Tech support is outstanding
Tech support is outstanding. Interface is almost fool proof.
Used to spend long days preparing accounts for HMRC and Companies House. This is now reduced to less then an hour and when I don't understand something, the tech support is instantly available via an active chat window that is part of the interface. Lots of time saved and no more headaches. Just brilliant!!!

As a total amateur this is doable.
As a total amateur this is doable. Yes you have to think but by persisting you gain a better understanding of your company finances which is of course a benefit as well as saving a considerable amount of money. I recommend this product.

Best filing software for non-accountants (by a mile!)
The Easy Digital Filing software is absolutely brilliant. If you have a small limited company with relatively simple accounts and want to do the filing yourself, this software is the market leader by some distance.
You need to be able to confidently prepare a profit-loss statement and balance sheet in order to have the figures available to enter into the software (if you can't do this, use an accountant!).
But assuming that basic financial knowledge, it is so simple to prepare the CT600, company accounts and companies house submission. The price is also very reasonable.
I can't speak highly enough of this product, it's a joy to use.

We designed our software specifically for small and micro business to give them a reasonably priced easy way to ensure they are able to meet there annual account and tax requirements for both HMRC and Companies House, without the cost of using an accountant.
For anyone that is a little unsure about preparing their accounts, we do also offer a managed filing service where one of our digital accountants will prepare everything for you.

Amazing support and simple to use
Found this software after spending a considerable amount of time struggling with another provider. It was very useful to be able to try it out first before paying, unlike the other provider which you purchase before hand. The help messages and warnings walk you through completing the tax return bit and the accounts were a breeze. I had a few questions on the balance sheet (never too sure about creditors etc) but their support team answered my chat questions quickly. All in all 10/10 Well done!

It is a basic system that does the job to simply put it.
however, it would be more helpful if we can add our own expenses name rather than having to use the ones provided in the software only.
Also some of the expenses are under the wrong heading category. e.g. travel and subsistence, motor expenses are under staff cost rather than administrative cost. fix these and the ratings will go up.

We have pre-set fields in our accounts as these need to be tagged with IXBRL which match the HMRC's Taxonomy. Digital filing is very different from the past where accounts expense and income categories could be customised as they did not need to be computer readable. If you would like to use custom accounts you can upload your own as long as they are already IXBRL tagged.

Some drawbacks, and expensive, but it did work first time
I had already prepared statutory accounts and filed an abbreviated version at Companies House. This app forced me to recategorise the profit and loss account into their captions rather than being able to use my own. There is no 'white space' for additional disclosures on items to which you may wish to draw HMRC's attention. The Warning/Error facility is useful but clunky. I thought it was very poor value for money.

To answer your points raised:
With regards to the profit and loss categories; these are defined by HMRC who require FRS105 iXBRL tagged against HMRC's Taxonomy - we don't control this, it is a HMRC requirement. As this is now Digital filing, the profit and loss entries in your accounts are read by the HMRC electronic filing interface, and will fail validation if not tagged correctly. If you have existing iXBRL tagged accounts, you can upload these instead of using our accounts FRS105/FRS102A templates.
If you want to provide additional information, "white space" (sic), there is a section in the accounts templates for this. These are again iXBRL tagged for HMRC. If you have additional information for HMRC about your tax calculation outside of this iXBRL tagged input, HMRC supports a pdf document attached which you can upload in our CT600 filing.
If you are at all unsure of how to use our software our UK based responsive support team are more than happy to help, you can either contact our trained accounting professionals by our online chat, (8.30 – 17.30) or by calling us. You have only to read our other reviews (99% are 4* and above) to know that our team go over and above to ensure our customers have a great experience.
I am also sorry you don't consider our software to be good value. We believe our prices offer exceptional value for money based on the ease of use and the excellent support provided. Saas based software is not cheap to build and maintain, however we have not raised our prices in over 4 years, despite being under the same inflationary pressures as every other UK based business. As a small UK business ourselves, we understand these stresses as much as our customers do.
We offer you a free trial of our software, you only have to pay before submission and only if you are completely happy.
As our software is web-based you have the advantage of being able to use our software on multiple devices across multiple locations without having to install anything locally, and be safe in the knowledge that your data is stored securely, encrypted, backed up and available 24 X 7 on our UK servers. We are an approved software provider by both HMRC and Companies house and a regulated Agent supervised by HMRC.

Always very helpful, really like the fact you can chat online and the answer was instant for us which really helped & all with professional & friendly advice as usual. Very Easy Filing
This is my third year of using Easy Digital Filing for preparing and filing of statutory accounts.
