Very bad experience
If I could leave no stars I would. My seller issued a refund a month ago and clear pay have not passed t on to me and still taking the monthly payments. Impossible to speak to a person. Really bad and frustrating experience, will not use them again neither will my family and friends

Would like to give zero stars but not possible.
Have been randomly told my ID is unverified (despite the fact I have had my account for years and it was verified when I first signed up) and nobody is able to tell me why. They just repeat the same script every time I ask them.
And to make things worse, whilst in the middle of an email conversation, they tell me they cannot help me until I pass security checks to give them access to my account to discuss it, even though I already did that when I opened the case with them.
Pretty sure they just want to antagonise their customers!
Very evil company
Very evil company. No buyer protection. Made a booking with booking.com and through clearpay. They cancelled my booking.com room and I requested a refund then opened a dispute with clearpay. The refund with booking.com has now apparently been cancelled because I apparently done a chargeback which I did not. I only opened a dispute with clearpay so they wouldn’t continue charging me. Turns out they charge me anyways. I refuse to pay for a hotel booking that I never got to stay in ?????????????

I have always been a good customer - always paid on time, paid off things earlier. They have really disappointed me. I've lost £322 because of their lack of concern or help.
Word of advice - do not use WOWCHER through Clearpay!
Zero buyer protection if something goes wrong...
Clearpay has NO BUYER PROTECTION as they keep sending copy-paste replies that completely ignore the an issue I had with TEMU. There’s no real help, no escalation, and no solution.
If Clearpay offers no protection when a merchant withholds refunds, then it’s not a safe service to use. Customers are left with zero recourse.
Clearpay does not support customers when a merchant keeps their money. The responses feel scripted and dismissive, and the dispute process goes nowhere. Avoid using them as only your bank can protect you in these cases.

I never ever ever get my refunds back they always on customer service say the same thing and give you a link that doesn't exist. I am owed a good bit of money from them. I always pay them on time. But when I've been refunded by the seller clearpay email me to day it goes in my bank in ten days and about 7 times now over the past couple years this as happened and I have never ever received a refund
Unhappy with Clearpay
Like others who reported awaiting a refund from Debenhams I too have returned an item to Debenhams and await a refund from an order placed 26/11/2026.
I placed payments on hold with Clearpay (which is only for 14 days for refund to be actioned!!!!). Because this time frame has elapsed I have now had TWO PAYMENTS DEDUCTED TODAY from my bank account. I have transcripts to Debenhams/Boohoo as evidence of my communication but have the stock answer that refund is being processed.
I have similar transcript to Clearpay who requested order information etc which I have provided. I have evidence from Royal Mail tracking to say my parcel has reached its destination posted 1st class tracking 4/11/2025.
This is an absolute s**t show!
I am currently out of pocket by £45.86 with two further payment to go. I know this isn’t a fortune but with Christmas coming up it an amount I can’t afford.
I don’t seem to get support from Clearpay and I get AI responses from Debenhams/Boohoo. Are there no human customer advisers anymore?

I am extremely disappointed with my experience using Clearpay. I booked a hotel and selected Clearpay for the payment plan, which was confirmed. Two days before the first scheduled payment, I received a reminder notification. When I tried to log into my Clearpay account to make sure everything was set, it told me there was no account associated with my email.
I tried resetting my password—again, no account found. I then tried logging in using my mobile number, and while the system recognised my number, it still wouldn’t let me sign in.
I contacted Clearpay through live chat—completely unhelpful. I emailed them and only received a generic, unhelpful response. I escalated it to a formal complaint. When I called the number provided, I reached an American call centre where the agent told me he couldn’t take a payment over the phone, couldn’t help with the login issue, and had to “escalate it to the relevant team.” No solution, no accountability.
I explained that I needed to make the payment immediately because the next day it would be marked late. He reassured me not to worry and said the call was recorded.
And yet today, I received an email saying I have a late payment and that this will impact my credit file—all because their system wouldn’t allow me to access my own account.
This is completely unacceptable. A company offering financial services should not have systems this unreliable or customer service this unhelpful. Would not recommend.

