Repair is a effing joke. I've sent multiple knives back more than once, because they either didn't fix it the first time, or damaged it while they had it.

Horrible
Horrible. If you live in Canada get ready to pay for their life time warranty and sharpening. Never again, they are not worth all the frustration with customer service that can’t even send you a new handle to replace their defective product. $300 in the garbage.

I've been buying benchmade Knives for years, I think I have 5 and they've all been life lasting knives. The Bugout series is great for a cheap EDC knife.
Do not buy a Benchmade knife.
My husband needed a reliable knife, so we spent $299 on a Benchmade Mini Infidel Auto. We’ve already sent it back twice because it won’t lock into place — and it STILL doesn’t work.
At this point, it’s not just an inconvenience. It’s a safety risk. Carrying a knife that won’t lock is dangerous, and dealing with repeated warranty returns is unacceptable.
Benchmade has been a real let down…
Benchmade has been a real let down lately. The quality and value just isn't there. For what benchmade charges, their products should much better than what they are.
Overpriced QC Nightmare
The prices keep rising and quality control keeps falling.
I recently handled two Bailouts with the copper scale and magnacut blade. The knife costs $350, so it is close to solid brands like Hinderer at $425 where you don't have doubts about quality. Both samples had uneven and sloppy grinds that don't match product photos or my pre-existing Bailout. And the action on one was super stiff - loosening the pivot a tad created too much blade play. I walked away from it.
I hoped things had changed since my last attempt with their knives that came with similar grind issues or blades off center. The designs aren't cool enough to ignore the slop in QC. Try Hinderer, McNees, ZT, Spyderco...so many brands respect their customers with better product execution.
I purchased a limited-edition Benchmade…
I purchased a limited-edition Benchmade 940 Osborne (Lava Flow FatCarbon®), and the knife arrived with a factory defect — a visible crack in the carbon handle. On top of that, there were no markings, serial number, or any indication that it was a limited edition.
Benchmade customer support initially acknowledged the defect, registered my case, and provided a prepaid UPS label. Because I was on a business trip, I couldn’t send the knife back immediately. I was told by a Benchmade representative (Michael) that once I returned, I only needed to email them the ticket number #434506, and they would issue a new prepaid label without any problem.
That promise was not honored.
When I contacted Benchmade exactly as instructed, instead of issuing the label, the support team claimed they had no record of my case and redirected me to fill out online warranty forms again. I submitted multiple service requests — including Order #11001082346 — and waited more than two weeks. All of them were canceled or left without any updates. The tracking page showed no progress, no service kit shipped, and no activity at all.
I sent a detailed escalation email on November 10th asking for an update, and since then I’ve received no response whatsoever.
At this point, I am deeply disappointed. This was my first Benchmade purchase, and the experience has been a complete failure — defective product, broken commitments, repeated delays, internal miscommunication, and complete lack of accountability from customer service.
I still have a defective $400+ knife and no solution.
This is not the level of service you expect from a premium brand.
Amazing how Benchmade has 4.9/5 stars…
Amazing how Benchmade has 4.9/5 stars on their page, but garbage reviews here.
I briefly owned an military/rescue foldable Benchmade knife $375 "value". Just like other reviewers on this site, the screws kept backing out, first on the "deep pocket clip" (within 1 month of using it). Then the blade started to loosen up so that it literally fell open. I tightened everything up and then couldn't find a happy medium for the blade tightness (either too tight or too loose). The pocket clip screws continued to loosen up on me and obviously I'm not going to carry a star allen wrench around with me everyday. The knife was my everyday carry for urgent and utility needs, but it repeatedly fell out of my pocket from the loosening of the screws until it fell out and became lost.
I contacted Benchmade because my ex-army, gunsmith buddy (that recommended I get the military issue knife that I did) said, "surely they will do something for you". But nope, not a thing. They said they will replace screws that become loose if I want to buy another one. YEAH RIGHT! I will not be purchasing another, EVER.
Dissatisfied Benchmade Owner
About 11 days ago, I put in a request to Benchmade for screws. They shouldn't fall out so easily in the first place. I received an email from them saying they were going to send me new screws that were coated with something so they wouldn't fall back out. I submitted pictures with my request as well. When I replied to Benchmade, I let them know that I was missing the large screw at the bottom of the knife in the picture that I submitted. The rep assured me that they were sending me a full set of screws for my knife. When I got the screws, I was missing the exact screw that I told the rep that I needed. I reached out to bench made, and they told me that they do not send the female fastener out and that I would have to send the knife in for repair. The rep did not look at the picture and handle it properly. Benchmade should have told me that I would need to send the knife in for repair. I don't carry it anyhow. I have several Benchmade fixed blade knives, but I do not recommend anything that folds from this company. Customer care did not care enough to review my request and handle my situation properly in the beginning.
Thieves
Sent a knife in for sharpening. They said it was counterfeit and stole my property. I paid twice as much for an "authentic" knife from their website. Broke almost instantly. Now I can't get customer service to respond to a refund request. This company is a bunch of thieves.
Poor customer care
Poor customer care. They have changed the arrival date 2 times already and we still do not have the knife.

