Da evitare come la peste.
A un primo noleggio mi hanno contestato un danno sotto la scocca che non era visibile al check in e che non avevo fatto.
A un secondo noleggio (andato a buon fine) si stanno trattenendo da due mesi la franchigia di 500 euro.

AVOID this company at all cost! Especially if you are foreigner.

Rented a car in Cape Town for one day on 14.11.24.
I'm Dutch and registering with a non SA pasport is a problem in it self, but i managed somehow to book and confirm a car online. At arrival in Cape it all went smooth and digital, brand new Susuki car and returned full tank and no scratch the same day. So far so good.

For only a R651 rent I had to pay 2 deposits of R5000 and R2000, 10times more than the day rent..

On the 15th I received R2000 deposit back.
The same day I received a letter by email in which they claim to release the R5000.
But still have not received the R5000 as of 27.11.24.

Getting online support for non SA residents is impossible, only accepts SA passports. I called them couple of times, nobody picks up the phone.

Please note the firstcarrental domain is a http address, it misses the 's' from safety, that's odd and typical for scammers.

Seems they also dont accept emails also. Try and find an email address, they dont issue one.

I initiated legal steps. This is plain theft.

This company has horrible reviews all over the internet. Watch out as their quoted fee often excludes other fees added right at the end of the booking process. Also, even if you do not start the booking but just visit the site, you will be flooded with emails demanding you complete your "booking" and "prepayment". They probably steal your details from cookies on your computer from other disreputable companies like Facebook and Google.

Alquilé un coche hace casi mes y medio, con seguro completo y aún no me han devuelto el depósito de 500 euros. Les he llamado y escrito mil veces y no responden, iré por vía judicial. Son unos estafadores y caraduras, EVITAR COMO LA PESTE.

AVOID this company at all cost! Paid R5500, R2000 fuel and fines deposit and R3500 holding deposit. Received only R2000 back. So before I left O.R Tambo I went inside to the office and complaint about the missing R3500. I was told that the rest will be going back in to my account at some point. It’s been weeks and still no R3500. No wonder they willing to take debit cards because they steal off people and it’s day light robbery. I will never ever use their service again. You think they would improve their service after seeing all these negative feedbacks. Clearly they don’t care so please Avoid these clowns.

I hired a car from First Car with much trepidation due to the numerous negative reviews, not only for First Car, but all other hire car companies in South Africa.
My concerns were laid to rest having experienced a level of service which I can only describe as world-leadingly professional and debunks those, in often times, questionable negative reviews.
Would I hire a car from first car again and/or recommend them as First choice:- Absolutely, without a moment's hesitation.
So, well done to all service staff and if there was a 10-star rating, you've earned it. Well done.

We hired a Group E car in Port Elizabeth for about a week to be returned back in George. The customer service on pick up was slow and the Suzuki model was below the standard car hired from JHB airport.

We returned the car in George only to find there is no local service station to refuel the car. Fortunately I filled the car on the way to the airport after leaving Knysna. My picture of the fuel gauge show almost full.
The rental invoice I received showed a charge for over 10 litres of fuel - equal to a quarter of a tank of fuel.
My complaint requesting a review was simple ignored and rejected.

Excellent service from start to end. At first, I was pretty apprehensive given the number of dire reviews. However, I have to say that my experience was extremely positive. The check-out procedure was fast and efficient. Staff explained what I needed to know and I was quickly on the road. The car was clean and we had no problems whatsoever. Upon returning the car, the check-in was hassle free and within 5 mins we had signed our return document and handed over the keys. The deposit was returned a few days later. All in all, it turned out to be one of the best car rental experiences we have ever had!

I rented a suzuki s-presso from First car rental that has no theft prevention features i.e. no alarm and a boot lock that could be opened with a spoon.

Obviously it was an easy target as someone was able to break into the car in a matter of seconds using just a blunt instrument and take all my belonging.

They surely know these cars are vulnerable to break in yet they rent them anyway putting their customers at risk.

First car rental then decided they would also steal from me and took a further 4500 rand because someone else broke into the car.

The car rental stole more from me more than the actual car thief that attacked the car.

Do not use this company unless you want to be double victim!

