However, from the details provided, this does not appear to relate to an order placed with Binkyshop.co.uk. We have no record of this return or any previous correspondence regarding the issue you mentioned.

It may be that your son placed the order with another retailer.

Dear Stefano,

You did not place an order with Binkyshop.co.uk directly, therefore parts of your review are inaccurate and misleading.

Binky Ltd is a long-established independent retailer with many verified positive customer reviews and a strong reputation for customer service. We are not a “scam company”, and we take such statements seriously.

For clarity, Ms Jolanda Tirelli placed an order with us on 11th November. The order was dispatched the same day via DPD in good faith and in line with the Terms & Conditions clearly available on our website at the point of purchase.

As stated within our Terms & Conditions:

“When shipping to Europe, it is the customer’s responsibility to pay any duties or taxes due. If a shipment is returned because duties are unpaid, Binky Ltd reserves the right to deduct return shipping costs, reprocessing fees and any applicable charges before issuing a refund.”

On 16th November, you contacted us on Ms Tirelli’s behalf requesting a refund because the import duties were not going to be paid.

The duties due were €36, set by the Italian authorities — not by Binky Ltd.

Although we were under no obligation to do so, we offered, as a goodwill gesture, to contribute towards these costs by effectively covering half of the duties if the parcel was accepted. This offer was declined.

We also explained that if the parcel was returned and damaged during customs handling or transit, any refund could be affected in line with our Terms & Conditions.

The duties remained unpaid and the parcel was subsequently returned to the UK.

Upon inspection at our fulfilment centre, the parcel had been opened by Italian customs and the product was marked and damaged with pen, making it unsuitable for resale at full price.

Despite this, we still offered a partial refund and attempted to minimise the loss by offering the item for sale as a discounted damaged product. We also explained that, if unsold, the item would instead be donated via our charity partners at The Toy Project.

A refund was then issued to Ms Tirelli, less:

* the clearly stated reprocessing fee;
* and a reduction reflecting the damage caused whilst the item was outside of our control.

Throughout this process we responded promptly, investigated the matter thoroughly, and offered multiple goodwill solutions despite the issue arising from unpaid import duties rather than any failing on the part of Binky Ltd.

We appreciate that customs charges are frustrating, however responsibility for import duties sits with the recipient and is standard practice for international shipments outside the UK.

We would respectfully ask that you reconsider and remove or amend your review so that it more accurately reflects the situation and the considerable efforts made by our small independent business to resolve matters fairly.