I purchased the Benchmade green pocket knife S30V. I cannot be happier with the quality and how well the blade holds in edge. Super sharp, super durable.
I Highly recommend this pocket knife, highly!
Don’t recommend at all…
Bought a $400 knife and the action broke within 45 minutes. Went to where I bought it and salesman exchanged it but downsized to a $276 knife. Salesman assured me it has 100% warranty at any dealer. Was in OR when I bought it, and now in MT. It broke again. Drove two hours to the dealer benchmade site had listed and they’ve never carried benchmade. Went to an actual dealer and they don’t exchange but could fix it for a charge but it would void the warranty. Went online to get warranty form so I can send it to benchmade and they will only send it back to a dealer, not back to me but the only one near me is 5 hours away. What a load of bull.
Saddest day ever
I got my knife for free from a friend of mine and she said she hated it, when I got it, it was covered in melted candy and some kind of wax, I cleaned it up and resharpened it and it was the most beautiful thing I've ever seen in a knife, I put that knife threw hell and back for almost 10 years, I'm talking about I used this thing for everything, cooking, as a can opener, as silverware, as screwdriver, as a pry bar (1/4 inch stainless steel), even in the bedroom with the miss', but today I lost my knife and can't even begin to tell you how sad I am, I could honestly cry right now, I just looked up how much one would cost and I can't afford it, and now I want to cry even more......... I miss my knife (saddest day ever for me), thank you for making such a wonderful knife for me to fall in love with, and I'm so sorry for losing it (9101SBK Auto Stryker best da*m knife you guys ever made)
Woke company
Their fraud management software is poorly configured and managed to the point where it will literally cancel an order shipping to the billing address. I want an apology.

Bought 2 of their pocket knives and love them both. Very high quality and durability. Sent them in to hav e them sharpened, cleaned and have clips tightened (free service they provide on their knives!). Sent them back within a week nd knives look brand new! Great company, great product and great service. Looking for some quality cutlery knives and will definetly get Benchmade!

Terrible customer service- I purchased a Mini Griptilian which I loved and was excited to use.. on first use I noticed the tip had two points, not an acceptable defect on a brand new pocket knife that cost £150.. contacted the customer service team and was told “use a sharpening rode”.. this isn’t really acceptable to respond with this on a brand new item to have to fork out more cash to correct a defect from the manufacturer. I was going to get a second benchmade, after poor experience I will not be purchasing the brand again
Decent product, bad customer service
It's bad enough that there are rumors that this company will actively donate to anti-gun legislation, but now you can add "poor customer service" to the list. I contacted them about a month ago regarding having malice clips sent to me to replace the ones that came with an Adamas knife I bought. They promised that they could ship them out to me, and even asked for my full name to add it to their systems. A week passed, then two, then three... They told me it'll be processed and sent out "as quickly as possible," but how long does it take for 20 cent malice clips to be manufactured and shipped? If it wasn't already bad enough, now they're flat out ignoring my emails when I ask them for updates.
Screw it, I'll just sell this knife and start telling people to buy Ontario Knife Company instead. Leave it to a company out of California to perform so poorly
