Clothes quality has dropped and some items dont quite match the website. I probably wont buy again unfortunately.

I’m writing this review on behalf of my mother, who ordered a dress from Etc Clothing in early October.

She understood it was a pre-order item and accepted there would be a delay. Based on the information provided, she reasonably expected it around December.

December came and went with no dress and no update.

After she contacted the company, she was told it would arrive in January. January also passed with no delivery.

She has since emailed twice more asking for an update and, most recently, requesting a refund. Those emails have not received any reply.

The last communication from the company was on 23 February, when they sent a lengthy explanation about their process. In that email they stated:

“Our standard wait time for pre-orders is 3–4 months from the time we initially list the item for pre-order until the time it arrives at our warehouse.”

They went on to explain that after the pre-order period, the garments take 6–8 weeks to be made, are then sent to quality control, loaded into a container “when it can find space”, spend 3–4 weeks at sea, and then take 5–7 days to clear customs and reach their warehouse.

They also noted that much of the process is “out of our control” and that delays can occur.

However, even allowing for all of that, we are now well beyond the timeframe they themselves outlined. It has been more than six months since the order was placed, and there is still no dress, no clear delivery date, and now no response at all to emails.

Delays can happen. What is unacceptable is poor communication and ignoring customers who are simply asking for an update or refund.

Waiting over half a year for a $70 dress — and then being met with silence — is not reasonable service by any standard.

We understand that small businesses face challenges, but basic customer service should still apply. At the very least, customers deserve honest updates and replies to their emails.

Based on this experience, I would strongly caution others about pre-ordering from this company. The wait may be far longer than suggested, and getting a response when things go wrong appears to be very difficult.

UPDATE
I have tried complaining to the company via their Facebook messenger. Their response - to email and there are delays in getting back to people.

They seem to be able to update their social media multiple times a day, but cannot be assed getting back to paying customers. Beware.... what a waste of our time!

Clothing supposed to arrive in 21 working days. Almost 3 months later they won't reply to my emails and delete my posts on their fb page. Clothing quality really dropped off in last year. No idea when I will see my items.

I won't buy from this company again. 2 months wait for a tee shirt that was not a pre-order.
Poor communication, and there was no way I could actually engage with the owner to request a refund once I realised it wasn't even in stock. They have automated email replies, and shut down comments and messaging on their Facebook page.
The fit of the tee is also weird, very long for a size L

I wanted to believe in this company. There have been some very shady dealings including silencing those with genuine complaints. There is photo evidence of products turning up that do not match the quality and appearance of what is advertised. It is a matter of time before someone complains to the Commerce Commission or Ombudsman about this trader. Etc is in violation of several aspects of the Consumer Guarantees Act, one being that they do not supply goods when stated (this even applies to preorders).

My preorder arrived late (five months later, but a week or so after the date promised). It also does not match the product advertised. I purchased the spring peonies bomber, which is too flimsy for a jacket. It is not hot pink but a washed out colour. It does not have silver bands on the wrists as you see in one of the pictures on the website.

I believe the seller makes most of her money on preorders with ai conceptualising photos so that she can smash them out. I don’t trust in any concrete notion at the design stage of how and when things will get made. For this reason, the spring bomber pictures have silver bands on the wrists of one photo but not the other; this is proof that on hindsight I should have been aware of and sadly am now. I bought on the reputation of old product, which I have, and which was honestly amazing quality (and the reason I have given another star). Nowadays, I am afraid, people will grow more and more unhappy with what they receive.

She claims any negative feedback is bullying and brigading. It is not. It is just people, like me, who loved her ideas but sadly feel as if we have been taken around the block. Something has been very, very lost, and it is so sad considering how much vision there once was.

I will do a google review too and upload pictures so you can see for yourselves.

My nana ordered me a rainbow star hoodie on the 17th of August 2025 and it just arrived today on the 18th of February 2026 you shouldn't wait for 6 months for a hoodie so ridiculous doesn't deserve 1 star it's a alright hoodie tho not going to order stuff from here again

Don’t buy from here they are a joke! Ordered in August and still no delivery. First ETA was November then December then January and no update since. Does not reply to emails I will never ever buy from them again.

DO NOT BUY FROM HERE. Ordered something in August with delivery expected in November.
December no order or update.
January still no order.
February still no order, so I emailed multiple times, then asked on Facebook for any updates...... Still no response, instead I get blocked from all social media and my order canceled. Unbelievable this 'business' is still running

ETC clothing has a flawed pre orders system system and very poor communication that has resulted in this first time customer being a last time customer. 5 months and still no item. I am now concerned about the quality after reading other reviews . Their communication is zero, and when u try and make very diplomatic comments on their Facebook page they sensor and delete your comments effectively silencing all complaints. They should spend that time being more productive with their customer service, because there are many more ways to make our voices heard than on Facebook. Do better ETC and buyers beware.

Ordered 5 weeks ago 2 products marked as in stock and available on the website, shipping timeframes max 4 days dispatch. Emailed a couple of times in January and was given the runaround about when they would be shipped, have now requested refund as it has been so long and have no faith they will actually be sent. Emails are now being completely ignored so doubt I will receive products or refund. Owner of company posts multiple rants on social media claiming she is being bullied and harassed but has no time to respond to customers emails. BUYER BEWARE

Do not buy from here. I ordered earlier last year on pre-order, told it would be sent out Oct-Nov. Didnt arrive until Jan. For it to then look nothing like what I ordered. Pre-sale or not or on sale or not. Its not what I ordered and then I dont get responses to emails sent. I am not alone. Sort it out ETC clothing. This is not how you treat your supporters. I will be taking this further.

Been waiting over a month for my order that has still not been dispatched (no, it wasn't a preorder). Have emailed and messaged on facebook 3-4 times in this month and only had one response after my second email which stated they'll dispatch as soon as they arrive and when i responded to that asking for a refund I got an automated message to say they were on holiday. I just want my money back.

Ordered an item that never said pre-order. After weeks of it not arriving, and me having to resort to asking on facebook where my order was, I was told it was actually a pre order. My questions were then deleted and i was blocked from the facebook page. Terrible terrible customer service.

If I could give it zero stars I would. Nearly 4 months and my order has still not arrived and zero communication from the person running this so called "business". So many rave reviews on the social media page, and people claiming to be such an awesome company to find the owner goes through and deletes every single negative comment or question. Doesn't have a google landing page so cant leave a review, and reviews turned off on Facebook as well, I wonder why. People may end up getting their orders eventually but 4 months no communication, dodgy as anything.
