I ordered 2x20TB Western Digital Gold…
I ordered 2x20TB Western Digital Gold storage drives on their site on March 6th. Their website showed 10+ in stock when I placed the order. They have "flex pricing" which basically just means from the time you order to the time your order ships the price is 100% guaranteed to increase from the amount charged to your credit card. I read those terms and was fine with it. My order was also guaranteed according to their site to arrive by March 11th.
Fast forward a few days, I receive an email that the price has increased and am I ok with a $30 increase from the price I already paid? I email back, and ask a few simple questions like when will they arrive etc? I got no response, and I sent a followup email that also received no response. These emails were to the sales person Clark Strauss.
So a few days later I call their customer service line, get someone in a foreign country who forwards me to Clark Strauss. Mr. Strauss tells me the drives are on backorder, not available for at least a few weeks etc, and then I ask how come you didn't respond to my emails? Oh, sorry about that. I tell him I want the order cancelled, refunded, and I want an email confirmation that the order has been cancelled and refunded.
The order is cancelled in their system, I get no email confirmation, let alone confirmation of money going back to my account. I think I got my money back? They are now showing these same drives currently in stock 2 weeks after I ordered with a quantity of 4, they don't have any drives in stock. They're basically running a scam, and it's insane to think that this is being allowed to happen.
I write this review to prevent anyone else from trying to do business with CDW. I will never, ever, ever do business with this company in the future or recommend that anyone else does either. A complete joke and waste of time, if you need hard drives go with B&H or Adorama, CDW is a scam, and a joke of a company. I wish I had found these reviews of them before placing an order.
Worst experience I've ever had buying equipment
I placed an order for some equipment. I was denied the next day and flagged. Then they demanded i wire transfer the money. I honestly thought it was a scam at first because who does that? There's so many better ways to verify! They're not a scam by the way. Hint hint for the future, they simply just do not care about you.
But then I proceeded to spend 4+ hours on the phone, being dropped, and unable to contact anyone. I was told to figure it out in sub 48 hours or they'll cancel.
When I finally got ahold of a replacement, they wouldn't answer questions, but just sent me the bank info to wire. I asked for 2 simple follow up questions trying to simplify after they ignored every other question. But of course I was ignored and they just sent the wire transfer info again instead of answering me...
By this point I spent all day trying to contact them. I was then given less that an hour to get to my bank the same day. Or else I apparently only have tomorrow which id have to change my work schedule to do.
Who demands a wire transfer with no alternative? Ive been flagged on purchases before when buying equipment but I can usually offer an id or my credit card. But only a wire transfer? And giving me less than 24 hours to figure it out by the time they gave me the bank info? Seriously?
No I didnt end up buying from them. I have zero faith id be able to return or rma if something happened.
Are they legit? Probably. I wouldn't know though. But are they a company you should use? 100% not. I skipped so many details. This was the most nightmare service I've ever dealt with.
I literally chose to buy elsewhere for $1k more because I cant trust cdw.

They contacted me a few days later ignoring my email yet again, but I was told order was now $1.4k more expensive because the price changed while THEY put my order on hold. And as an apology, they'd take off the cost of shipping.
Like thanks for giving me effectively a $10 coupon after a 24% price increase that you caused...
They were still ignoring my email and had the credit card charge still pending. I contacted my credit card, won the charge back, and am still kinda shocked how terrible this experience was.
Never Buy from CDW. LOOK ELSEWHERE!
If you value your time and capital, stay away from CDW. I placed a wire transfer on December 29th for a server rack listed as "In Stock." Since then, it has been a nightmare of zero accountability.
First, they shipped a unit on a pallet so flimsy it arrived crushed and bent. After refusing delivery, I spent weeks trying to get a replacement, only to find out the item was actually on backorder despite their website still claiming 19+ units were available for immediate shipping.
The communication is non-existent. My sales rep is consistently out of the loop, and the customer portal is never accurate. After finally giving up and requesting a refund, they went back on their promise of a bank transfer and are now making me wait another 10 business days for a paper check. They have held thousands of dollars of our money for over a month with nothing to show for it but excuses and delays. Save yourself the headache and find a reputable vendor.
Order not confirmed after two weeks
Order not confirmed after two weeks, I finally get a hold after two weeks of no answering only to find out there is a $700 price increase. We canceled our order and are now screwed as cyber monday deals have ended. DO NOT TRUST them or buy anything from them they are scammers
CDW boasts itself as an innovator... but
CDW boasts itself as an innovator for AI & Data, Workplace Modernization and Digital Enablement, yet they can't even get the real status of a product I ordered 7 weeks ago. When I placed my order on 10/20/2025, there was a 7-9 day backorder on CDW's website. Since that time CDW has informed me (only after I call) more times than I can count that the ship date has changed. When I e-mailed CDW, I was e-mailed back stating they would follow up with the vendor and get back to me... Never happened.
When I called last week I was told the sales rep would follow-up with the supplier and contact me with-in 48 hours. That did not happen. I sent the sales rep an e-mail last Friday morning requesting a status with no reply. I called the sales rep directly today and nothing at all was done to check on my order. I was told that CDW just changes the estimated ship date without confirming anything.
Why would any other business trust CDW to provide AI & Data, Workplace Modernization or Digital Enablement services when CDW itself cannot perform basic procurement or customer service functions?
The support team does not reply to any type of email/ticket.
Email license delivery will take more than 3 weeks
Ordered windows server license through them. With online delivery option it took me 3 weeks of proactive follow ups to the sales person to confirm my order and I still don't have my license. Don't waste your time here order somewhere else.

