Great car hire experience - no issues
Car as requested. No hard sale for additional insurance. Great reception team and quick transfer and book in. Hired car for nearly 5 weeks and no issues. Certainly would recommend the company and would use again.

Check the excess
Great service, but feel it’s better to book direct rather than a 3rd party. Even tho we had paid for full insurance with Bookings.com, we were told the excess was so much more than if we had just booked direct. Ended up paying an excess waiver with them. Also car had window screen crack, we changed it and upgraded car.

Great service
Great service - shuttle from the airport took 5 mins. Promptly given immaculate car with great AC, which was essential in Cairns. Drop off and returned by shuttle to airport. Quick no waiting around !!!

I booked a rental through Booking.com…
I booked a rental through Booking.com and paid the full amount of $1,188 for 23 days. However, the East coast car rentals refused to provide the car or issue a refund because I returned the previous car 3–4 days late. Booking.com also stated that a refund is not possible.

Thank you for your response. I would like to address a concern regarding the inconsistency in your actions. After I returned the vehicle, I was informed that I had been blacklisted in your system, and you refused to honor a booking made via Booking.com. However, a few days later, I made a booking directly through your website, and a vehicle was provided to me without issue.
This discrepancy raises questions about the application of your policies. Could you please clarify how such an inconsistency occurred and provide an explanation for the differing treatment of bookings?

Thank you for getting back to me. I really appreciate that you provided the car again with a $500 deposit when I booked directly through your website. However, I feel the same approach should have been taken when I booked through Booking.com. As someone who’s been a customer for a long time, losing $1,188 feels really unfair. When booking through a third-party platform like Booking.com, it’s important to review the terms and conditions outlined during the booking process. These terms form the basis of your agreement with the third party and the rental provider. Refunds and changes to bookings are bound by these terms, which is why we recommend contacting the booking platform directly regarding their refund policies.

A hybrid sedan exceeds our expectations
We seldom order a hired sedan as we always prefer a SUV, but for this booking of 2 days, the Camey that we booked came with a very attractive price, and its performance validated our choice. While we had worried about the boot to accommodate our baggage, and to our surprise. The boot could take on 3 medium to large suitcases for this family of four.

East Coast Car Rentals, as far as I’m concerned, went all out to satisfy our needs. I had my 18 month old granddaughter and daughter with me and on mentioning it to the staff when I booked, when they came to meet us at the airport, the pickup bus was fitted out with a car seat for her to transport us to the depot, a big plus in my eyes, that they took that much care. Staff were so helpful in fitting the car seat and a booster seat, effortlessly for them. Everything was a pleasure for them, along with cost and condition of the car. Thank you to all staff members for making our 5 day trip to Sydney to visit family before Xmas an easy and enjoyable experience. Will definitely use you again and again.
