Coban Guitars Omdömen

Guitar was delivered quickly, all parts were present and the veneer finish was outstanding. The neck, similarly is of similar great quality, ..however...
The Headless bridge supplied, was of very poor quality, and no specific instructions were included for its construction or set up.
There IS an instruction booklet, but it's a generic guitar kit instruction book, and the headless guitar/neck/bridge are not described in it.
Re the bridge:-
Specifically, The small Allen bolts/grub screws in the bridge, for raising string height and intonation and other functionality, were of such poor quality that I found my Allen keys would chew the bolt head up if I was not exceptionally careful, ...I also believe that some of the grub screws are way too short, as I found that they were actually coming out of bottom of the threads, then just spinning underneath the individual blocks, if I raised the string height with them to a point where I had no string 'buzz'.
(This alone made tuning, string height & intonation almost impossible without either using shims, or replacing the grub screws, ..which I did, with ordinary screws. (Not quite as aesthetic, but a heck of a lot safer and easier), ....I really didn't want to risk having one jam inside and not be able to remove it).

I have also discovered that the tremolo arm retaining bolt has no effect. However you adjust the retaining grub screw, (also replaced..), the tremolo arm stays loose, and falls out.

Overall I found the "Overlord of Music" head, difficult to adjust, extremely finicky, and of really poor quality.
If it were not for these issues with the head/bridge, I think I would be delighted with the guitar, because as mentioned, the rest of the kit, (barring the lack of instructions), were of exceptional quality. I'll persevere with it for now, but I can honestly see myself ditching the head and fitting a better quality head/heads in the future, if my fixes don't work out.

It was easy to order online. There was a problem with dpd with the delivery but Mark at coban guitars was very good and sorted things out and chased it up with dpd. He kept me updated all the way till it was eventually delivered. Thanks Mark. I would definitely recommend them to others

very fast delivery, very pleased with quality. thank you.

I bought the build your own guitar kit for my husbands 60th birthday and he absolutely loved it.

From the website and its ease of finding the kit I was looking for to receiving it promptly my experience has been nothing short of excellent. Mind you, I still have to put it together, but that will take me a while yet as it will need stained, sealed, finished, glued, polished and the hardware assembled. But so far so good.

Very helpful on time delivery of great quality product in good packaging

Mark does a great job! He arranged a shipment to Italy in a few days. The communication went smooth and the item is perfect

Excellent quality guitars and really responsive service from Mark. He helped with all my enquiries

I have just received my third guitar kit from Mark at Coban Guitars, a 3 P90 pickups jazzmaster style, and it is absolutely superb, my previous kits, were a 335 style, and a PRS style kit. The bodies and necks, were always top quality, and the best materials always used, the routing always crisp and clean, making these kits,a pleasure to work with.I am 77 years old, and these kits have enhanced my hobby. I can say, Coban kits are by far the best available in the UK, and customer service is second to none. Thank you Mark for all your help and consideration.

Very nice and helpful people. Shipping to Germany was very fast. The kit i received is great - snug neck fit, good preparation of sanding, clean binding and veneering. Will buy again 🙃

Good points - Mark is very helpful and customer service is very good. The guitar body and neck seem very good and well made so 5 stars there. (I haven't built the kit yet because it's a Christmas present).

Bad points - the pickups and other hardware seem to be the same cheap stuff you will find in any low cost guitar kit. Can easily be upgraded though.
The box arrived wet and damaged but luckily everything was okay inside but only because I took it all out of the box immediately. Blame DPD for that!

First time using them but very efficient and items delivered sooner than expected in very secure packaging. Product itself appears well made and, so far, has been easy/enjoyable to work on. Slightly more detailed instructions would be good but not a show stopper. I'll happily use these guys again.

Great service delivered in 48hrs from ordering.
Product looks good on initial inspection and dry assembly seems to fit together well. Neck and fretboard fair a few high frets but expected at this price, I will roll the fretboard edges and level the frets before final assembly overall very pleased, great value considering it will be a one off when completed. Definitely recommend buying one of these kits if you want a guitar well below manufacturer's prices and prepared to do the work.

Fast Delivery, Item is great quality,
Great from start to finish

Excellent kit : was great fun building it, and is great fun playing it. I use it even more than my real Gibson. I highly recommend it !

Great kit had 4 up to now joy to make up very helpful and helpful delivery very quick

Over the moon, beautiful piece of wood can't wait to get started. The guitar was hand delivered very satisfied with the transaction.

Kept updated on delivery times, arrived on time.
Guitar kit looks to be of good quality, I will know better when I start assembly.

Great experience overall, but it would have been much better if each model had specific instructions on what to do like Ikea. Also thanks to Brexit I had to pay 70€ in customs on top of the 60€ for shipping to get the guitar to Europe.
