Great prices. Great info provided. Would improve the information provided if the excess insurance waiver was explained in more detail. I note the site's "refundable excess" only covers up to $7,000 which is not clearly visible during the booking process.

No customer service after reservation paid in full
We booked our travel through Flight Centre New Zealand including the car rental which was done by Flight Centre through Driveaways.
Something we have learnt at great cost never pay for your car rental in full upfront cause if there is an issue and you need to exchange your car for a lower class vehicle which is charged at a lower rate you are likely never to see a refund and to get someone to even consider reviewing the issue is almost impossible.
It oWe collected the class T vehicle (full size SUV - Suburban) from Lincoln Park branch in Chicago on 14 September and agreed to add 3 additional drivers , road side assistance and a hold of 2% as we had paid for the full rental before even embarking on our flight to the USA.
Due to unforeseen circumstances we exchanged the full size suv for a Nissan Sentra sedan and the young lady who assisted us advised that all charges including the difference in class vehicle rates would be sorted on return of the vehicle in Los Angeles and we accepted this.
However we then noted that the hold on our credit card had gone up to $1835USD and then started querying this with both Flight centre And Hertz. Two additional drivers were removed and the credit was noted and finalised when we got to LA.
This additional hold of funds over and above what we had agreed to caused untold stress and impact on our ability to fully enjoy the activities we had planned as we had carefully budgeted everything and had a small contingency that we could access.
On returning the vehicle we queried again with the customer service at LA about the difference in rates for the different class services and were told to wait for the finalisation and then query. This we duly did and called to both Hertz billing who advised us the Lincoln Park would need to do the rate change as the plan originated by them and then Lincoln Park advised that Springfield Missouri probably should have closed out the initial plan and opened a new plan and not exchanged the car using the same plan and that we should contact the agent through whom we made the reservation and they should work out the difference and advise Hertz who would then in turn process the difference in class rate.
Well this has not happened and neither Hertz, Driveaways or Flight Centre can advise what the difference in class rate is between the class T Full size SUV and Nissan Sentra Sedan which according to Hertz is a medium size sedan is from 17 September to 2 October! As the rental was paid fully upfront and granted a better rate may have applied for the whole rental on a class T vehicle when booking - the class rate for the exchanged car would not have come close to the full rental paid. Doing a quick cost comparison across the entire rental period a medium size sedan would have been approximately $1200USD($2032 NZD) without taxes, additional driver and roadside assistance.
We queried everything starting from 20 September and then left it till we returned the car and again telephonically 2 days after the return directly with Hertz and then on 17 October telephonically with Driveaways followed up with an email to all parties Hertz,Flight centre and Driveaways.
Only responses received to date is we are awaiting information from Hertz and will get back to you along with please forward copies of all payments made to Hertz this from Flight centre- Hertz advised that an executive support person will be in contact in 2-3 days well nothing -
Overall a really bad experience

I booked a Europcar rental through DriveWay online and was given the options of GPS, child seat etc. I live in Northland and flew to Wellington to attend the funeral of a longtime friend who died very unexpectedly. When I picked up the car from Europcars I asked about the GPS and was told the car only had a 'slow GPS' ???? That was a lie, the car had NO GPS. I was 20mins late to the funeral and was gutted. DriveAway takes no responsibility for rental agents not providing the selected options offered on the Online booking and neither did Wellington Europcar. A case of taking a bite of the apple with no responsibility

This is the 3rd time I have booked Driveway for my rental car bookings picking up cars in the UK and I will use again.

Actually cost much higher than what was promised!
First this website will only let you post a review if you give them 3 starts or more. I give them zero!!
Your confirmation said their would be a $181 drop charge but when we picked the car up we were charged over $300. It was to late to do anything then .... driveaway had already charged our credit card for part of the total cost ... and we needed a car. Highway robbery!
