If you are talking about the app as in the application, it is used to schedule the appointment and securely store the medical cannabis certificate and other documentation. The certificate is emailed as well for convenience so that you do not have to log back into the app. The app also allows you to quickly login to book a renewal appointment without having to re-enter all of your information. State law requires annual evaluations to retain a valid medical cannabis certificate.
If you are talking about the app as in the appointment, it is required by Virginia state law in order to receive a medical cannabis certification. Medical cannabis evaluations to receive a medical cannabis certificate must be conducted prior to the certificate being issued by the healthcare practitioner and the certificates can have a validity no longer than 1 year. This means the longest period of time between appointments by law is one year if you wish to keep an valid medical cannabis certificate which allows you to enter dispensaries and purchase medical cannabis products.
