Bad information from customer service ruined my program.

I had used up my 3 activation keys since purchasing the PhantomPDF software. I had used the program to put a user license on my e-book, to prevent copying and printing.

I needed a new activation key because I had been running it on Windows 7, and wanted to transfer it to my newer Windows 11, So, after calling a Foxit rep to inquire if it would work on Windows 11, she said yes, and sent me a new activation key, and she deactivated the program on Win 7. But after I installed it on Win 11, I found that the program didn't work on Win 11. I now had no working program. So, I called back, and the other rep told me it wouldn't work on Win 11, and I was basically up a creek without a paddle, and had to purchase a yearly or perpetual license ($209) if I didn't want the yearly license. Had I known this I would have kept using it on Windows 7. For a program that has very expensive licensing options, this resulted in a very negative review of Foxit. I will never use any of their programs again.

Exploring other options, I discovered I could do almost everything I needed to do in Foxit, by instead using the free LibreOffice office suite with the same security properties (no copying or printing). That was done by opening LibreOffice, selecting LibreOffice Draw, opening my PDF in LibreOffice Draw, then selecting from the menu, File > Export As> Export as PDF. This brings up a dialog box called PDF Options. From there you can add a password to secure either the whole document or to secure certain properties by preventing copying or printing.

I am finding so many companies like Adobe and Foxit and NCH and others who are trying to milk every dollar than can from consumers. Thankfully, there are many other options using open source software, or some companies that still offer perpetual licenses for a reasonable fee.

Make sure to read the fine print

Make sure to read the fine print. I signed up expecting a monthly subscription, but it turned out to be an annual license disguised as a regular monthly plan. Customer service couldn’t have cared less. Extremely deceptive business practice. I will never do business with them again or with any company associated with them.

I had a very disappointing experience…

I had a very disappointing experience with this company, especially dealing with Engineer Adnan. From the beginning, there was a lack of professionalism and clear communication. Commitments were made but not fulfilled, timelines were not respected, and overall coordination was very poor.

The quality of work did not meet expectations, and there were multiple issues that required follow-up, wasting both time and money. Instead of taking responsibility, the company showed a careless attitude toward resolving problems.

I would strongly advise others not to waste their time or money with this company. There are many better and more reliable service providers available in the market.

Very unprofessional service and poor management. Not recommended at all.

Terrible Service

Terrible Service, theives!

They keep charging me for a service that I've stopped using 5 months ago! They claim that I've signed up for yearly contract but paying monthly (how phishy!!)

I had to lock my credit card entirely just to not let them capture more money as I do with any scammers.

DO NOT USE THEIR SERVICES, THEY ARE BUNCH OF THEIVES WHO LOOK FOR JUST STEALING MONEY.

Version d'essai, une blague...

J’ai voulu télécharger la version d’essai de 14 jours de Foxit Editor, le téléchargement a duré des heures, l’activation a été laborieuse, mon mot de passe n’étant jamais reconnu, puis une fois qu’il l’a été, à la fin de cet interminable processus, l’interface a affiché le nombre de jours qu’il me restait pour l’essai gratuit : 0 jour ! ZÉRO ! Une matinée perdue pour cette blague !
Mais en voyant le nombre de très mauvais commentaires sur Trustpilot, je ne regrette pas d’avoir été détourné de ce logiciel avant même de l’avoir testé, ainsi je ne suis pas tenté d’acheter une version payante ! J’irai voir ailleurs.

I notified support (Case #663409) to cancel my subscription in January, yet Foxit continued to charge my card in Jan and Feb. Agent Hana acknowledged my request but still refused to refund. I've opened a formal complaint (#691713) and have been ignored for 3 days. Very disappointing service.

Terrible company

Terrible company. Very deceptive in their subscriptions. Make you sign for a full year with monthly payments. Dumbest thing I have ever seen. Support refuses to refund it. Software is extremely glitchy, doesn’t work well at all. Their overall 1.6 star rating is certainly very fitting. Wish I had seen this before I subscribed. Would have saved me from this monstrosity of a problem.

Honestly one of the Worst UX ever

Honestly one of the Worst UX ever. Doesn't make any sense. Doesnt tell you how many licences are being used so you just have to guess. Gives you activation keys for each license but you dont actually need them for anything because now you just use email for everything.... but then everything on the platform goes off license key/codes... surely it would be easier to just encompass everything into one if anything.

Geld für nichts

Mir wurde vor 4 Jahren für richtig viel Geld eine Voll-Lizenz als Eigentum verkauft.

Einmal zahlen und dafür immer nutzen mit regelmässigen Updates. Davon ist heute nichts mehr übrig.

Was great years ago but now its a cash grab. Do not use Foxit if you value a good product. All they want is to max extract.

Software to display ads that can also be used for pdfs

Imagine putting ads in a pdf reader. it's just so awesome to have some ad next to the scroll bar that's super easy to misclick.

I received a prompt response from Foxit, and was able to find what I was trying to do. As I indicated earlier it is a pretty good program, need better upgrade options.

I purchased the paid in full option version of the software in 2024. The program recently began to malfunction. Was unable to get any support. Then i was notified that an upgrade was available. When I clicked on the link to upgrade I was given 2 options to purchase paid in full version (again, I had already purchased the paid in full option in 2024) or purchase an annual subscription.
The software actually if it works is pretty good, but because you are going to have problems sooner or later I would avoid purchasing because of what you are likely to go through sometime down the road.

They changed the policy for the…

They changed the policy for the maintenance support starting from 2025 because, even if you have it, you can upgrade to the new version free.

They don't even offer a discount because they want you to pay the full license (again) at more than €250!!

Don't Bother

This software isn't user friendly at all. In order to talk to anyone you need to use the online chat and even then, the staff can't answer a direct question. Just avoid. There are plenty of better options in the market.

I had to change my credit card because they keep charging me even If I had disabled autorenewal. I contacted their customer support and they do not answer. STAY AWAY FROM THIS SCAM!

Works Really Well For Anything You Want

I've been using it for years and I love this PDF software. I face many problems all the time with the way others make their PDFs and Foxit has always been able to compensate and solve problems well that other people cause. Anything you can think of they can do and not just kind of do it enough to work, they do it well. I just wish they had a perpetual license for mobile cause I would definitely buy it.

Horrible software

Horrible software. can’t use on most operating systems. It’s really an abomination - just go to Adobe. Also make sure you’re not signed up for renewing subscriptions and make sure you cancel your trials even if you call and speak with someone. they say they shut off the recurring payments but go to your dashboard and make sure. it’s hard getting there too, but it’s worth it because they will not give you a refund if they charge you despite the fact that your company is paying for a different subscription!

TERRIBLE onboarding journey and can't actually use it

TERRIBLE onboarding journey. Needed pdf editor for new laptop, am very familiar with Acrobat. What went wrong? Unable to actually get in and use it. Signed up - set user name and password - downloaded desktop app for windows. logged in - rehjected, told to contact admin. Decided to reset, clear history, ask for new password. Same happened again - and it kept redicting to online. ChatPGT suggested finding the relevant exe which i di - magic! I could see the dashboard - covered by a login box. Entered the details with 10000% certainty both were correct. yes, you guessed it. login rejected again. did this several times. What a waste of 17 minutes. if it took this long to not even let me log in, can't imagine what it's like to use. a shame, as it does look good. but its portal is so skewed towards pushing a paid subscription it ruins what could be a simple journey. I've used and downloaded literally hundreds of apps and software, from Snaig, fireshot, acrobat to many others. this was the WORST "onboarding" journey I've ever experienced.
