It's hard to pick a favourite amongst the flavours, with chocolate the only one I haven't tried. But if forced to pick one, salted caramel has a slight edge over the cherry bakewell with the tiny bi... Se mer

Flaming Phoenix makes Phoenix Bars: specialised high-calorie nutrition bars for people who need maximum energy in the smallest, easiest-to-eat form. Each 120g bar delivers up to 557 calories (4.64 calories per gram), making Phoenix Bars among the most calorie-dense bars available in the UK. Every bar is vegan and gluten-free, comes in six flavours, and can be eaten as a soft flapjack or stirred into hot water to make an easy-to-digest porridge. Phoenix Bars were developed after more than 150 conversations with ultra-endurance athletes, expedition leaders and people who find eating difficult. Three groups choose them most: ultra-runners and endurance athletes who need compact race fuel; expedition teams, mountaineers, hikers and ocean rowers, with Phoenix Bars carried at the Marathon des Sables and on South Pole expeditions; and people managing periods of low appetite or unintended weight loss, when every bite has to count. Flaming Phoenix is a small, independent UK business. Founder James hand-packs every order from his home in Surrey and personally replies to every email, usually the same day. The bars are made in the UK in small batches by a SALSA-certified manufacturer, ship quickly across the UK, and are also available to customers across Europe, the USA and Canada. Customers rate Phoenix Bars 5.0 out of 5 across more than 370 verified reviews collected on our website. Questions about flavours, bundles, an upcoming race or expedition, or fuelling when appetite is low? Get in touch. Every message gets a personal reply.

Had a long race coming up and always…
Had a long race coming up and always looking for good ways to fuel. Came across the high calorie bars in my search, messaged James (the founder) and he was able to guide me to best bars for me. Great tasting product and really helped me through my race. Will be purchasing more for next race.

Really happy to hear you enjoyed your Phoenix Bars Sam! Thank you for taking the time to write a review :) Best, James
Simple fuel, steady energy, no drama.
I used two vanilla bars during the Yorkshire Three Peaks training run with my dog — officially 24 miles with 5,250 feet of ascent, though my Garmin recorded 6,490 feet. I broke each bar into around six pieces and ate them throughout the round.
They were easy to eat, didn’t clog my mouth, and I wasn’t left spitting out dry food — a real plus compared with other bars that can be too dry. I also had no stomach discomfort while running or trotting, and they didn’t put me off taking more fuel on the hour.
My energy levels felt steady throughout, with no dips or crashes that needed a quick sugar hit — which often leads to more lows later. Overall, I only used the two bars, one energy gel for the final push up Ingleborough. The rest of my food stayed untouched, which was excellent.
In summary, the big win was steady energy over the full 5 hours 51 minutes training run.
