I can honestly say that even by having experience on the field, I've gained a mind-blowing volume of understanding, even when considering the most basic of aspects behind Game Design and Development! Concepts I thought I knew now look so different under a new light. Lessons are challenging, assignments and classes engaging. A must for any professional looking to up their game a notch or 73.

Awesome class to get me started in Virtual Production / Real Time and Unreal Engine

The overall foundations course is pretty straightforward, and flexible for anyone joining. Our instructor as well was incredibly experienced and accommodating to our education. Honestly a wonderful program and worth every moment!

The mentorship was patient, kind, and helpful. The resources they give you are massively useful in beginning your journey into game design. The connections, the lessons, and the hands-on experience help immensely. All that within the timeframe that we are given is students is phenomenal. Would recommend to anyone who asked. (or, even if they didn't)

I knew very little about 3D modeling before beginning the Intro to 3D Modeling course. Before starting it, I had just expected I'd learn how to model objects. After about a week of the course I realized I was learning 3D modeling, UV mapping, and texturing. I didn't even know that there were major distinctions between each of these skills, and I didn't even know what UV mapping was.
I'll admit there were times I felt I was struggling just to keep my head above water. However the purpose of the course wasn't to make me the best 3D modeler, it was to expose me to the process and major software common to the industry. It laid the foundations for me to develop an intuition for each step of the process so that I can figure out most of what I need. Moreover, it brushed up on good development etiquette; already I'm seeing how useful it is to organize your files and projects when working on a team.
As of this writing, I'm working an internship and while I was originally signed on as a texture artist, I've been assigned projects to help with UV mapping and editing models. I've received numerous compliments about my professionalism and organization skills that have helped me be an asset to the team. The day before I started the intro 3D modeling course at CG Spectrum, I wouldn't have known the first thing I was looking at regarding any of the work I've done. Now, I feel more professional than I thought I would be after a 3 month course.

CG Spectrum has to be one of the most positive experiences I have had in any learning environment. The mentors are highly knowledgeable, and the staff is very responsive to any questions I have had.

Just finished the 3 month Intro to 3D Modeling Course at CG Spectrum. I am very impressed by how far I've come from knowing little to nothing about 3D modeling, to creating a fully completed piece and understanding the basics behind modeling and texturing (in just 3 months). It took a few weeks to really get a grasp on what I was doing with learning the software, and understanding all the mechanics, but almost all of my questions were answered and no matter how simple my problems were, someone was always available to help out on the Slak channel. The video courses made me enjoy the work I was doing. Shoutout to Bryan Bentley for his amazing modules!

Some concerns I had with the experience: I was in a group class setting (4 students, one mentor) and the class-time was very short. The students go through 13-15 video lessons that take about 20 hours a week to complete and we only meet for one hour a week to discuss? Even if classtime was extended by a half hour, I feel like we would get at least a little more time to talk about the work or have questions answered face to face and not waiting for a response from the Slack channel. The small amount of class time really made me contemplate if I wanted to sign up and pay for the next terms. I'm also not sure if this was my specific class but I felt like I was the only student that completed my work at the end of each week. Its understandable that every student goes at their own pace and that we all overcome different struggles with our work throughout the week, but I was never really able to connect with my classmates with working through the videos because one would be behind by 2 weeks and the other would be behind by one week and I would be caught up. I just wish there were better deadlines for weekly submissions, so that we could all meet in class on the same, if not similar page. I guess weather you're signing up for individual one-on-one sessions or group sessions, you get out what effort you put into the course and the work.

Despite all of these concerns, you really are getting a lot out of this course. You have a large online community through Slack who always respond and help you. Your mentor records each session and posts it so you can continuously refer back to them. I think that the videos are well organized and for the most part, easy to follow. My mentor gave good feedback and like I said, I learned so much in just 3 months! These courses are pretty expensive but I think if you have the time, motivation, and commitment, and you really put effort into it, you'll get a lot out of it.

I finished the Concept Art and Illustration course a month ago and have found the experience at CG Spectrum to be great. The recourses available, slack channels, open sessions and one-on-one time with my mentor have truly helped me progress my art in ways I never thought possible. I've thoroughly enjoyed being a part of the vibrant community!

I put 5 stars because I've had an amazing mentor, Eric Wilkerson, great explanations, corrections and knowledge transfer, he got tons of experience and patience.

So the reason why I'm giving a one star review is because it turns out that they don't accept refunds for the 2nd term. So the reason why I decided to drop out of the course is because I started to work more hours and if you missed too much you get kicked out (I decided to drop out on the 1st day of the 2nd term).

So before you decide to go with this online program make sure you have plenty of time and your willing to go through the whole program before you lose $4,000.

Just finished the world building class for Realtime 3D & Virtual Production. This was and is still one of the best decisions I've made. Learning with CGSpectrum has put me in touch with amazing mentors and students who all share a passion for the arts. Thanks to Simon Warwick and William Foucher who are both technical geniuses and excellent teachers! I will be forever grateful.

Really fun and educational experience, learned a lot.

