I ordered a minotaur motor pin,LAST YEAR today 1st June I received a reply saying my order had been finalised 7 days ago.

Very Poor Customer Service
Realised the morning after purchase that I had possibly ordered the incorrect item, sent email and left 2 x voicemails however no response before item was dispatched 3 days later. Since receiving the item I have left another voicemail and attempted to ring on numerous other occasions but always goes to voicemail.
No sign of delivery for order number…
No sign of delivery for order number E-28666 placed on 27 June. I sent an email a week later and Jakki Ballard said she would update me shortly but I have heard nothing since. Either this company is extremely disorganised or they show items on their online shop that they do not have in stock.

Ordered 4 fenders on 11 May 23 which were stated as being in stock now 2nd June 23 still nothing sent or received. Looking on the online ordering system it seems they invite you to buy and pay for goods that they know they don’t have. Bet they don’t need an overdraft facility with all the customers money they have at any one time without full filling the order. Basically if you need it, buy it somewhere else as your more likely to receive it, but avoid this company.

A small business run with old school values.
I have used Chas Newens for a few years now since they were first recommended to me after purchasing my boat. I have used them as a customer, completed my Power Boat 2 and VHF courses with them, and have regularly employed their services for repairs to my vessel. I probably don't write as many reviews as I should but it would be criminal not to let people know what a friendly, willing and competent bunch they are. Their helpfulness is unequalled and service exemplary, especially Paul who has come to my aid in many a crisis. A small business run with old school values.
Not bothered.
I placed a recent order which did not arrive and after spending considerable time chasing this parcel up with their courier I eventually ended up collecting the parcel myself from the courier depot 15 miles away. I asked the courier for the complaints procedure and was told that the seller was required to make the complaint, So i then emailed Chas Newens to express my displeasure explaining in detail what happened but they couldn’t be bothered to reply, after reading other reviews this seems to be their M.O. they tend apparently to only reply to feedback from reviews so If your happy to deal with people who don’t have any customer care then these are the people for you. No problem when things go well but when you have a problem Good luck.

Excellent service and only the higest quality products. Julie is really knowledgeable and offers excellent impartial advice, so rare to find such a decent place, will be heading to Chas Newens again.
Order placed and confirmed delivery of…
Order placed and confirmed delivery of two weeks. Chased order after three weeks with no updates. Repealed promises to chase it and call me back, phone disconnected on more than one occasion and a completely not bothered attitude from the team. I'd have paid more for a higher level of care and customer service. Incredible considering the industry they service. Use them if you're not bothered when your order will arrive or if you dont value basic communication and service levels.

Super quick delivery
Ordered a spare part for Thetford cassette toilet. Order placed at 1pm on Friday afternoon. Item delivered to me in Scotland on Saturday by 11am. Faster than Amazon! Very good service thank you.

Dispatch time a little lengthy
Took 12 days to dispatch a tin of paint… however on a more positive note it was over £25 cheaper than any other retailer online!

Ordered item but false delivery promise!
Ordered a Gang Plank for our Narrowboat nearly 1 month ago - website showed in stock and payment was taken. 2 weeks after I chased the order and was told it would be dispatched that week. 2 weeks later still no plank and still no communication! Not great considering we need a plank for our holiday next week!!!!

Wide range of chandelry at competitive prices
I recently purchased stanchion gates and bases from Chas Newens. They were one of only a very few sources I could find for the specific items I was searching for. They offered a significant discount from RRP. Communication was good, advising me immediatly of a delay in one of the items. Altogether a trouble-free process and I would definitely use this supplier again.
