My brother ordered me some hiking boots for my birthday, as I'm climbing Snowdon in September and they arrived very quickly. Unfortunately, they were very small, so he asked if he could replace with the next size up and was told size 7 is the largest size they do, so he asked for a refund. It's been 3 months now and he's not had any response from them at all. The website is very similar to another genuine UK website called backpackerlife.com (who have been incredibly helpful) so please double check before posting your review and definitely don't order from backpacker-life.com

NEVER USEI ordered a size 11 safety trainer eventually arrived but like many other reviews more like a size 9 I sent back to address in France by Royal mail track and signed only to check 4 days later the Royal mail can't locate the address in France were expecting the shoes to be returned at some point not only have we wasted 44 pounds on them £16.95 to try and send back UTTER DISGRACE OF A COMPANY

I have messaged them for the 10th time to obtain a receipt. If no receipt is provided I will be reporting to UK trading standards and obtaining a refund from my card provider. No one has to put up with a company like this. You have a right to claim back from your payment source. As you can see from the reviews this company is a repeat offender and should not be allowed to trade in uk. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM AS THERE IS NO OPTION TO RETURN OR OBTAIN A RECEIPT. All contact details are incorrect! THE REVIEWS ON THE WEBSITE ARE FAKE.

Ordered some safety trainers but did not get a confirmation or receipt. Sent 4 emails requesting one but absolutely no response to them. The site sometimes comes up in French too, mails exclude the hyphen backpacker-life.com which is suspicious. Some bounce back too. Suspect this is a scam site.

sent lots of message and emails had 1 message asking why I want to return them, still waiting for details to send them back no one replying to messages.

total useless company to deal with. order supposed delivered to our company at 1.36pm on 21st July, and we close at 11am on Fridays. no notification that its out for delivery even though I was chasing them for the delivery. asked them about it and they want me to go and check with all the companies around to see where it was left. I have contacted the royal mail too about this but this company is totally useless and we will not be ordering from them again. they refuse to give us a refund. Their customer service is the pits

Ordered trainers UK9 but what arrived was nowhere near a UK9. Emailed to ask for an exchange and have been emailing almost every other day with no response. Do not waste your money with this website. Very unprofessional service.

Ordered a pair of shoes which showed up in a reasonable amount of time.
Unfortunately, they did not fit so I repackaged and returned expecting a refund.
I received no refund and after getting in touch with the customer service team I received a couple of replies before they stopped responding.
The shoes were sent via tracked mail and eventually returned to me.

me "hmmm going camping next week and need a sleeping bag".... orders black snow (who?) sleeping bag and hopes for the best. i then get an email three days later stating that they had just started processing my order and the delivery time could be up to 20 days with a 10 day processing time.....?!?!?!?!?
really?? 10 days just to pick one item in a warehouse and send it to derbyshire.....
from reading other reviews i now believe the company to be based in france and they are drop shipping from china, i think this because their online literature is written in good engilsh whereas "Lily" on email cant string a sentence together which is odd for customer service.
i actually asked her to cancel the order and refund me as soon as i read the astonishing delivery schedule but she just gave me the run around.
arrived back from camping holiday to find sleeping bag delivered, what a bunch of clowns.
since then emails back and forth with offer of 50% refund but they refuse to answer the big question"where is your company based??"
she is definitely using google translate for the emails.
now wont give me any refund or even tell me where to send the product back to!

I ordered am 'unbranded' sleeping bag from this site because it had good specs lightweight but warm. (The brand is in fact something called 'black snow'). Somewhat against my better judgment as I normally get gear i recognise from places I know. But this was cheapest sleeping bag for weight and warmth. Then I read the reviews and panicked. But to be fair. 1. They communicated well on delivery times. 2. My sleeping bag came well within outside time stated in 10 days - seems reasonable and as fast as others have often been. 3. Outside of sleeping bag did look shiny and cheap but have used in 0 degree on scottish mountain and I reckon the spec is accurate. 4. It is actually well made with lots of good features. In fact it looks pretty bomb proof. 5. Came vacuum packed in clear plastic so looked odd on arriving but seems sensible way to send.
So... if you want branded from company you trusted, get branded from company you trust. It is indeed safer in terms of tested specs and knowing what it will look like. But did I experience company as 'total scam'? No. Delivered what it said when it said. On down side they do seem to be trying to pretend to be another company. When I panicked that had been scammed emailed them I got no response. So suspect things are hard to return. And the 'tracker' they sent didn't actually seem to be tracking just showing a bar tha never changed. But that said, the bag then arrived well before the outside date promised, was what I ordered and of an acceptable standard, and before the tracker showed it was here! So while other reviews are probably all accurate I thought only fair to log that my experience was fine as I really was not expecting it to be.

