About Us
Alloway Timber & Builders Merchants was founded in 1971 by Joe Alloway (senior). He started the business from the back garden of his parents’ house in Fulham and in 1973 he expanded by opening our Putney Branch, where we still trade from today.
Our Purpose
We offer an impressive range covering softwoods, MDF, hardwoods, skirtings, and architraves, to aggregates, blocks, bricks, and lintels. In essence, all the materials you need for your construction project from start to finish, delivered via our extensive fleet including crane lorries.

5 Star service for a £3 sale.
I needed one gutter bracket to replace one on my garage that had broken. Found Alloway Byfleet from the manufacturer's website and emailed them (on a Sunday). To my surprise I got a reply from Jack the same day to say they stocked that make, and another the next morning confirming they had what I wanted, and I picked it up that morning. I spent just over £3 there, but got five star service. Totally amazing these days. Thanks!

Jo is a great for sourcing non shelf products and getting the deal that is needed as is Charlotte in accounts, Darren and Tony in the yard also brilliant and Rob in the truck always a helpful friendly and courteous team at Alloway are always going out of their way to help out I have held an account for over 10yrs the only criticism would be get a Hiab for speedier deliveries.

If you do require a HIAB Delivery, please state when placing your order so we can accommodate this for you however this would need to be a large order to utilize the vehicle.

The best service - every time!
This is the fourth order from Alloway Timber and I can't rave about them enough! Every time the service has been outstanding (from the contact person to the delivery driver) and the delivery quick (mostly next day).
This most recent order I dealt with Sophie, who went above to give advice on the best timber for my needs and then put my order through and arranged delivery in a very timely manner. My delivery is scheduled to arrive tomorrow and I can't wait to start working on the next garden project!

A very helpful team who go above and beyond to get materials supplied to site. Especially Darren who answers emails after working hours to get materials on the first lorry out the next morning.