I ordered a monitor from CDW, but it was missing a part (screws to mount the monitor on stand). Called the customer service and they opened and assigned a case #. After waiting 2 months for the part when I called them they asked that you need to contact the manufacture. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY.

No updates after more than a week …
Made an order for an iPhone through my company’s procurement. After more than a week the order has yet to be dispatched, on top of that you have to pay for shipping.
That’s not acceptable, I’ve escalated to reconsider this vendor given their inability to perform basic tasks like shipping on time.
Infuriating Purchase Experience
Ordered a tablet computer through CDW with overnight priority delivery. Sometime during the night, they informed me that the order was delayed and that they needed the 1-800 number off the back of my Amex to process the order. Although frustrated by the delay, I emailed a reply with the phone number. I then followed up by email three more times during the day with no response. Finally, I called, and after sitting on hold for 30 minutes, I spoke with someone who assured me they would release the order and send me the shipping info. An hour later (after 5pm) I received an email from the original contact person informing me that their credit department had declined my card but told me that I could purchase the computer with an ACH withdrawal (as if I would let them near my bank account). I responded and shared my profound disappointment and then immediately ordered the same computer from Amazon. The charge was processed on the same Amex card within minutes. I can’t believe that they can operate the way they do and they’re obviously controlling the reviews on their google listing. Utterly infuriating service for what should have been a very simple transaction.
Very Sad
Not sure what happened to CDW. For years they were a decent company and I remember we used to use them at all the companies I worked for. I've waited weeks for a Microsoft License key. Paid $200 bucks. The sales rep never called me back and I called at least five times, leaving voicemail messages every time. I emailed her at least a dozen times, only one time did she reply saying my order was pending approval from Microsoft. After 14 business days, I went directly to Microsoft and bought the key we needed and had it within 30 minutes. I feel so badly for this company. They were THE COMPANY to go to for all your computer needs. Maybe Amazon is putting them out of business or something. Sorry guys.
Quicker to buy your IT equipment…
Quicker to buy your IT equipment everywhere else. Bad to no comms unless you chase, and even then there is no urgency or proactiveness to deliver anything resembling customer service. Somehow they remain on my employer's books as the authorised supplier. I would go elsewhere if I could.
Don't be fooled by what it says on their ordering system
I ordered two computers for our business on 6/11/2025. At the time of ordering, I did not receive any sort of message to tell me that one was not available. Instead, I received one computer. At that point, their customer interface became useless. It tracked the first computer and says the second is "Not shipped yet". I have called or used the chat feature to follow up to see when the second computer is shipping and they have given me incorrect information every time. First told me "will ship next week". It didn't. Next contact told me "will ship next week". It didn't again. Next contact told me they have no way to know but it will eventually ship. So on and so forth. This week (on my 7th time that I reached out), the representative I talked to told me they would not be in stock for shipping for two weeks. I told her that their website shows they have 34 of the exact item in stock. I asked could I cancel the first order (that is not trackable on their website) and order a new one. She told me that the information on the website could not be trusted to be accurate but I was free to try that. So I have ordered one that says it is in stock but it's day two and no notification that it has shipped so I am guessing she was right. Hard to imagine how they are in business.

Avoid at all costs!!
Extremely bad company. We needed parts which they showed instock online. We talked to our sales rep and then ordered with the understanding that these needed to ship overnight. We were instructed to pay for everything upfront, which we did via wire. Once that happened - crickets!! No status updates, we called in and were told order got cancelled - like what??? We already paid!! A few days passed - we missed our deadline and are now dealing with the aftermath of trying to get in touch with anyone there.
This company is horrible. I will report back with another review if we end up getting parts we ordered or a refund. To be continued...
Genuinely horrendous customer service…
Genuinely horrendous customer service -- at every turn in trying to buy simple server licenses, I was met with people who couldn't give me a straight or informed answer, who couldn't answer simple questions about the products and choices they were offering me, and who couldn't tell me how to actually GET my license once I had paid for it. I often waited two or three business days for replies to simple questions, even with my dedicated sales contact.
Just an ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE to work with and it turned what should have been a 1-2 day process into MULTIPLE WEEKS AND COUNTING.
Holy crap it should not take THREE WEEKS to buy a handful of simple server licenses.
CDW is in the dark ages
CDW is in the dark ages. How are they still in business? I purchased an online license for Adobe Pro on 4/30. It's an online download. I was told it would take a couple of days for a sales rep to "process" it. 5/6 I finally received an email from the sales rep advising that they needed to verify the order and if I didn't respond in 48 hours, my order would be cancelled. What exactly needs to be "verified" to download software that should have been instantaneous?! Tried to chat with support ... they said to reach out to the rep, when I said I already had they just ended the chat. Still waiting for my software download...
Received an empty Xerox tone cartridge