Hired a car for a week in SA, returned it, but staff in the office advised we cannot check in the car (ie. check it with a person) but had to drop the key in the key box. A couple of days later we are being billed for a missing wheel spanner R2500 ( £120). First off, we never used the wheel spanner so either it was not in the car whilst we drove it (never checked with us at pick-up) which makes me highly concerned about having had to change a tyre in the middle of nowhere in SA, did a lot of long distance night driving with my young family. Secondly I have no apparent defence for anyone taking a wheel spanner out of the car after it was dropped on their site. Third, a wheel spanner does not cost £120. I would strongly advise you to reconsider using this company. We had multiple emails and the last response to just escalated to the point of them demanding the payment.

No reservéis ningún coche con esta compañía.Son unos estafadores.Mi viaje fue 31 Agosto 2024 . Y escribo esto el día 24 octubre y afecta de hoy todavía estoy sin devolución de la fianza de 500 euros. Estoy reclamando por vía legal.

They were really rude over the phone, shouting at me for my flight being delayed. They were actually pretty reasonable on drop off, however it has now been 6 weeks from returning the car and they have not released my deposit back. I’m incurring interest on this and I’ve contacted them, and they promise to release it then they just don’t do it. AVOID!! trying to go through different routes to get it back but not got much hope now.

We rented a Suzuki Celerio - bottom of the range, no central locking, manual windows, windscreen wipers that did not work. They did not respond to our concerns over the windscreen wiper quality - but are more than happy to take your money for any defect and have still not released the deposit. A whopping R12000 - however a week before for rental of a Suzuki S-Presso (with more features) was a deposit of R6000.
Shocking and crazy amounts, poor communication and not releasing funds. Would not recommend.

Wij hadden de auto gehuurd vanuit Nederland en een all risk verzekering afgesloten met one way fee, want wij zouden de auto ophalen in Port Elizabeth en inleveren in Capetown. In zuid afrika, Port Elizabeth, zeiden ze dat wij niet all risk verzekerd waren en ook geen one way fee hadden betaald. Verder waren wij volgens hen niet verzekerd voor ruitschade en banden. Wij hebben hen nog de factuur laten zien waarop dit allemaal al stond, dat gold niet zeiden ze, dat was niet bekend bij hen. Wij moesten dus extra betalen voor iets wat we al hadden. Later hoorden wij dat ze dit altijd proberen. Hele slechte service. Ook hadden wij bij het ophalen van de auto geen ruitschade, maar bij de eerste tankbeurt maken ze je ruiten schoon, en toen hadden we ineens 3 pitten in de ruit. Bij inlevering in Capetown meldden wij dit en toen hebben ze het schaderapport van de vorige huurder opgevraagd en hier stonden de 3 pitten in de voorruit duidelijk op! Ze hadden de 3 pitten kennelijk met iets opgevuld zodat het niet zichtbaar was bij de nieuwe verhuur. Dit is gewoon fraude! De auto was verder wel ok, maar dit soort praktijken kunnen echt niet!

Das Auto wurde über Check24 gebucht. Bei der Fahrzeugübergabe mussten alle persönlichen Daten und Informationen noch einmal eingegeben werden. Das war zeitraubend und unnötig. Während der Anmietung gab es keine weiteren Probleme. Die Abgabe war unproblematisch, es wurde mir bescheinigt, dass alles in Ordnung ist. Leider erhielt ich keine Endrechnung, somit sehe ich nur auf meiner Kreditkarte die Abbuchung von knapp 20€. Ich habe keine Ahnung, warum! Ich kann First Car Rental nicht kontaktieren, da ich über Check24 gebucht habe. Check24 teilt mir mit, dass ich mich an den Vermieter wenden soll. So drehe ich mich im Kreis ohne Antwort.

Costumer service is awful. The car was OK, didn't lock proper. You had to lock each door in turn. Which I found a problem in South Africa (safety). Cheap, but if I had a second chance, I would choose a different Rental Service .

The hold on my account has not been taken off 6 days after returning the vehicle. Refund for the R2000 charged for refueling also outstanding. Charged R93 fuel after I gave my garage invoice as proof of refueling. The agents closes calls logged before speaking to you.

I should have read these reviews before renting a car from First Car Rental! After returning the car with a full tank of gas and in the same condition as we got it(checked and signed by the person who received the car from us), we were supposed to get a R3000 deposit back, but only recieved R238.80, with no explanation! I see now from all these reviews that they are simply scammers and crooks.

Dont rent in First Sofia ,They don't return the deposit and charged me with no explanation.They don't answer phone calls and emails.They are robbers