A super professional way of learning 3D art. In depth personal guidance and very friendly and helpful people!

Everything that was promised from the course was delivered, and with as many permanent resources as possible.

The best part of my experience was just how much the focus was on me as an artist and how to adapt my skills to a professional setting, and specifically how I would be expected to perform in such a setting.

If this was not enough, the tutors are especially receptive to your questions, and thus far every single piece of advice I have been given by my CG Spectrum tutor has been advice to live by, while also making sure that my own creative ability remains the primary focus.

In short, while CG Spectrum definitely does live up to its promise of being the best preparation training available to a professional or aspiring artist, it is so much more than a simple boot camp for your brain. It treats artists with respect, and teaches you to respect yourself and your capabilities, and combining this with getting to retain lifelong access to the CG Spectrum Slack community, and recording your feedback sessions so that you will always have their advice at the push of a button, it is hard to find anything negative at all to say about my experience.

Is it expensive? Yes. Does it justify that cost? In my opinion, absolutely. So many of my friends who studied art as a university course have commented how my art is now overtaking theirs because the focus has been on how to improve rather than how to pass an exam. Reality hits hard when most higher education courses only focus on getting high pass rates. CG Spectrum focuses on giving artists a career, and goes out of their way to match the right student with the right tutor, and I couldn't be happier with my tutor's performance.

In summary, I am already saving up and looking to extend my time with CG Spectrum and returning for more courses in the future as and when my budget allows, as the fact this course has been designed to work around real-life responsibilities immediately puts it far beyond any other course of its kind.

Utterly brilliant! If you really want to learn how to properly make concept art and illustration or just improve your art, then this is one of the best courses that you could do. The amount that you learn from the tutor and the assignents is huge, would take many years of self led practice to learn what is taught here. Fantastic experience!

Prior to going into the 12 month 3D Modeling Certification program at CG Spectrum, I had very minimal experience or understanding surrounding what the expectations of the industry were. I had a background as a 2d artist which definitely helped lend to some of the more creative tasks, but there were so many things I didn't initially understand producing game ready / film ready assets.

The program content and instructor (Christopher Flynn from Dekogon) were exceptional in breaking down the larger issues at hand into solutions, artistic direction, as well as full on technical critique that made for a huge boost in my abilities at making 3D assets and models. I recommend that if you take this course, you give it everything you have, put in the extra work, be very communicative during zoom sessions about what you're looking to improve or what is unclear because they're a really amazing support structure. That structure is not only provided by your assigned mentor, but the community of CG Spectrum on their slack channel, the career services, and fellow classmates who kept the fire lit the entire time.

The career services and post certification support from classmates, mentor and the career development manager, Maxine Shnepf, were really helpful. It can be scary once you wrap up a certification program, or education, which I know from experience at other institutions. This was made so much easier by realistic planning of resume, portfolio, and easy access to career staff via chats / meetings, which ultimately ended up helping me land my own job at a VFX studio!
If you were ever curious to get into this industry, you should consider checking CG Spectrum out. I would also like to say this with a bit of honest advice as well: This program will help you 100% to understand industry standards/ expectations as well as necessary pipeline techniques, but you absolutely must put in the effort. I don't want this review to be taken as "CG Spectrum did it for me!" no no, in fact this is a program that requires a lot of self-determination, creativity, and wanting to be in the industry. If you put all of those pieces together then this program will help you so so much more, and the sense of satisfaction you have with both your work, and your portfolio will be that much greater.

The interaction with the mentors is the best thing at CG Spectrum, their support and flexibility to adapt and support you with specific, practical tasks is great to help you improve in the areas you're interested in.
The huge Slack community is also great way to connect with and learn from peers, it's a constant source of info from various areas of the industry.

My experience at CG Spectrum was second to none, and taught me so much more than I initially anticipated. I stumbled across CG Spectrum while trying to find any way I could to leave the construction industry and get into the gaming/film industry, and I’m so glad I did. They offered a month free trial which really helped in my decision making to see if the course was right for me. I chose to sign up for the 1-1 course and was lucky enough to get Mark Pullyblank as my tutor, an absolute industry veteran. He took me from being barely computer literate to an animator working at a studio in only a year and a half. The information and level of teaching at CG Spectrum will absolutely not be found anywhere else and I would recommend them to anyone looking to learn a form of digital art.

Wish I could do this course all over again!! I came across CG Spectrum when looking for online art courses as due to the pandemic I wasn't satisfied with my uni experience and wanted to learn more. As soon as I was on their website I knew I wanted to apply for a course as I loved the fact you got to become part of the CG community and be apart of a small group with a mentor. I was mentored by Humza who guided me from day one until the end and I have nothing but praise for him. The quality of my artwork was improved by more than I ever imagined due to his guidance and feedback. I loved that we were shown how to take our illustrations to the next level and then given time to get more feedback on our improvements. The assignments and video tutorials taught me all the principles of art that were never mentioned during my three years at University and I am so glad I know them now because that is another reason for my art progression. Overall, I had the best time being part of CG Spectrum and already miss studying with my mentor and people in my course group. An experience I will never forget!
