 20min - after 40 min in the sun I called just to find out, that there is no regular shuttle but they pick up according to the time of your reservation. I was very a car would be available so I was there about 1h early, just to wait in the sun
also the pickup was different from what I was communicated - they are the only one who do not pick up where all others do
-then rental conditions said tank full / full .. it wasnt.. I hate this because you always pay "too much". Plus there was an issue with the electronics, even it was "almost full" it didnt show!
-then they charge you 12.50 EUR if you dont clean the car yourself and you have to tell them beforehand. I never had to "wash my rental car" and clean it inside before returning (I understand if it is very dirty inside you pay extra)
So the rental didnt start nicely (I have about 3-4 rentals per months so I can compare)
but as I said at the beginning, the staff is very friendly so this is a nice aspect

Ask to pay twice the price because I have a "Virtul Bank". Like Fortuneo for exemple.
Ok, it's in the contract but
1) I have never seen that before
2) the guy do not wan to take the credit card of my wife because it's not the same first name of the driver...? What the problem...?
It's look like the big bonus for them.
Ok, it is on the contrat but seriously it's a trap.
Beside that, no pb with the car