From applying the problems started.
First was the ID verification. I had to submit additional ID, including my Birth certificate, bank statement and a council tax bill. Not a problem I thought, until 8 customer service advisors ignored it, and kept telling me to submit my passport/driving licence, which has already been done.
Day 2. My account was fully activated and verified. Let's try a purchase. Nope, nothing worked. No amounts from small to large. Everything declined. Account frozen.
Day 3. Asked to submit ID again (it's still uploaded in the exact same chat I'm now talking to another advisor in.)
Day 6. Fully verified again, told I can use my account with no issues. Try a purchase. Account frozen again.
Day 7. Asked to delete my account and remove my personal details. Told I can limit my spending? Don't want that, as I can't spend anything anyway!
Day 9. Told I can pause my account. Again, don't want to do this. I just want my account closed, and my details deleted from their systems.
Day 10. Told to resubmit ID. This is now going in circles.
Won't take a complaint. Won't delete my account or details. Repeating the same things over and over again. It's just a nightmare.

Clearpay is unfair. They kept charging late fees even after my item was returned, and they never replied to my complaint. Deleted the app — avoid!

Clearpay is a brilliant way to pay for stuff especially if it’s quite expensive..I’ve never had any issues in the 5+ years I’ve used them. It’s really handy. My refunds go back quickly. No problems whatsoever.
Are they scammers?
From my experience dealing with these people, I felt like they were scammers.
When I had a dispute where the supplier on their books sent me “premium” glasses which turns out to be nothing more than something you can pick out at the child section at Poundland, I tried to send it back. Clearpay refused to refund me. The worst part is, I was told, THE SUPPLIER CAN SEND YOU ANYTHING THEY WANT, EVEN IF ITS NOTHING LIKE ADVERTISED OR A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT ITEM, YOU STILL HAVE TO PAY.
You can order a Rolex and they can send you a comb, you will still need to pay for the Rolex. The epitome of SCAMMERS.
In addition, this payment company are not regulated by the FCA who are a regulatory body who ensures businesses like this treats customers fairly.
Added on late fees whenever they feel like it
Arrange a extension on a scheduled repayment, I was told I would as I did this before my payment was due I would not incur any late fees but they added on the late fees anyway.

Returned my order on 2nd September. This company has the worst Customer Service. Contacted them via email, portal and via Clearpay asking for my refund. I am still waiting. I only wish that I had checked the reviews beforehand. Absolutely ridiculous. I will go through Barclays to log a dispute as Clearpay are also not very helpful.

3.10.2025 Still no refund from this joke of a company despite them sending confirmation that they have received the items. I have now logged a dispute with my Bank as Clearpay were useless.
11.10.2025 -Have now involved Barclays via a dispute. Clearpay are also useless and unprofessional. Still yet to receive my refund but now they are demanding payment for an item that was returned a month ago! Seriously!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you to Barclays for upholding my dispute. I have paid their final payment minus any late payments they tried to charge me. I won't be using them ever again!
We like them as a processor
We like them as a processor, the only downside - they don't notify you about the chargebacks via email, they send mail! Like, which century do we live in??? We only found out after we got a big amount of money deducted from our account for the chargebacks from the previous month. At least the online portal to respond to chargebacks was convenient, but you have to call them to get access.

terrible, they make it look like the payments will be monthly then when you check it's every 2 weeks. so if you're paid monthly you're in a pickle you cannot get out of without returning your order.

second time trying to use this app to pay for accomodation with booking. com and yet again another failure because the clearpay app processed my booking but charged my bank the full amount when it's supposed to be split into 4 payments even worse is the accomodation is more expensive on the clearpay app but if it's being split into 4 I don't mind that but it's charged me the full amount so if u want to use clearpay for booking dot com please don't as it will charge u the full amount and more than if you booked direct with booking dot com and clearpay won't resolve it

Terrible customer service, as others have alluded to the staff are clearly ill-equipped to handle any issue that requires any amount of thought. The issue appears to lie with ClearPay outsourcing its customer support services to call centres abroad, to people who either don’t or can’t understand English.

Must be thee worst customer service ever!!! such a let down for a great company which has made it possible for me to get things that I would normally struggle to provide for my family and home.
My account became frozen as money was taken out of a wrong account which was added one wk to make a payment and unfortunately it was flagged. When you made me aware of this I paid the payment took note of payment receipt and sent all relevant details to yourselfs with the response it would be all sorted out within 7-10 working days….. it’s now been over 20 days! I have emailed I have asked BOT 🤦🏼♀️ I have been in touch to ask for your help numerous times and get no response and I’m finding it all rather frustrating now. Why can’t someone please just call me and sort it out. I am still making payments and on time even some before it’s due. I just want it un FROZEN so I can start getting organised for Christmas….also Kayla and Edd were the ones named that said they where on the case and it was getting sorted but seem to be ignoring my emails and may I add I have sent MANY emails