Should be an option for 0 stars. Bunch of con artists, brought the solar power battery pack, flimsy cheap product. Took ages to process the order and even longer to deliver!
The red light comes on when it’s in the sun but doesn’t charge anything.

Zero stars!!! Do not order from this company! We ordered a rucksack for my son's Duke of Edinburgh but it did not arrive, so I chased it up with the company to be told it takes 3 to 5 days to process the parcel and 5 to 15 days for delivery!! Unfortunately no where on their website, delivery info etc does it state this timescale and in this day and age when we are so used to items being delivered next day or with 3 to 4 days you do not expect this delay. It also does not inform you that it will be made in China and shipped from Paris! Our rucksack did arrive but after the DofE expedition and I therefore emailed them for the 4th time to say I no longer wanted the rucksack and wanted to arrange a return and refund. I then paid £10.75 to return it to the return address on their website in Paris but I have tracked the parcel and delivery was attempted at 11am on Friday but no one was in to take delivery. The parcel has to be picked up within 15 days but a week later they still have not collected it. No one is responding to my emails and I have not received a refund. I feel totally ripped off and want to warn everyone not to order from this company. The quality of the rucksack was poor anyway so we would not have been impressed with it should it have arrived in time for the trip.

Took ages to recieve. Messaged for refund as not suitable, got offered 50% refund. Requested details to return as neither suitable and not had any response now. Been going on for weeks now. Will not use again or recommend.

Similar issues. My order has not arrived though i placed it two and a half weeks' ago. I took a screenshot of the page when I ordered and tried to use the reference code on there to find out delivery info on the 'track your parcel' feature.
At time of ordering site claims customers will receive a separate email with an order number (I received ni email). No response to email queries apart from an automatic one (your parcel is on its way... Track your order here! (But no order number supplied, and orginal ref. number when order was made (which I only have as I always screenshot page when I order anything) so there is absolutely no way to track it. 'd be surprised if it ever turns up, and your parcel ertainly won't come within the time-frame they give! Will report back if parcel ever arrives OR if i actually manage to get hold of anyone there to get arefund. So far, I quite agree with other reviews - bunch of scammers!

I bought a sleeping bag from this company because its reviews were good, except they are obviously fake. They say products are good when in fact by design they cannot be fit for purpose. If you buy a lightweight sleeping bag that has a very small amount of down in it, it won’t keep you warm in cold conditions. They asked me for photos showing the lack of filling then when I did just ignored me. You will totally waste your money with this firm that charges huge amounts for cheap sh— from China that is worse than a supermarket bag for ten pounds. Hopefully one day there will be proper legislation to fine these scammers and their enablers like Google!

Shame there is no option for 0 stars as that is all they deserve.
I ordered a sleeping bag, it took three weeks to arrive but is so poorly made, feels extremely cheap, there is hardly any fill in it. I have contacted them asking them how to return and kept being asked to send a picture of the defect.
Although it may be a defect I no longer want it and they are making it very hard to return, they are no longer responding to emails.
I agree with some of the other reviews, criminals through and through.

Ordered a sleeping bag from this lot.
All very nice emails from the company after ordering....then delivery date gets pushed back to following week, then to following month. I complained and got sent an Evri tracking link, but Evri say they have not got the goods to dispatch so get in touch with sender.
Guess what...sender does not respond to multiple emails and they have my money. I have asked for a refund!
Avoid at all costs.

Backpacker-life did finally respond and informed me goods had been returned to sender and they would arrange to send a replacement, asking for my delivery address again.
I insisted on a refund.
So after 5 weeks from ordering I have finally got a refund, though tracking now says goods are on their way??
If goods arrive I will not accept delivery so will never get to know the quality of the product...but at least I now have my money back.
Have upgraded to 2☆ on the basis I have finally got my money refunded.
Still very worrying that this company are allowed to trade, and they now have many customers details to possibly sell on.

Never received order no 455291BPK. The expected delivery date keeps being pushed back.

I received an email 3 weeks ago asking if I had received it as 'it's very frustrating......when a shop doesn't respond .....doesn't want to solve a problem'

Well I am frustrated as Backpacker-life have stopped responding and won't give me a refund.

The shop is based in France, but the rucksack was being shipped from China. (A fact which wasn't very clear on the website) The first delivery date was in March, which would have have been in time for the Duke of Edinburgh practise expedition that was the whole reason we ordered the rucksack. It didn't arrive and we had to borrow a bag. The actual Expedition is in 2 days and it looks like we will have to borrow one again.

Do not order from them if you wish to get the item anytime soon.

I bought a solar recharger for my iphone from them. It arrived and does not work. I wanted a refund but they ignore this request. I will certainly never use them again and am still waiting for a refund to be organised.

The worst customer support I have ever experienced! Lily was incredibly rude and unhelpful. I will not be shopping here again and regret my purchase. Do not reccommend.
