I wouldn't use them again. Completion statement higher than the agreed quote. I kept chasing for a refund and nothing back from them till date. Terrible communication too

Mohammed Munshi was very helpful. Always responded promptly and he was always supportive. The fee was also the most avoidable out of 10 or so solicitors that I contacted. I would highly recommend him.

Ackroyd Legal undertook the conveyancing for my auction purchase with 18 days to complete. Normally such transaction would not be a problem, but on this occasion the seller proved beyond difficult & appeared not want to sell the property. Thomas Cubitt was extremely helpful in negotiating the way forward to completion which entailed immense patience on his part. His responses were always prompt the proceedings were never allowed to lapse. I am really grateful for pushing the transaction through against the will of a reluctant seller. I would have no hesitation asking him to conduct future conveyancing.

I have dealt with numerous property purchases and sales over the years as an experienced landlord, and I can genuinely say that Maryam is one of the best solicitors I have ever dealt with.
From the outset, she was incredibly prompt, proactive and communicative. She kept us fully informed throughout the entire transaction and made sure we had complete visibility of what was happening at every stage.
Towards the end of the transaction, there were a number of urgent issues and very tight timescales, but Maryam went above and beyond to prioritise matters and do everything possible to get the purchase completed within the required timeframe.
Her communication, professionalism and attention to detail really stood out. I genuinely wonder why more solicitors don't work this way! It made a huge difference and gave us confidence that everything was being actively managed.

The branch in Prescot street E1 8AZ is one of the worst unprofessional solicitors I have had to deal with.

The solicitor Od****** M****** made excuse after excuse for lack of work and incompetence. Ignored emails I sent and is still silent on the matter of my potential house purchase.

I would never recommend this cowboy firm.

I had bought 4 different properties with 3 different law firms so I have some experience.
If doing business with Ackroyd Legal, ask for Thomas Cubitt. The sale had a hiccup as my giftor was from overseas so we had to changed to a fully mortgage purchase. You can imagine this could have been a stressful situation but Mr Cubitt handled it with professionalism and SPEED LIKE I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED BEFORE. They also got me an indemnity agreement to cover some quirks with the property. I felt professionally cared for and updated just the right amount. The handler was easy to reach and I felt calm and in control throughout the process.
I highly recommend!

We had an appalling service from this company. Delay after delay, excuse after excuse, the final bill was far higher than the original quote for no justifiable reason.

Please note that this company has no trustpilot rating because of breaches to their terms and conditions i.e. a large number of made up 5 star ratings have been left for them. Take ALL 5 star ratings with a pinch of salt.

There are plenty of other conveyancers out there, I strongly suggest you try one of them instead!

A really smooth process made possible by a very dedicated team. I highly recommend Maryam Khan who’s been diligent, helpful and consistently communicative throughout!

Communication was extremely poor — I went weeks at a time with no response during the process, which is stressful enough when buying a home.

The worst part: they sent the extra charge just one day before completion, telling me that if I didn’t pay it immediately, they wouldn’t transfer funds to the seller — meaning I’d have been liable for extra tax penalties on the seller’s side through no fault of my own. When I pushed back, I was told they’d “ask the finance team to check it.” That was over a year ago. I never heard back, and given how unresponsive they were during the actual transaction, I’m not holding my breath now.

I’d think twice before using this firm for anything time-sensitive or high-stakes like a house purchase.

I instructed Ackroyd Legal 6 months ago, got passed across a few different case handles before finally getting Qamar and Mohammed who genuinely pulled this out the bag and got this sorted for me!

I would have loved to give this 5* but sadly rh process before them was far from ideal. I would happily give Qamar & Mohammed 10* but across overall did take some time to come though :)
