I asked to take a toll free route from JFK into Manhattan. I was told NO then driver called central office. They said the route is up to the driver and if he wants to take the toll road then I'm required to pay it. He said it's all listed on the website. All the web says that tolls and gratuity are additional. Not that I may not choose a route that saves me $8 and only adds 5 minutes to the trip. I then said I would pay the EZ pass fee since they use that not the full toll but again the answer was NO. I never had a car service mandate that I take a toll route when a toll free option is available and the travel time is comparable. This is a ripoff and BAD service.

Used Carmel to go to airport. Brooked a standard car which can hold 2 golf bags and 2 small suitcases ( do this a lot with my own car). I told dispatcher that I had 2 golf bags and 2 carry on suitcases. Driver comes in a minivan and says my golf bag is large. Then he radios his base to say golf bag is large because he wants me to pay for a minivan rate. Base operator asks if it would fit in a standard size car and I said yes. Operator tells driver not to charge extra .I resent the hassle. Car ride was fine,

I never had a problem with Carmel, have used them for years. I hope that my trust in them is not compromised by the same complaint this customer had. They have always been very fairly priced and reliable in all the years I have used them. With heavy traffic now in NYC, they are almost comparable to a city cab. And so much more comfortable.

CARMEL LIMO (666-6666) is "the worst" of New York's many car service companies. They are undependable, and duplicitous. They have stood us up after theater, and at the airport. They are "no shows." They do not tell you the truth. Even if you make an appointment weeks in advance, they MAY NOT show up, and then they have no excuse. They have abused us for the last time. We will never use them again, and have switched to DIAL 7.
